Chapter 329: Chapter 329: The Sixth Yi Stone

Xiaqing wholeheartedly agreed with the Broken Waist Wolf’s fickleness.

So, she traded a suit of Dog Protective Clothing and a newly made wooden door for a walnut-sized Yi Stone.

This was the seventh Yi Stone Xiaqing had obtained from the Wolf Group, and the sixth one she currently possessed.

On July 19th, the Head Wolf brought the Broken Waist Wolf and the Broken Leg Wolf to the Third Territory seeking medical treatment, giving Xiaqing four pigeon-egg-sized Yi Stones. Xiaqing gave one to Luo Pei, who had come over to help, and kept three for herself.

On August 9th, the Head Wolf gave Xiaqing a walnut-sized Yi Stone to save the critically ill Sick Wolf.

On September 19th, the Broken Waist Wolf traded a walnut-sized Yi Stone for two suits of Dog Protective Clothing.

Today, October 20th, the Broken Waist Wolf and the Head Wolf returned to the territory and traded a walnut-sized Yi Stone for a suit of Dog Protective Clothing and a newly made wooden door.

According to the Yi Stone classification standards, all of these were Intermediate-grade. Once their shells were broken, they would release Yi Elements to drive away Harmful Elements for a period of two months.

Currently, Xiaqing had already partitioned two of the pigeon-egg-sized Yi Stones.

One of them was being used for the food storage room, the High Yi Element Green Light Spinach field, the refrigerator, herself, Sheep Leader, Sick Wolf, the Broken Waist Wolf, and the Broken Leg Wolf.

The other was broken open and used to protect the Green Rice, chickens, and fish during the third Harmful Rain. After the Harmful Rain, Xiaqing collected these Yi Stone fragments and sealed them in a Yi Stone Protection Shell, waiting for the next Harmful Rain to use them again.

The underground food storage room was fitted with 6-gram Yi Stone fragments, which needed to be replaced every two months. This meant a total of 72 grams of Intermediate Yi Stone were required annually to ensure the food in the storage room was protected from Harmful Elements and the rapidly multiplying bacteria within them.

Besides the basement, the refrigerator also required long-term protection with Yi Stones. Xiaqing, who never neglected her own well-being, also needed to wear a Yi Stone long-term, as did her companions, Sheep Leader and Sick Wolf. All told, not counting the amount used during Harmful Rains, the Third Territory’s annual consumption of Intermediate Yi Stone was 144 grams.

The pigeon-egg-sized Yi Stones Xiaqing traded for with the Wolf Group weighed 30 grams each, while the walnut-sized ones weighed 80 grams. This meant that, including regular use and what was needed for Harmful Rains, the Yi Stones Xiaqing currently had were enough to last for two years.

On Crazy Blue Star, where Natural Disasters could strike at any moment, two years was a considerably long time. This gave Xiaqing a great sense of security.

If she could continue to satisfy the needs of the Wolf Group, especially the Head Wolf and the Broken Waist Wolf, that ’great sense of security’ would become an ’overwhelming sense of security’.

So, Xiaqing eagerly asked, "Handsome Wolf Brother, the wooden door will be sturdier and more durable if it’s painted. It’s been raining these past two days, so it’s not convenient for you and the Queen to transport the door back anyway. How about I give it two coats of paint first? For free."

The Broken Waist Wolf, who had a keen eye for aesthetics, stared at the wooden door, seemingly admiring the grain of the beechwood.

Since it didn’t make a sound, Xiaqing took that as a yes.

After the door was painted, it was placed under the ventilated eaves to air dry. Just as Xiaqing was about to have dinner, she heard a warning from her security monitor.

Xiaqing pulled out her phone to look. Holy cow! The Head Wolf, who had left two hours ago, had actually returned with a kill weighing over thirty pounds.

After the Head Wolf placed the prey in front of Xiaqing, the Broken Waist Wolf headed out of the territory into the light rain, apparently off to hunt as well.

Seeing the Head Wolf’s already bulging belly, Xiaqing beamed. "Thank you for the kill, Queen. You’ve worked hard."

A kill chosen by the Head Wolf was guaranteed to be top quality. This prey, an unknown evolved species, was, without a doubt, Green Light.

Xiaqing quickly skinned and cleaned the prey. She divided the entrails into two portions, giving half to the Head Wolf to eat and boiling the other half for Sick Wolf.

