Chapter 185: Chapter 185: Two Green Light Hares

Strictly speaking, the location Xiaqing chose for her third cellar wasn’t under the warehouse, but to the south of it. She only built the entrance inside the warehouse for concealment.

That’s right; the third cellar wasn’t a straight drop down. Instead, it was sloped and had a bend. After a few discussions in the Lord group chat and considering everyone’s opinions, Xiaqing concluded that this kind of cellar design would slow the exchange of temperature and humidity with the outside, making climate control easier.

Of course, Xiaqing planned to install temperature and humidity control equipment in this cellar. ’But even with equipment, you still have to think about energy conservation, right?’

Since her right hand was injured, Xiaqing didn’t rush to start construction. Over the next two days, she needed to hide anything on her territory that she didn’t want others to see.

Xiaqing had always taken great care to protect and conceal the spring’s location. Even Hu Zifeng’s team, who had been roaming her territory, hadn’t found it. Zhang Yong and Xu Juan wouldn’t be able to find it either.

The grain, potatoes, sealed food, jars of pickled cowpeas and cucumbers, and so on were all moved by Xiaqing into the cellar under the tool shed, protected by Yi Stones.

The Yi Element Detector was too bulky to hide, so Xiaqing covered it with a pile of worthless, inconspicuous, but very heavy supplies.

Once she got through this current crisis and the wound on the web of her hand healed, she would start digging the third cellar. If Zhang San still hadn’t returned by the time the cellar was finished, Xiaqing would trade with Yang Jin for the climate control equipment. With Yang Jin’s skills, he could definitely get it, but given how cunning he was, his asking price would certainly be higher than Zhang San’s.

It wasn’t that Zhang San wasn’t cunning, but he was a glutton. As long as Xiaqing could offer Green Light food that interested him, the trade price would be very satisfactory to her.

Around noon, just after twelve, Xiaqing gave the Sick Wolf its second dose of medicine for the day.

The Sick Wolf had been sleeping or unconscious for half the day. To avoid any waste, Xiaqing simply dissolved the medicinal powder in warm spring water and used a syringe to squirt it down the wolf’s throat. Afterward, she applied another dose of Anti-inflammatory medicine to its eye.

Xiaqing couldn’t tell how the treatment for the internal parasites was going, but the swelling in the Sick Wolf’s eye, which had been pierced by Evolution Grass Seeds, was already starting to go down.

A little after three in the afternoon, the Sick Wolf woke up. It staggered to its feet and started walking outside. Xiaqing, who had been keeping an eye on the sheep pen, immediately came out of the house and opened the insect-proof screen door for it. "You’re awake? Feeling any better?"

The Sick Wolf first went to the nearby latrine and relieved itself for a while before returning to Xiaqing’s side, its legs weak. It nuzzled its body against her leg. The gesture was exactly like Sheep Leader’s.

This was the first time Xiaqing had ever been nuzzled by a wolf. She could definitely feel the wolf’s goodwill, but she could also feel how truly thin and weak it was. "Want some water?"

Afraid it couldn’t see, Xiaqing tapped the water basin. The Sick Wolf fumbled its way over, took a few sips, and lay down again.

Xiaqing closed the screen door and resignedly went to cover and burn the wolf’s waste. This time, there were fewer parasites in its droppings than in the morning, and only a few were still alive.

A little after eight in the evening, Xiaqing gave the Sick Wolf another dose of medicine. Seeing that its condition had improved since the afternoon, she fed it some Green Light dried rabbit meat that had been softened by boiling in spring water.

Xiaqing had asked Chang Li, who confirmed that wolves, like dogs, can eat cooked meat. Moreover, given the Sick Wolf’s current physical condition, it was best for it to eat cooked meat to prevent parasitic infections. The Head Wolf had brought this rabbit, and Xiaqing, too busy to cure it, had simply sliced, roasted, and sealed it for storage.

After expelling parasites five times in one day, the wolf was so weak it needed Sheep Leader to support it with its body just to stand. After slowly eating the boiled jerky, it obliged her by not throwing it up.

