Farming Family's Pocket Dimension: A Charmed Little Lady Comes to Farm
Chapter 225: Pants on Backward
Xiao Lu led the pair to a table in the main hall. Grinning, he asked, "What can I get for you two? We have Red-Braised Lion’s Head Meatballs, Squirrel-Shaped Mandarin Fish, Boiled Shredded Tofu, Tofu Pottage, Three-Set Duck, crystal pork aspic..."
After Xiao Lu reeled off the long list of dishes, the middle-aged man smiled again. "This young waiter is certainly sharp."
He ordered a few dishes, and Xiao Lu headed to the kitchen.
Xing’er took a deep breath to steel herself, then walked over to pour tea for the guests.
Gu Fei watched with a gentle smile.
The man chuckled again. "Your establishment is certainly peculiar. A young lady for a Shopkeeper, and another young lady for a waitress."
Xing’er grew a little nervous but did her best to maintain her smile. "Actually, girls make for better servers. We’re more meticulous."
The customer simply smiled, offering no comment.
In the time it took to drink a cup of tea, the food was ready from the kitchen.
The middle-aged man nodded. "This tastes pretty good."
By now, it was the middle of the afternoon, around two o’clock. As the old saying goes: spring brings drowsiness, autumn brings fatigue, and summer brings snoozes. Sitting behind the counter, Gu Fei felt herself starting to nod off.
Suddenly, someone burst through the entrance, their footsteps pounding loudly. Gu Fei snapped awake. Taking a closer look, she saw it was Young Master Zhou.
Young Master Zhou looked panicked. As he sprinted toward the back door, he yelled, "Don’t tell anyone I was here!"
Before the words had even faded, he was gone without a trace.
’What in the world just happened?’
Gu Fei stared at the back door, completely baffled. The moment she averted her gaze, she saw Sister Dan from down the street sprinting by with a piece of firewood, dashing past the inn’s entrance in the blink of an eye.
A good while later, Gu Fei saw Sister Dan again, pacing back and forth with the piece of firewood.
As she passed the inn’s entrance, Sister Dan paused, then stepped inside. "Have you seen that good-for-nothing husband of mine?" she asked Gu Fei.
Gu Fei pursed her lips, her eyes fixed on the piece of firewood in Sister Dan’s hand. "No," she said gravely. "What’s wrong?"
Sister Dan planted a hand on her hip, plopped the firewood onto the counter, and sat down on a high stool. "That shameless bastard!" she fumed. "I take one little afternoon nap, and he dares to go out looking for trouble!"
Sister Dan cursed and grumbled for a long time.
Gu Fei finally pieced together the story.
It turned out that after the couple had lunch and returned home, Sister Dan had taken a nap. Young Master Zhou had supposedly been napping right beside her.
When Sister Dan woke up, Young Master Zhou was nowhere to be found. She checked their shop out front, but he wasn’t there either.
A short while later, Young Master Zhou returned from outside.
Sister Dan asked him where he had been.
"Nowhere in particular," Young Master Zhou replied. "Just went for a walk down the street."
Sister Dan knew very well that her husband was a womanizer; if she took her eyes off him for a second, he’d be up to no good.
Her suspicions already aroused, she leaned in closer to sniff him and caught a faint, sweet scent on his clothes.
Sister Dan grabbed hold of Young Master Zhou. "You’d better come clean! Where were you? Were you off seeing some other vixen?"
Young Master Zhou, of course, denied it. "It’s nothing! You’re always so paranoid!"
Unconvinced, Sister Dan held him fast. "I don’t believe you! There’s definitely a fragrance on you. You’re going to explain yourself, and you’re going to do it now!"
As they struggled, Young Master Zhou’s robe was accidentally pulled open.
It revealed his underpants.
Sister Dan glanced down. Those underpants... she remembered him putting them on correctly that morning. But now, they were unmistakably on inside-out!
"You son of a bitch! And you dare lie to me!" Sister Dan exploded. "It’s obvious you were off having fun somewhere—you put your pants on inside-out!" Furious, she grabbed him and raised a hand to strike.
Young Master Zhou wriggled free, clutched his robe around himself, and bolted out the door.
Sister Dan gave chase, snatching up a piece of firewood from the courtyard as she ran.
But by the time she got outside, Young Master Zhou was nowhere to be seen.
