Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Victory

Stepping on shattered glass and covered in bird blood, Xiaqing calmly replied, "I’m not injured. I don’t need backup. How about you guys?"

Hu Zifeng’s voice was tinged with a smile. "No one’s hurt. We’ve already started cleaning up the battlefield."

No one being hurt was the best possible news.

"Roger that."

Xiaqing looked at the shattered glass under her feet, at the trussed-up Sheep Leader lying in a pool of glass and bird blood, and at the two wolves in the corner, untouched by the gore. She smiled. "Leader, wolves, we won."

On the Lord’s walkie-talkie channel, Kuang Qingwei asked cautiously, "Captain Tan, have all the raptors that attacked No. 6 Territory been killed? Do we need to dispose of the corpses ourselves?"

Tan Junjie replied, "You can handle it yourself, or you can have the patrol team handle it."

Kuang Qingwei answered immediately, "Please have the patrol team handle it."

Yuan Yan chimed in, "Please have the patrol team help dispose of the Evolutionary Bird corpses in Territory No.5."

Zhao Ze’s voice, still thick with tears, added, "Territory No. 4 as well."

The ferocious and cruel Evolved Fierce Birds were all Red Light Animals. Many of them were also carrion-eaters, carrying all sorts of bacteria, making them very difficult to handle. So, even though sealing the bird corpses and sending them to the Safe Zone could be exchanged for points, the Lords didn’t have the guts to do it themselves.

Shi Zhong asked, "Sister-in-law, how is Qi Fu doing?"

Yuan Yan replied, "He was in the basement the whole time, so he’s fine. How are things on your end, Brother Shi?"

Shi Zhong replied, "Not much damage. If you need any help, sister-in-law, just say the word."

The voice of Hu Zi, a Strength Evolver from the patrol team, came through the walkie-talkie. "Sister Qing, two Evolutionary Birds shot down by the Third Territory landed on the path between the Second and Third Territories. Are you cleaning them up yourself, or should the patrol team do it?"

Xiaqing fought back a wave of dizziness and nausea and pressed the talk button. "Could you please clean them up? Thanks."

’I still have plenty of Evolutionary Bird corpses in my own territory.’

Tang Huai asked, "Xiaqing, I heard intense gunfire from your territory. Did you hire people to help guard it again?"

’Is my business any of your business?’

Xiaqing replied icily, "It seems the ultrasound didn’t affect you much."

Tang Huai, who was in fact dizzy, nauseous, and suffering from a splitting headache...

Tang Zhengpo pressed the talk button. "Xiaqing, my apologies. Tang Huai, guard the Second Territory properly. Do not pry into or inquire about the affairs of other territories again."

"BLEGH—"

In the Second Territory, Tang Huai couldn’t stop himself from retching twice before pressing the button to reply, "Dad, I know. Xiaqing, sorry. I didn’t mean to pry, I just can’t help my good hearing."

The smell of blood and the corpses would soon attract swarms of Evolved Insects and breed an excess of Evolutionary Bacteria. Inside the Third Territory, Xiaqing couldn’t afford to rest. She pushed herself to her feet, ready to clean up the battlefield.

Covered in blood, Xiaqing grabbed the low wall of her attic, climbed onto the roof, and jumped into the backyard. She rolled on the ground, letting the dirt absorb the blood on her body, then returned to the front yard and entered the bathroom. She quickly rinsed off the bloodstains, got her equipment, and sealed the four Evolutionary Bird corpses near her house into the largest-sized sealed bags, then cleaned up the nearby bloodstains.

Then she entered the tool shed, lifted the straw mat, and hauled the chicken and goose coops up from the cellar.

Some of the chickens and geese were no longer moving, but at least they weren’t completely wiped out. Xiaqing quickly picked out the motionless poultry and placed them in a back basket, then added spring water for the ones still standing.