Xiaqing was relieved. She gave Hu Zifeng a heads-up and went to bed before nine, not even joining the scheduled chat on the Lord channel.

A little after two in the morning, Xiaqing got up to check on the Sick Wolf in the sheep pen. She gave it the first dose of medicine for the day, then instructed Sheep Leader, who was sleeping in the pen, "I’m going to the back mountain to change the dressing for the injured wolf. You stay home and take care of your friend. Captain Hu and his men are on night watch in the cabin. If there’s danger, take your friend and go to them."

"BAA."

Sheep Leader obliged with a bleat. Xiaqing avoided the Su Feng Team’s surveillance, left the Third Territory, and entered the cave in the Wild Boar Breeding Center within Zone Three of Mountain 49 to change the Brain Domain Evolution Wolf’s dressing.

The Head Wolf wasn’t there; guarding the cave tonight were two wolves Xiaqing had never seen before. They had just bared their fangs at Xiaqing when a whimpering sound came from inside the cave. The two wolves retracted their fangs and entered the cave.

That whimpering sound hadn’t come from the Head Wolf, nor from the injured Brain Domain Evolution Wolf. It had come from the fierce broken leg wolf. Xiaqing raised an eyebrow. ’Looks like this wolf’s status in the pack isn’t low either.’

The faint sound of a splint hitting pebbles came from the cave, and the broken leg wolf emerged first, staring fiercely at Xiaqing.

Xiaqing was used to this kind of glare and didn’t feel anything. She took an iron basin and a water bottle from her backpack, poured the medicine into the basin, and then added half a basin of spring water. "Go on, drink."

This wolf didn’t need Xiaqing to change its dressing, but every time, it would sneak a few sips of the Broken Waist Wolf’s medicine water. Of course, it was also possible it believed it was entitled to a share.

While the broken leg wolf was drinking the medicine water, the Broken Waist Wolf crawled out of the cave using its two front legs. The Strength in its forelimbs had increased, and its hind legs could now provide some support.

Xiaqing greeted it in a low voice, "Drink the medicine water first, then I’ll change your dressing."

The Brain Domain Evolution Wolf moved to the edge of the basin and took a few sips. It let out an "AWOO," and another wolf emerged from the cave, staring at Xiaqing with extreme vigilance.

Xiaqing took a few steps back, her back against the rock, and assumed a defensive posture. She beckoned to the Broken Waist Wolf, "Come here, let me change your dressing."

Only after the Brain Domain Evolution Wolf had crawled in front of her did Xiaqing crouch down with her back to the rock, unfasten the Protective Equipment on its waist and abdomen, and begin changing the dressing. The highly vigilant wolf immediately took the opportunity to drink from the basin.

Xiaqing pretended not to see and focused on examining the Broken Waist Wolf’s wound. The wound was healing well, and feeling the bone, she found no misalignment. Logically, it no longer needed a dressing change. But Xiaqing wasn’t a doctor, so she couldn’t decide whether to use medicine or what kind to use.

She took a picture of the wound with her phone before changing its dressing and securing the Protective Equipment.

Just as Xiaqing was about to leave, the Head Wolf emerged from the cave with two rabbits in its mouth and placed them in front of her.

By now, Xiaqing understood the Head Wolf’s way of thinking. "Queen, of these two pieces of prey, one is for the wolf recuperating at my place, and the other is for me, right?"

The Head Wolf’s lavish gold eyes stared at Xiaqing, showing no sign of disagreement.

Xiaqing poured all the remaining spring water from her bottle into the basin and praised her sincerely, "Thank you for the rabbits, Queen. You’ve worked hard, Queen. Please, have some water."

While the Head Wolf went to drink, Xiaqing quickly sealed the two rabbits and stuffed them into her backpack. Even though she had argued with the Wolf Group two days ago and they had almost come to blows, they hadn’t completely fallen out. Xiaqing didn’t hesitate to take what was hers.

Only after the water in the basin was gone did Xiaqing pick it up and stuff it into her backpack. "I’m heading back. I’ll come again the day after tomorrow. Don’t worry, the Sick Wolf is looking better. It probably won’t die."
