Farming Family's Pocket Dimension: A Charmed Little Lady Comes to Farm
Chapter 252: Gossip Must Be Shared
Gu Fei raised an eyebrow slightly. It was a good thing that Old Huang was livening up, but the girl was so young he could have easily been her father.
’Whatever, it’s none of my business. A willing buyer, a willing seller,’ she thought.
She smiled. "Since you’re taking a concubine, aren’t you going to throw a banquet or something?" ’He should at least celebrate his new life,’ she mused.
Old Huang waved his hand dismissively. "A banquet? For what!"
"Oh, right, I have to ask something of you. From now on, when you’re behind that counter, keep an eye out for me. You absolutely must not let her out this door."
The girl’s head shot up to look at Old Huang, her eyes filled with terror.
Gu Fei was also stunned for a moment. ’What kind of request is that? So just because she’s his concubine, she loses all her freedom?’
"Mr. Huang, I can’t agree to that."
"She’s your person. You should watch her yourself."
Old Huang just smiled and said no more. He beckoned to the girl. "I live in the back courtyard. Come on, let’s go to my room."
The girl looked like she was on the verge of tears. She wrung her hands, her feet dragging as she moved.
Gu Fei’s lips twitched. She turned and went back to her seat behind the counter.
Propping her chin on her hand, she felt that the more she thought about it, the less sense it made.
’This Old Huang... he hasn’t taken a concubine all this time, so why now? Why pick today, of all days?’
Today was the day Housekeeper Wu had been dealt a harsh lesson by Xiao Yu.
’Housekeeper Wu and Old Huang are definitely enemies. Housekeeper Wu suffers a setback, and Old Huang takes a concubine. There has to be a connection.’
But Gu Fei just couldn’t put the pieces together.
Unable to figure it out, Gu Fei put it out of her mind.
...
That evening, Aunt Liu returned home.
Before she even stepped inside, she saw her husband at the door weaving a bamboo basket. She couldn’t wait to share the latest gossip with her old man.
"I really saw something amazing today."
The Village Chief’s hands didn’t stop moving. He snorted, "Women... always so dramatic. What would you know about ’something amazing’?"
Aunt Liu slapped him soundly. "You damn old coot, you just listen to me."
Just as she was about to speak, her aunt from next door, who was hanging up laundry, walked over. "Saw something amazing, did you? Let me in on it."
Aunt Liu quickly pulled up a chair for her. "It’s about your niece, Little Fei."
"Let me tell you, that niece of yours is really something else. And your second brother, I think he’s about to hit the big time."
The Village Chief pricked up his ears and listened intently.
"I mean, what kind of luck does Little Fei have? We’ve only been in this city for a short while, and she already knows the Young Master Heir! Ordinary folks like us can’t even get a glimpse of someone like that!"
The Village Chief quickly cut in, "What Young Master Heir?"
Aunt Liu rolled her eyes at him. "The Young Master Heir of the Prince Qi Mansion."
The Village Chief’s hand jerked, and he cut himself on a bamboo splinter. "That’s not possible. This East Sea County is King Qi’s fiefdom. The Heir of Prince Qi... what an incredible figure! How could Little Fei know him?"
Aunt Liu snorted. "Why would I lie? The Princely Heir himself came to the shop today and even had a meal."
Aunt Liu then launched into the story, recounting everything that had happened that afternoon until both the Village Chief and the aunt were left completely dumbfounded.
After a long silence, the aunt finally managed, "That Young Master Heir certainly has an imposing air."
Aunt Liu said smugly, "Tell me about it! The government officer, the housekeeper, they were both kneeling on the ground slapping their own faces. You should have seen it! They slapped their faces until they were swollen like pig heads, but they didn’t dare stop."
Aunt Liu winked slyly, then lowered her voice and whispered in the aunt’s ear, "And if you ask me, the Young Master Heir thinks of Little Fei as someone special."
The aunt gasped. "That can’t be, can it? I mean, considering who the Young Master Heir is... no matter how wonderful Little Fei is, she’s still—"
