Chapter 164: Chapter 164: The Ingenious Use of Spinach Juice

"BAA~"

The Sheep Leader even put on its cutesy voice. It seemed the spinach leaves were working on it.

Xiaqing happily rubbed the Sheep Leader’s head. "It’s a waste to eat it like this. I’ll go process it. You wait here."

With a tasty treat on the way, how could the Sheep Leader possibly stay put? It scrambled up and trotted happily after Xiaqing, waiting for its food.

Xiaqing took out the juicer she had traded with Zhang San from the wooden cabinet, washed the spinach leaves, and juiced them. Just under half a basket of spinach leaves yielded only ninety milliliters of spinach juice, but it was enough to drink.

Xiaqing then went to the second-floor storage room and retrieved the medicine she had also traded with Zhang San. She carefully dripped six drops into the spinach juice and stirred it evenly. Then, she used a syringe to draw fifteen milliliters of the vibrant green spinach juice and squirted it into her own mouth, a look of bliss on her face.

This was no ordinary spinach juice. This was spinach juice with a Yi Element content of 0.06%, making it even more effective than the Special Level Nutrient Liquid sold in the Safe Zone for two thousand points per fifteen milliliters.

The Special Level Nutrient Liquid could not only rapidly replenish stamina but also repair physical damage. Although its effects weren’t as good as Yi Liquid, it had no side effects.

The way Xiaqing prepared the nutrient liquid made her look like a witch brewing a potion. But the Sheep Leader didn’t know what a witch was. It just stared at Xiaqing with longing. "BAA~"

’I want some.’

"Alright," Xiaqing agreed. She drew another twenty milliliters of spinach juice with the syringe and squirted it directly into the Sheep Leader’s mouth. The Sheep Leader drank every last drop, then looked up at Xiaqing with longing again, letting out that cutesy voice:

"BAA~"

’I want more.’

"This stuff is too potent. You can’t have too much, or your body won’t be able to handle it." Xiaqing didn’t feed it any more. She fetched the two wolves’ water bowl, poured out the water inside, and then squirted thirty milliliters of spinach juice into it.

Thirty milliliters of spinach juice barely covered the bottom of the bowl, but it was worth over four thousand points. Xiaqing placed the water bowl in front of the sheep pen and introduced it to her two SVIP guests. "This is spinach juice that can heal ultrasound damage. You two should both have a few sips. You’ll feel better after you drink it."

The broken leg wolf ignored the water bowl. Though its gaze at Xiaqing was no longer vicious, it was still full of wildness, making communication impossible.

The Brain Domain Evolution Wolf, however, could communicate. After hearing Xiaqing’s words, it used its recovering forelimbs to support its body, crawled out, and lowered its head to lick the spinach juice.

When it had licked up about half, Xiaqing reminded it, "You can’t drink it all, or your body won’t be able to handle it. Leave the rest for the broken leg wolf."

The Brain Domain Evolution Wolf looked up and stared at Xiaqing, droplets of green spinach juice clinging to the fur around its mouth. It actually looked a little cute.

Xiaqing smiled, pointing at the spinach juice in the bowl, then at the broken leg wolf in the sheep pen. "It’s medicine. Let it have a few sips."

The Brain Domain Evolution Wolf actually seemed to understand Xiaqing’s meaning. It let out a low whine, and the broken leg wolf in the sheep pen obediently came out to lick the spinach juice.

Xiaqing was once again certain of this creature’s intelligence; it was no less clever than the Head Wolf. No wonder the Head Wolf valued it so highly.

After the two wolves licked the spinach juice clean, Xiaqing washed the bowl and refilled it with spring water. Just as she was about to head back to the fields to continue her work, she heard a splashing sound from the bucket.

Her Spring Water Fish were recovering!

Xiaqing ran to the side of the bucket and saw that the four edible Spring Water Fish were no longer belly-up, but they hadn’t yet recovered their chomping, biting vigor.

She scooped the fish out right away and dripped two drops of spinach juice into their mouths. She even gave some to the one that had been belly-up, a desperate attempt to save it.

Then, she stored the remaining spinach juice and went to the fields to deal with the crushed corn, mung beans, and cotton.