Sick Wolf’s body was gradually recovering, and its appetite was growing larger.

She set aside a few large bones to make a bone and radish soup, then put the remaining meat and bones in the freezer for storage.

When the aroma of bone soup filled the courtyard, the Broken Waist Wolf returned with a full stomach. After washing its paws under the eaves, it began grooming its rain-soaked fur while staring at the chicken coop.

Only then did Xiaqing remember that she hadn’t collected the eggs today.

After opening the coop door, going in for a look, and coming back out, Xiaqing showed the Broken Waist Wolf her day’s harvest. "Three eggs today. Our chickens are so productive."

The Broken Waist Wolf glanced at the eggs, then went back to studying the chicken coop door.

"Remember to wipe your paws before you come inside," Xiaqing reminded it before heading indoors, not paying it any more mind.

The light rain, the night, her companions, and the Green Light meat—these four elements intertwined to create a home filled with happiness and warmth.

Sick Wolf’s vegetable and meat porridge had cooled to room temperature and was ready to eat. Xiaqing brought out Sick Wolf’s food bowl and Sheep Leader’s bowl of concentrate feed, placing them on their shared "dining table." Only then did she bring out her own radish and bone soup and mixed-flour steamed buns made from white and corn flour. She ate while listening to the radio.

Today’s agricultural knowledge broadcast was about the key points to note when sowing winter wheat. After listening intently, Xiaqing looked up and saw the Head Wolf eating the meat porridge from Sick Wolf’s bowl. She smiled secretly, like a cunning little fox.

She had intentionally made more meat porridge than Sick Wolf could eat, hoping the Head Wolf and the Broken Waist Wolf would try it. If they liked it, they might trade prey or Yi Stones for her delicious food.

This wasn’t something to be rushed; she had to plan it out slowly.

Xiaqing pretended she hadn’t seen the Head Wolf eating the cooked food. After cleaning up her bowl and chopsticks, she addressed the wolves and Sheep Leader, "I’m going upstairs to take my medicinal bath. Second, you listen for any movements in the territory. If any intruders appear, notify me immediately. Queen, Broken Waist, you two get some rest."

Ten days had passed since she last used the Body Injury Healing Potion, so today was the day for the second dose.

She had thought the pain would be less severe this second time, but after submerging herself, Xiaqing once again experienced the same agony as before. Every pore, every muscle, and every bone in her body ached terribly.

Sick Wolf had gone out to patrol the territory in its Protective Suit. On the first-floor tatami mat, Sheep Leader was chewing its cud with its eyes closed, nestled right next to the Head Wolf. The Head Wolf and Broken Waist Wolf were also resting with their eyes closed.

But a closer look would reveal that both wolves’ ears twitched slightly whenever Xiaqing couldn’t help but cry out in pain.

After soaking for a full hour, Xiaqing climbed out of the tub and rested for another hour. Forcing her exhausted body, she went downstairs, poured the medicinal liquid from her tub into Sheep Leader’s, and used an immersion heater to bring it to a suitable temperature. Then, she weakly called to her companion, "Leader, come take your bath."

The potency of the medicine diluted in the Pollution-free Spring Water would decrease if left overnight. Xiaqing had taken her bath earlier today precisely so her two companions could absorb more of its effects.

Only after Xiaqing had called three times did Sheep Leader slowly enter the bathroom, coaxed by Xiaqing into the bath.

The medicinal bath was more potent this time, and Sheep Leader’s pain was even more pronounced than before. However, it didn’t struggle as much. It must have experienced the benefits after the pain of the last bath.

After 40 minutes, Sheep Leader couldn’t take it anymore and struggled, wanting Xiaqing to get it out of the water.

With trembling hands, Xiaqing lifted her companion out. After rinsing the medicinal liquid off its body with the showerhead, she called to Sick Wolf, who had returned from patrol, "Second, come take your medicinal bath. You’ll be stronger after you soak."

Sick Wolf also showed fear but obediently entered the bathroom.

It was still very brave, enduring for a full hour while trembling from the pain before Xiaqing helped it out of the water.

After finishing the medicinal baths for her two companions, the exhausted Xiaqing shakily got to her feet, only to find the Head Wolf sitting majestically at the bathroom door, staring at the bathtub.
