Chapter 83: My Scent On You

On the other side, Xavier, who was picking wild fruits, was in a very good mood. Although Sora was a bit chubby, she felt wonderful in his arms. The skin of a female was different from that of beastmen. Previously, he had scoffed at the mating rituals in the tribe, never understanding why everyone was so addicted to them every day. Now that he had personally experienced it, he finally realized just how good it felt.

Thinking back to everything that had happened yesterday, Xavier’s gaze deepened, and his breathing grew heavier. He truly wanted to do it again.

But first, he needed to feed Sora.

This chubby girl looked quite sturdy, yet she had fainted not long after yesterday. Her body was really too weak.

With that thought, he carefully protected the wild fruits he had picked and walked back toward Sora.

Just as he emerged from the woods, he saw Sora standing beneath a tree beside the path. Seeing that she was awake, he walked over with a smile.

"You’re awake. I picked some wild fruits. We can have breakfast now."

Sora still carried the scent he had left on her, and Xavier couldn’t help sniffing the air again.

Seeing him sniffing, Sora thought about how she could barely move and looked at him darkly.

"Xavier, what are you doing?"

"Of course I’m smelling the scent I left on you."

Snake beastmen liked leaving their scent on things they cherished as a form of marking.

"What?"

Sora stared at him in surprise.

This guy even left a mark?

Xavier said proudly,

"This way, other beastmen will smell your scent and know you belong to me."

Sora glanced around.

There wasn’t another soul nearby.

His possessiveness was really something.

Forget it.

She was too tired to argue.

"Did you go out looking for an exit? Did you find one?"

Having stayed at the bottom of this canyon for a day, she wanted to leave as soon as possible.

At Sora’s question, Xavier’s eyes flickered. He handed her the wild fruits.

"Not yet. Eat the fruit first."

Truthfully, he had begun to think this place wasn’t bad at all.

Just the two of them living here together, carefree and shameless.

Because of that thought, he’d completely forgotten about finding an exit after waking up that morning.

Sora naturally had no idea what Xavier was thinking.

She unceremoniously took one of the wild fruits from his hand, bit into it, and ordered,

"We need to get out early. Otherwise it’ll be dark and foggy again."

She wasn’t feeling well, so she was naturally relying on Xavier. Yesterday he had been quite proactive about searching for a way out, and she never imagined he’d developed other motives.

Still, despite his rough appearance, the fruits he had picked were excellent.

None of them were astringent.

Instead, they were surprisingly sweet.

Seeing Sora eat several more, Xavier realized she liked them. He immediately placed a few more into her hands and gently said,

"Not enough? There’s still more."

Biting into another fruit, Sora looked at Xavier suspiciously.

This guy actually had a gentle side.

After breakfast, Sora felt much stronger.

However, since her body was still aching, she secretly used her wood-type ability to heal herself.

Naturally, she kept the process hidden from Xavier.

Aside from her water ability, she couldn’t openly reveal her other powers.

After all, they were her trump cards for survival.

As the morning sunlight filtered down into the canyon, Sora finally got a good look at the place.

To be honest, it was beautiful.

Everything was lush and full of life.

After taking a quick look around, Sora felt the canyon was rich in resources.

It looked like the sort of place that could produce countless valuable things.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have time to think about that now.

Based on yesterday’s experience, the entire canyon would be swallowed by dense fog after nightfall.

She and Xavier had to escape while visibility remained clear.

After finishing the fruit, Sora prepared to stand.

At that moment, Xavier transformed into his snake form and appeared before her.

Sora stared blankly at him, not understanding what he intended.

Xavier flicked his tail.

"Hurry up and climb on. Aren’t you still feeling unwell?"

Hearing that, Sora couldn’t help blushing.

But remembering everything someone had done yesterday, she decided his offer was only fair.

She lifted her leg and climbed onto Xavier’s back.

Once he confirmed she was seated securely, Xavier began moving forward, his massive body swaying smoothly through the forest.

This time, Sora didn’t have to remind him.

He deliberately slowed his pace, and riding on his back felt remarkably steady.

Looking over the endless forest, Sora frowned.

"Where do we go from here?"

"I don’t know."

"We can only take it one step at a time."

Xavier was actually quite happy.

Simply staying beside Sora was enough to satisfy him.

Pouting, Sora asked,

"Aren’t you a fifth-level beastman? How can you not know the way?"

"I’m a fifth-level beastman, not someone who can fly. How would I know the terrain here? We’ll just have to search."

After thinking for a moment, Sora’s eyes brightened.

There was a river running through the canyon.

Judging from the landscape, the water had to be flowing down from the mountains.

Since they had fallen from above, following the upstream source might lead them to an exit.

With that thought, she used her water ability to sense the nearby currents.

Sure enough, she discovered a spring flowing through the mountains.

She pointed toward it.

"Let’s go that way."

Xavier’s eyes dimmed slightly.

Originally, he had hoped to spend a few more peaceful days here with Sora, enjoying their secluded little world.

Unexpectedly, she had already found a possible escape route.

Reluctantly, Xavier turned and headed in the direction she indicated.

As Sora rode on his back, she continued scanning the surroundings for anything valuable.

Suddenly, a patch of shimmering gold caught her eye.

Under the morning sun, the golden stalks glowed brilliantly.

"I found something good!"

Xavier looked confused.

"Weren’t those just some golden weeds? What’s so special about them?"

Even though he thought so, he obediently stopped.

After climbing down from Xavier’s back, Sora hurried toward the shimmering patch.

When she reached it, she picked up a handful of the grains, rubbed them between her fingers, and revealed the white kernels hidden inside.

Her eyes instantly lit up with excitement.

"Great!"

"I found wheat!"v