The seedlings in the field were planted sparsely, so even though a patch was crushed, each patch only lost about twenty-some seedlings. The Yellow Light Mung Beans could be replanted, but the corn could not, because Xiaqing was out of corn seeds.

She asked into her walkie-talkie, "Uncle Shi, are you there?"

Xiaqing didn’t contact Qi Fu because he had a head injury and needed to rest, so he was rarely online now. Although she had never heard Shi Du mention what his parents did before the Natural Disasters, Xiaqing had overheard Shi Zhong and Qi Fu chatting on the Lord channel and discovered that he also knew a thing or two about farming.

The inspection team, while chatting as they passed by, had also mentioned that the fields in the Tenth Territory were very well-planted. That was why Xiaqing was consulting Shi Zhong. As for the matter of the Shi family’s parents trying to set Xiaqing up with their son, that Chapter had closed after Hu Zifeng publicly began "pursuing" Xiaqing.

Shi Zhong’s honest, good-natured voice quickly came through the walkie-talkie. "I’m here."

"Uncle Shi, a large patch of my corn seedlings was crushed to death by an Evolutionary Bird. Can I replant the empty plot with mung beans?"

Shi Zhong replied, "You can, but corn grows tall. Don’t plant the mung beans too close to the corn, or they won’t get enough sunlight and won’t grow well."

After thanking him, Xiaqing crouched by the cornfield, considering how close was too close. Corn could grow over two meters tall. If she didn’t want the mung bean seedlings to be shaded by the corn, she could only plant two in the very center.

Planting only two was as good as planting none at all. Xiaqing decided not to waste the mung bean seeds and turned her attention to the cotton.

Xiaqing wasn’t too heartbroken about the two patches of corn and mung bean seedlings—not yet calf-high—that had been crushed, but seeing the patch of cotton plants, laden with bolls and flowers, snapped in two... that truly pained her.

In another half month, the cotton bolls at the bottom of the plants would have burst open, ready for harvest. The Evolutionary Bird’s crash had basically cost her a cotton cushion.

After the Natural Disasters and the great evolution of Blue Star’s creatures, Blue Star’s climate had changed. Besides the Harmful Rain, the changes in spring, summer, and autumn weren’t very pronounced, but winter was a different story.

Before the Natural Disasters, the average winter temperature (December to February) at Hui San Base was around six degrees Celsius, and cold-resistant vegetables could grow in the fields.

But after the Natural Disasters, the average winter temperature dropped by ten degrees to minus six degrees Celsius, and on the coldest days, it could reach minus twenty. The cold, dampness, and strong winds made winter the most difficult season for humans to endure.

Territories, unlike the Safe Zone, didn’t have tall walls to block the wind. So for Xiaqing, this winter would surely be colder than previous years. She urgently needed to replenish her warm clothing, which was why she was cultivating cotton so meticulously.

Because cotton meant quilts and padded clothes, and quilts and padded clothes meant warmth.

What pained Xiaqing the most was that two of the snapped cotton plants were Green Light ones. Of the more than eight thousand two hundred cotton plants in her two-mu field, she now had just over seven thousand four hundred left, but only forty-three of them were Green Light.

Although she didn’t plan on eating cottonseed oil, Green Light cotton plants had a lower chance of undergoing Qiang Evolution during the Harmful Rain, so their cultivation risk was naturally lower than that of Yellow Light plants.

Therefore, Xiaqing planned to save all forty-odd Green Light cotton plants for seed. For the past few months, she had been caring for them as if they were precious treasures, the apples of her eye.

That damn bird! It had crushed two of them in one fell swoop, and its blood had contaminated a large patch of soil!

By the time she finished dealing with the crop seedlings crushed by the Evolutionary Bird inside the greenhouse, it was getting late. The chickens and geese in the pen had already gone into their coop.

Xiaqing picked some vegetables for dinner and, passing by the chicken run, carried the coop home. With eight birds suddenly dead, Xiaqing noticed the coop felt distinctly lighter. Not only was it lighter, but the surviving chicks and goslings inside, including the little black-feathered cockerel, no longer had the energy to chirp and squawk.
