Li Mingxi laughed, "I was going to ask you the same question. What will you do if they want parents?"

Xiao Lang worriedly said, if they could find the parents of these children, they wouldn’t be staying in the orphanage.

"What should we do? If we can’t fulfill their wishes, they’ll surely be sad."

Li Mingxi comforted him, "It’s okay, just do what you can. There’s always a way."

Xiao Lang nodded, "You’re right."

After talking with Li Mingxi for a while, Xiao Lang worried she might get impatient and suggested, "Let’s go help out. There are still many kids who haven’t had their medical check-ups."

"Let’s go." Li Mingxi was thinking the same thing.

Li Mingxi is a doctor, so she could help draw blood, and although Xiao Lang couldn’t give injections, he had no problem weighing and measuring the kids.

With their help, the process went much faster.

Everyone was busy but happy.

By noon, all the children had finally finished their check-ups.

Then, it was time for Xiao Lang to fulfill his promise.

He asked the director to give each child a piece of paper and a pencil to write down their wishes, which he would fulfill one by one.

Originally, Li Mingxi could have left.

But Xiao Lang had made the promise for them, so it wasn’t appropriate for her to leave now.

She had no choice but to stay with Xiao Lang and help make the wishes come true before leaving.

The children finished writing their wishes, and Li Mingxi and Xiao Lang sat in the director’s office, reviewing them one by one.

"This child says he wants to pick out a new set of clothes himself," Xiao Lang read from one of the papers, "This one is doable."

Li Mingxi quickly looked through a few slips, then picked one up and laughed, "This child wants Doraemon’s pocket."

Xiao Lang was stunned for a moment and then smiled helplessly, "I can give him a Doraemon toy, but I can’t give him a magical pocket. I really can’t fulfill this wish."

Li Mingxi set the paper aside, "Let’s separate out the ones we can’t fulfill and have them choose different wishes."

"That’s all we can do."

It didn’t take them long to finish reading through the notes.

Li Mingxi said, "Overall, these children didn’t make excessive demands. You can help them, so I’ll head out first."

"Wait a moment," Xiao Lang called after her.

"What else?" Li Mingxi asked, puzzled.

Xiao Lang smiled gently, "I’m afraid some wishes require your help to fulfill."

"Me? What wish?"

Xiao Lang handed a piece of paper to her, "Take a look."

Li Mingxi took it and looked at it with curiosity—

[I want Uncle Xiao and Aunt Li to be my mom and dad for a day.]

Li Mingxi: "..."

Xiao Lang gave her a glance and casually said, "This wish isn’t very difficult, but it depends if you’re willing."

Li Mingxi coughed lightly and returned the paper to him, "Uncle Xiao and Aunt Li might not necessarily mean us. There are many teachers at the orphanage; it could be any two of them."

"You have a point. How about we let the director ask around?"

"Alright," Li Mingxi nodded, pretending to be calm.

But in her heart, she was praying that it definitely wasn’t referring to the two of them.

Though Li Mingxi knew it likely referred to them, she asked the director to inquire, clinging to a sliver of hope.

In the end, it really was referring to the two of them...
