Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2721: Separated by Blood, Worlds Apart

  • Next Chapter

Soon, a doctor arrived.

Erin’s water broke, and the nurses were startled, hurriedly pushing her into the delivery room.

Sylvan Cheney stood like an outsider, hands in the pockets of his trousers, watching indifferently as people walked back and forth in the room.

The group of doctors and nurses had no idea what was happening; they thought it was merely a small family meeting.

A few minutes later, Erin was sent away, and the place returned to calm.

Sylvan Cheney’s face was indifferent, while Kieran Janus was in a state of panic.

"Sylvan Cheney, why haven’t you left? What do you want? Erin’s due date hasn’t arrived; you forced her into early childbirth. What more do you want?" Kieran Janus demanded.

"I will leave."

"Leave now! Or I’ll have someone cripple you!" Kieran Janus threatened, with his men still waiting outside.

Sylvan Cheney seemed completely unaffected by the threat, scoffing: "At this point, you’re still thinking of threatening me? It seems you haven’t lost with conviction and are still deluding yourself into salvaging a bit of dignity in this matter. But struggling on the brink is useless; it’ll only hasten your downfall. President Janus has been in the financial circle for many years, he should understand this logic."

He no longer cared about Kieran Janus’ threats at all.

He also knew that Kieran Janus was merely showing off.

"Kieran Janus, you’d better stay outside the delivery room and properly inform the doctors, or if your daughter inside decides she can’t take it, what will you do?"

"Sylvan Cheney, you madman! You’re insidious and ruthless; people like you will be childless and isolated!"

"Ha." Sylvan Cheney paid no mind to such curses from Kieran Janus.

A flash of shrewdness passed through Kieran Janus’ eyes—also the last glimmer in his dim eyes.

He didn’t plan to contend with Sylvan Cheney any longer; tonight was destined to be a sleepless night, but he knew Sylvan Cheney had also lost terribly!

Facing a twenty-year prison sentence after surrendering himself, it wouldn’t be much better than how Kieran Janus would suffer.

Heh heh... Sylvan Cheney’s amnesia hadn’t been cured, he still didn’t know he had a son.

Thinking of this, a sinister curve tugged at Kieran Janus’ lips.

Thinking this way, Sylvan Cheney wasn’t doing too well either, unable to remember his own son, separated by thousands of miles.

He had investigated Sylvan Cheney’s private life early on, finding that this man was quite self-contained, scarcely making news in this regard, only occasionally rumored with a few socialites and beauties; the only certainty was he had a son sent to Lonton for schooling.

He had erased this lone piece of information to Sylvan Cheney.

A lifetime without seeing his son, haha, looking at it this way, Sylvan Cheney was hardly enviable.

The heart of Kieran Janus, cut and bleeding profusely, finally had a shred of comfort.

He let out a cold laugh, glanced at Sylvan Cheney, and turned to leave, heading for the delivery room.

Where once it had been noisy, now only Sylvan Cheney was left alone; the light from the crystal chandelier above cast down, stretching his tall shadow quite long.

For a moment, even the air seemed to fall silent, as though he could hear his own heartbeat.

Around him, there was silence.

He didn’t move, didn’t go anywhere, standing in place for a long time, with only the sound of rain in his ears.

The world was a chaotic blur.

The rain was heavy in Old York, the air filled with white rain mist, hazily drifting with the wind, elusive.

The autumn night was cold, silent.
