"Captain Xie?"

Getting a sudden call so late at night from the Green Dragon Team’s second-in-command, Xiaqing’s first reaction was that something had happened with Luo Pei.

Xie Yu laid out the situation. "Xiaqing, more than twenty Evolutionary Wolves have gathered on the edge of the marshes north of Mountain No. 49. Their purpose is unclear. Can you bring your Evolutionary Wolf to the monitoring room in No.1 Territory?"

For the past six months, the only Wolf Group active near Mountain No. 49 had been the Queen and her pack. With Luo Pei being treated inside No.1 Territory and Xie Yu also present, it was clear the situation had become serious. If the Wolf Group entered the vicinity of Mountain No. 49, a conflict with the Green Dragon Team was highly likely.

Xiaqing stood up immediately. "I’ll be at the Northern Isolation Zone in ten minutes."

Xie Yu immediately gestured to Hu Zifeng’s team nearby. "Alright. Hu Zifeng will pick you up, and I’ll send people to protect the Third Territory."

After hanging up, Xiaqing quickly put on her Protective Suit, slung her sniper rifle over her back, grabbed plenty of Bullets, and took the Sick Wolf’s Protective Mask downstairs. She instructed the Sheep Leader, who was resting on a tatami mat, "Leader, I’m taking Second out on a mission. You watch the house. Hu Zifeng’s team will guard the rest of the territory."

The Sheep Leader turned its head to look at the pitch-black window, then looked back at Xiaqing.

A short while after he went in, four people came out, including Xie Yu. Xie Yu greeted Xiaqing, "You and Hu Zifeng take the wolf inside. I’ll wait out here."

The Queen wasn’t there. Neither were Broken Waist Wolf, Broken Leg Wolf, or a Black Wolf and Gray Wolf she recognized.

Xiaqing rubbed the Sick Wolf’s chin, pointed to the screen, and asked softly, "Second, are these wolves your packmates?"

The Sick Wolf, squatting beside Xiaqing, opened its mouth, lolled out its tongue, and panted happily.

Xiaqing understood. "These are the Queen’s and Second’s packmates..."

Before Xiaqing could finish, she heard Xie Yu speaking to Hu Zifeng over the radio. "Hu Zifeng, tell Xiaqing the Wolf Group has crossed the marsh and is about to enter the Mountain No. 49 area. Camera six."

"Roger that. Xiaqing’s Evolutionary Wolf has confirmed this group of wolves are its packmates." As he spoke, Hu Zifeng pointed to the monitor for camera six on the surveillance wall for Xiaqing to see. "The Wolf Group is following the exact route Qian Lin and his team took this afternoon."

Hu Zifeng then relayed another message from Xie Yu. "Xiaqing, can you have Second drive this Wolf Group away? We don’t want to clash with them."

"I’ll try." Xiaqing spoke to the Sick Wolf. "Second, some humans are trying to lure your pack here to capture them. Can you get your packmates to retreat to a safe place?"

Noticing that two wolves had already appeared on the monitor, Xiaqing pointed to the screen and repeated her words to the Sick Wolf, her tone very serious.

The Sick Wolf stopped panting, turned, and walked out of the monitoring room. It tilted its head back and let out a long, drawn-out howl.

"AWOOOOO—"

The Sick Wolf’s body was much healthier now, and its howl was much louder. Xiaqing could hear a clear warning in its call.

After the Sick Wolf’s third howl, Hu Zifeng came out of the monitoring room. "The Wolf Group is starting to retreat."

Xiaqing patted the Sick Wolf’s neck and stuffed a piece of jerky into the pocket of its Protective Suit. "Second, you head home first. I still have some business to take care of. Protect our chickens."

The Sick Wolf nuzzled Xiaqing’s leg, then turned and disappeared into the night.

Hu Zifeng gave Xiaqing a thumbs-up. ’Awesome.’ This wolf was even more obedient to Xiaqing than before it left the territory during the migratory bird season. This wolf was no longer a wild wolf from the Evolution Forest, but Xiaqing’s tamed beast.

Xiaqing said to Hu Zifeng, "Captain Hu, have Brother Kuan and the others keep an eye on my territory for a little longer. I’m going to take care of Qian Lin’s squad."

Before Hu Zifeng could reply, Xie Yu walked over with his men. "Sister Qing, go back and rest. They won’t live through the night."
