Farming Family's Pocket Dimension: A Charmed Little Lady Comes to Farm
Chapter 325: No One Will Dare to Wrong You Again
Stone went to the courtyard where Housekeeper Wu’s servant was being held. He found out, with little trouble, that the maid named Que’er had been sold to a family in the countryside.
He sent a servant to the inn to deliver a message to Gu Fei.
Upon receiving the message, Gu Fei quickly told Old Huang.
Early the next morning, Old Huang hired a carriage and set off for the countryside.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yu and a few of his servants also left the city early in the morning, heading straight for Great Compassion Temple.
Master Liao Yin was meditating in his chambers when a little monk came in to announce, "The Young Master Heir has arrived and asks to see you."
Master Liao Yin nodded slightly. "Please show him in."
A moment later, Xiao Yu strode in. Master Liao Yin smiled, invited him to sit, and handed him a cup of tea. "You seem troubled, Princely Heir. What brings you here today?"
Xiao Yu accepted the tea, his brow furrowed. With a solemn expression, he said, "Master, I wish to ask you—if someone makes a terrible oath and then comes to regret it, how can it be undone?"
Master Liao Yin closed his eyes and gently shook his head. "All oaths are rooted in cause and effect. An oath is a resolute choice made from the heart in a given moment. If it involves good and evil, one must uphold a benevolent heart and perform good deeds, which can then resolve it. If it makes no distinction between good and evil, then the cause is of the heart. Unravel this emotional cause, repent with sincerity, and naturally, there will be no ill consequences."
Xiao Yu only half-understood. "Master, do you mean that as long as the person who made the oath can resolve their own inner conflict and is willing to repent, then nothing bad will happen?"
Master Liao Yin nodded slowly. "You could put it that way."
"However, I must still advise you, Princely Heir, not to make oaths recklessly in the future. The heavens are always watching."
Xiao Yu frowned. "Is there no other way to undo it? Like transferring the oath to another person, or perhaps observing a vegetarian diet, chanting sutras, and performing religious services?"
Master Liao Yin smiled faintly. "As I have said, this is a matter of cause and effect. Undo the cause, and there will naturally be no effect."
"You must be clear, Princely Heir, on what the ’cause’ is."
Xiao Yu fell silent. ’Gu Fei’s humiliation was the cause. Her desire to prove her innocence was the cause. If the oath was her own resolute choice, it meant she had never had any unnecessary feelings for me, and she was certain she never would.’
This realization made Xiao Yu’s face turn deathly pale. He sat silently in the meditation chamber for a long while before leaving, looking utterly crestfallen.
Stone saw his master’s grim expression and didn’t dare to speak, only following silently behind.
Xiao Yu left the temple, mounted his horse, and headed back to the city. Before he knew it, he had arrived at Furong Street.
His horse hesitated at the inn’s entrance. Suddenly, Xiao Yu dismounted and walked inside.
Gu Fei had seen Xiao Yu long before he entered. His horse was pacing uncertainly at the entrance, and the young man astride it wore a deep frown.
Seeing Xiao Yu dismount and enter, Gu Fei quickly rose, came out from behind the counter, and curtsied with lowered eyes. "Young Master Heir."
Xiao Yu stared at her, his eyes fixed. ’Is she an enchantress? Every time I see her, she seems even more beautiful.’
’I wonder if it’s just my imagination.’
Upon seeing Xiao Yu enter, the few attendants stationed in the main hall quickly made themselves scarce, some slipping out the front door and others retreating to the back courtyard.
Before long, only Xiao Yu and Gu Fei remained in the main hall. Even Stone stood by the doorway, not daring to come inside.
Xiao Yu suddenly took a step closer and said in a low voice, "This was my fault. I am the one who caused you to suffer such grievances."
Gu Fei looked up in surprise, staring at Xiao Yu as if she didn’t recognize him. ’This overbearing young master is actually apologizing?’
Xiao Yu lowered his voice, looking down to gaze at Gu Fei. "Rest assured, I’ve dealt with all of them. From now on, no one will dare to cause you any grief."
He hesitated for a moment before adding vaguely, "And as for that... oath, you don’t need to take it to heart."
"I—"
