Farming Family's Pocket Dimension: A Charmed Little Lady Comes to Farm
Chapter 200: Your Bone Structure is Extraordinary
Old Huang, gnawing on a chicken leg, saw Gu Fei shaking her head and sighing. "Little girl, what’s on your mind?" he asked.
Gu Fei replied, "I was just wondering why bad people don’t get what they deserve."
Old Huang stared blankly at Gu Fei for a long moment before asking, "You’ve heard everything?"
Gu Fei nodded. "I heard people talking."
A bitter smile touched the corners of Old Huang’s lips. "This is a debt I owe from my past life. In this one, he’s just here to collect."
Gu Fei comforted him, "Mr. Huang, don’t lose heart."
"Just you wait. Once I think of a good plan to deal with that Er Laizi, you’ll be able to open your shop again."
"You still seem young to me. Once the shop is open, you can get married, have a child, and you’ll have everything."
Old Huang shook his head. "I gave up on those things a long time ago. I just live one day at a time now."
"Little girl, you don’t need to fight this old man’s battles."
"That guy’s a real leech. Once he gets his hooks in you, you can’t shake him off. You shouldn’t get yourself into trouble over this."
Gu Fei stood up. "Mr. Huang, I’m heading back now. I’ll come visit again the next time I’m in the city."
Just as she turned to leave, she heard a voice ask, "What are you doing here?"
Gu Fei looked up to see Xiao Yu on horseback, his deep, dark eyes fixed on her.
Gu Fei touched her forehead. ’How did I run into this guy again?’
"Nothing," Gu Fei answered sullenly.
Xiao Yu glanced at Old Huang on the ground. The old man, clutching the roast chicken, was also staring blankly back at him.
Xiao Yu looked away, then snorted softly at Gu Fei. "Why did you run off last night?"
Gu Fei said in a low voice, "If I hadn’t run, you would’ve tried to force me to agree to that matter again."
"I—" Before Xiao Yu could finish, Stone cut in, "Master, we have to go. We were already late setting out today."
Xiao Yu stared at Gu Fei for a long moment. "I have something to do. Wait—I’ll find you later to talk when I’m free." With that, he spurred his horse and galloped away.
Gu Fei let out a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to climb onto her mule cart, Mr. Huang, who had been sitting on the ground, suddenly stood up. "Little girl, come over here! Didn’t you say you wanted to rent my shop? I’ll rent it to you."
Gu Fei turned to look at Mr. Huang and hesitated. She really wanted to rent the shop, but that Er Laizi was definitely trouble.
Seeing Gu Fei’s hesitation, Old Huang goaded her, "Don’t tell me you’re scared of my scoundrel of a brother, little girl? Weren’t you just saying you’d figure out a way to help me deal with him? Turns out you were just humoring an old man."
Young people are so easily provoked. Gu Fei turned and walked toward Old Huang. "It’s not that I’m afraid of him, I just don’t want trouble."
She tilted her head to look at Old Huang. "You’re a strange one. A moment ago, you were telling me not to get involved with him. Why the sudden change of heart?"
Old Huang chuckled. "I can see, young lady, that you have a remarkable bearing and a dignified air. You’re obviously a person of great fortune, destined to turn misfortune into good luck."
The corner of Gu Fei’s mouth twitched. ’Yeah, right. As if I’d believe that.’
’This old man is definitely up to something.’
Still, he was just a single ruffian; Gu Fei wasn’t truly afraid. In this era, the most frightening thing was power.
’No, except for in the apocalypse, the most terrifying thing in any era is power.’
Gu Fei looked at Old Huang. "So, shall we discuss this first?"
Old Huang nodded with a grin. "Inside, let’s talk inside."
He pushed the door open, and Gu Fei followed him inside. Lian’er quickly followed suit.
Old Huang shut the door behind him. "This way, please."
