Chapter 2775: Chapter 1190: Biological Shield Machine (3)

The practicality of the charm bracelet was already proven on the Cloud Manta, a creature with similar nature to the Purple Worm, naturally wouldn’t cause much of a stir.

For Gaven, the biggest challenge earlier was to track down the traces of these unique monsters.

Although Cloud Mantas are hard to find, they are located beneath the sky, and there are always many ideas to think about, even ordinary people might encounter them.

However, Purple Worms do not appear on the surface, making it nearly impossible to locate them.

As underground ambushers, they typically do not leave witnesses.

Most witnesses, at first glance, would see their huge mouths, not to mention ordinary people; even transcendent professionals, once swallowed into their stomachs, would be digested in minutes.

After Gaven managed to control all five of the Purple Worms, he promptly checked their attributes.

Their life dice ranged from thirteen to eighteen, specifically the two adult Purple Worms he examined.

Hit Points: 334 (18d20+144)

Body Type: Giant

Strength 28, Dexterity 7, Constitution 26, Intelligence 1, Perception 8, Charisma 8

Bite and Swallow (Special Ability) — If the target is a large or smaller creature, the Purple Worm can directly swallow it whole, causing the target to be blinded and restrained, subjected to crushing and strong acid damage.

If the swallowed being can continuously harm the Purple Worm internally, there is a chance it could force the worm to regurgitate it.

Tail Spike (Special Ability) — The tail of the Purple Worm contains venom, and if pierced, the victim may suffer poison damage.

Tunnel Digger (Special Ability) — The Purple Worm can slowly tunnel through the earth by swallowing soil, as the secretions it produces have the effect of turning mud to stone, leaving a tunnel with a 3-meter diameter behind it.

Vibration Perception (Special Ability) — The Purple Worm can effortlessly sense rather intense tremors kilometers away on the earth’s surface, precisely detect slight movements within a hundred meters, and, within eighteen meters, pinpoint the location of a creature touching the ground, even if it makes no movements or sounds.

Stomach Acid Spray (Special Ability) — Transcendent Power Bonus, the Purple Worm can spray the strong acid from its body, having strong dissolving effects when sprayed on organisms. If sprayed on rocks, it can transform stone to mud, softening them quickly for better digestion.

Petrification Tail Stinger (Special Ability) — Transcendent Physique Bonus, the Purple Worm’s tail spike is further enhanced, granting it petrification capabilities.

There is always a gap between rumor and reality.

Previously, Gaven had always heard that Purple Worms were classified as super giant monsters.

In fact, adult Purple Worms barely reach the edge of super giant monster classification and are far from truly being super giant.

Even so, Gaven was filled with immense joy because the Purple Worm’s series of special abilities were practically custom-made for underground tunnel excavation, making them a natural biological shield machine.

It’s not enough just to have earth-digging capability for tunneling.

Previously in the Bottomless Abyss, Gaven had acquired a batch of Giant Insect Shadows from a Witch Demon Lord, totaling eighteen.

Their form and abilities are remarkably similar to the Purple Worm, and originally, he intended to use them as substitutes for the Purple Worms.

However, after a brief attempt upon returning to the Material Plane, that plan was scrapped.

The Giant Insect Shadows indeed possess tunneling capabilities, and their speed surpasses that of the Purple Worm.

However, the stability of the tunnels they carve, much like the Burrowing Worm, is extremely poor, with frequent collapses.

The reason is simple.

The Giant Insect Shadows have already turned into undead, gaining the traits of shadows but losing their unique biological abilities.

Or to put it another way, the Giant Insect Shadows merely mimic the form and part of the capabilities of the Purple Worm, they weren’t transformed from Purple Worms, but twisted from powerful intelligent souls.

In terms of combat power, Giant Insect Shadows far surpass Purple Worms; a 1V4 fight is absolutely easy.

But in tunneling abilities and shaping earth and stone, not even close to the prowess of Purple Worms.

Of course, this does not mean Giant Insect Shadows are entirely useless.

They have certain advantages in digging open channels since they are undead and can work tirelessly as long as they are not in a sunlit environment.

"Congratulations, my lord, on acquiring another divine tunneling tool. Your path to divinity is bound to get smoother." Susie immediately congratulated Gaven.

As the chief engineer of the Gnoll Road Building Team, she naturally understood the value of the Purple Worm in road and tunnel building, particularly in tunnel excavation, which was a significant weakness for them originally.

"Thanks for your kind words." Gaven modestly accepted the congratulation and spoke to Kellysha and Susie, "I have an experiment that requires some time to verify, please ensure our safety."

"Rest assured, Lord, no monster will touch you unless it crosses over my dead body." Kellysha confidently pledged while patting her ample chest.

After the recent battle, her confidence surged, having easily subdued even the underground behemoth, Purple Worm.

Although not claiming dominion over the entire Dark Domain, she was confident in the surrounding area.

"Hmm." Gaven nods without doubt and says to Earth Bear, "Lord Beary, assist me in the experiment!"

"What does your lordship need me to do?" Earth Bear inquired.

Gaven laid out his plans in detail, saying: "Although the innate abilities of the Purple Worms are formidable, there is significant room for improvement. I wish to try enlightening them, to see if I can endow them with intellect to better execute our divine power."

Enlightenment played a crucial role during the early development stages for Gaven.

The Treants and Enlightened Trees he had awakened continue to play vital roles in his territory.

However, ordinary enlightenment has many limitations, such as the inability to enlighten trees beyond a certain size (like the two towering redwoods Mesnoel has that can’t be enlightened), or powerful magical beasts or monsters (both the Cloud Manta and Purple Worm fall into this category).

Since there is ordinary enlightenment, there must be non-ordinary enlightenment, like the Legendary Enlightenment Technique, or the Divine Enlightenment personally handled by a True God.

Gaven intended to attempt the latter.