As she added the water, she was pecked by a small, black-feathered rooster, but Xiaqing had no time to deal with it. She quickly returned to the attic with a large bucket of water, a straw mat, and a rainproof cloth. First, she used the bucket to wash the bloodstains off the roof, then used the rainproof cloth to tightly cover the shattered window. Only then did she rescue the Sheep Leader from the blood and broken glass, place him on the straw mat, and remove the Protective Masks from the two wolves and the sheep.

"Baa~" The bound Sheep Leader was clearly in distress, its bleat growing weak.

Xiaqing soothed the Sheep Leader. "Wait here for a bit, Leader. I’ll carry the wolves downstairs first, then I’ll take you for a wash."

After moving the two wolves to the tatami mat downstairs, Xiaqing ran back up to the attic. She rolled the blood-soaked Sheep Leader in the straw mat, carried him straight into the bathroom, and only then untied his ropes. She used the shower head to rinse the blood from his body. The Sheep Leader lay on the floor, too weak to even stand.

"You were amazing today, Leader. When you sensed danger, you even knew to carry the two wolves over to me." Xiaqing supported the Sheep Leader’s head, praising him as she washed the blood off his body. "That ultrasound attack was so intense, but you held back from hurting me and only banged your head on the ground."

"It’s fine that you cracked the floor, and it’s fine that you broke your Protective Mask. But this wound on your face is a problem. It needs to be treated immediately." After rinsing the Sheep Leader clean, Xiaqing lifted him up to shake the water from his wool, then wrapped him in an absorbent dry straw mat and carried him back to the living room.

Taking out the special hemostatic powder she had just traded for from Territory Land No. 7, Xiaqing covered the Sheep Leader’s wound completely before securing it with a bandage. She then brought over a basin of spring water and placed it beside him. "I’m going to clean up the territory first, then I’ll come back and make you something delicious."

Xiaqing turned and saw the Brain Domain Evolution Wolf watching her calmly. She brought another basin of water and placed it by the two injured wolves’ heads, and while she was at it, washed the filth from around their mouths. "I know you two are suffering too. Your anesthetic is about to wear off. Drink some water when you can move later. I’ve got to get busy."

Xiaqing didn’t have time to clean the attic; she first headed out of the village to meet up with Hu Zifeng’s team.

Hu Zifeng’s team didn’t know Xiaqing was an Auditory Evolver, so they weren’t aware that the ultrasound attack had affected her as well.

Seeing Xiaqing appear in her Protective Mask, Chen Cheng, an Olfactory Evolver, waved excitedly at her. "We killed thirty-four Evolutionary Birds! Sister Qing got seven of them, just one less than Brother Jian! Awesome!"

Guan Tong added, "Plus the two that landed between the Second and Third Territories."

"I just had the advantage of a better weapon. Captain Hu got one of those two." It wasn’t that Xiaqing’s marksmanship was better than the rest of Hu Zifeng’s team, but that her sniper rifle was better than their guns and had a longer range.

Xiaqing asked about the situation in the No. 1 Territory. "How is the No. 1 Territory?"

Hu Zifeng replied, "A few people have minor injuries, but no major losses."

Hearing that people in the No. 1 Territory were injured, Xiaqing urged Hu Zifeng’s team to hurry back. Carrying a few sealed bags with bird corpses, Xiaqing escorted them to the edge of the No. 1 Territory’s Buffer Forest, handed the corpses to Guan Tong, and then returned to inspect the damage her own territory had sustained in the Evolutionary Bird attack.

The marksmanship and equipment of Hu Zifeng’s team were excellent. They had all laid in ambush near the farmland, and the Evolutionary Birds attacking the Third Territory were all shot before they could reach the ground, failing to damage any of the facilities within the territory.

Only three of them had crashed down, smashing more than twenty supports of a greenhouse and crushing a patch of corn seedlings, a patch of mung bean seedlings, and a patch of cotton plants.

The damage to the farmland was less than Xiaqing had expected.
