Chapter 2641: No Sign of Waking Up

After a long while, he put down his phone and walked to the window of the hospital room.

The rain outside was still falling, splattering against the window, forming streams that blurred the view.

Sylvan Cheney’s shirt had already dried. He stood there, unmoving, silently gazing into the distance.

He didn’t go anywhere, just stayed in the hospital room.

He had symptoms of insomnia, so he wasn’t sleepy at this time, merely looking indifferently at the distant night.

The deep night sky, vast and lonely.

At one point, he went to the smoking room to smoke a few cigarettes, only returning to the hospital room when the smoke scent had completely dissipated from his body.

The heat from Jasmine Yale’s body had faded, and she had returned to normal, looking no different than before. Even after giving birth, she showed no signs of weight gain, still thin to the point of being unrecognizable.

Possibly due to going out to discuss business in the evening, she wore no jewelry, her hands clean.

Sylvan Cheney lifted one of her hands and placed it in his palm.

The injury she sustained from falling at the banquet some days ago had healed. Her palm had restored to its original state, but the old scar on her left wrist remained. Although not very noticeable, upon close inspection, the twisted scar was quite striking.

Such a scar was most likely from a knife wound.

Sylvan Cheney’s heart stirred, and the light in his eyes dimmed.

His fingers gently rubbed the not long but not short scar, touching it lightly.

Jasmine Yale was sleeping soundly, unaware of anything, the light casting on her fair and clean face, making her look like a porcelain doll.

After a long time, Sylvan Cheney tucked her arm back under the blanket and covered her properly.

There was a sofa in the hospital room. Sylvan Cheney turned off the light, got a blanket to cover himself, and curled up on the sofa to sleep for the night.

The symptoms of insomnia were obvious, plus the sofa was small, and it was a rainy night, so he couldn’t fall asleep no matter how much he tossed and turned.

In the dark, he closed his eyes, his hands resting flat under his head.

His mind was devoid of thoughts, just the persistent beating of his heart.

The rain poured the entire night.

The next day, the trees outside the hospital filled with the chirping of birds, a flock of birds chattering incessantly, awakening the autumn morning in Cakago.

Fragments of sunlight scattered all over, like shards of gold, vibrant and full of the colors of vitality.

The ground, trees, and tall buildings were all bathed in sunlight, with light filtering through the gaps in the leaves, falling to the ground, forming a chaotic landscape painting.

The morning in the inpatient department was very quiet, even the noise outside the hospital room could not be heard.

Sylvan Cheney had long been awake; he bought porridge and placed it beside the bed in an insulated container.

The nurse came to check on Jasmine Yale.

"Sir, the patient is fine. Her temperature is back to normal. She can be discharged today."

"Alright, I understand."

"Then I’ll step out."

Sylvan Cheney was still wearing the same clothes from last night, standing at the bedside, quietly watching the sleeping Jasmine Yale.

She showed no signs of waking, seeming very tired.

Sylvan Cheney stood by the bed, without a word.

Time passed without him noticing, until the bells of a nearby church began to toll, "Dong" "Dong"...

Jasmine Yale’s fingers twitched, her long eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she woke up.

The sunlight was somewhat glaring, so she placed her right hand on her forehead, blocking half of the light.

"Awake?" Sylvan Cheney’s deep, rich voice resonated.

Jasmine Yale turned her head, her gaze landing on him.

She pressed her lips together, silent, her eyes brighter than yesterday, now full of light and spirit.
