Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Well Water Does Not Interfere With River Water

This time, Xiaqing heard Zhang San’s voice. He must have opened his airtight protective suit; otherwise, his voice wouldn’t have been so clear:

"If anyone from No. 9 Territory dares to violate the law by releasing or discharging any prohibited hazardous chemicals, two hours from now, No. 9 Territory will belong to the Super Evolution Fungus."

Li Si immediately seized on Zhang San’s words. "Did you hear that? Zhang San has Super Evolution Fungus—that’s also a Level 1 hazardous chemical! I want to request a search warrant for Territory Land No. 7. Right now! Immediately!"

Xiaqing heard Zhang San laugh. "Common staphylococcus isn’t a prohibited item. Are you doubting that I can’t cultivate Super Evolution Fungus from common staph in two hours? How about it? I can give you a demonstration right here."

It was quiet inside for about ten seconds before Li Si reminded Zhang San, "Brother San, don’t forget, using bacteria to attack humans is a violation of the Natural Disaster Relief Emergency Plan."

"Oh, so you do remember the emergency plan?" Zhang San’s voice was full of indifference. "So what if it’s illegal? After I take care of you lot, it’ll be the perfect time for me to relocate. I’ve grown tired of this place anyway."

Huh?

Huh?

Ah!

Hearing that, Xiaqing almost jumped. ’How could my idol leave? If he’s gone, who will I fleece? No, I mean, who will I deliver delicious supplies to?’

Xiaqing didn’t jump, but Tang Huai did. "Fuck!"

"Brother Huai, what’s wrong? Did a fight break out in there?" Kuang Qingwei demanded.

"No, my leg just fell asleep." Tang Huai shook out his leg and whispered, "They found hundreds of pounds of prohibited items in No. 9 Territory."

Sev... several hundred pounds? All the Lords were dumbfounded.

When Captain Tan’s team emerged, shouldering, carrying, and hauling a pile of sealed bags and boxes, the crowd retreated several steps in unison.

After all, that was hundreds of pounds of poison, enough to shut someone up for good. Who would dare get closer? It’d be suicide.

Though no one dared to get close, questions still had to be asked.

"Captain Tan, what’s the plan for all this poison?"

"Are they going to kick the people from No. 9 Territory out?"

"Just confiscating the stuff won’t be enough. They’ll just make more."

"..."

Tan Junjie replied in a loud voice, "The Territory Management Department will announce a decision on the punishment as soon as possible. Please return to your own territories."

"Alright, we’re heading back now! Thanks for your hard work, everyone! Thank you, Brother San!" Zhao Ze shouted back, waving his hand.

Zhang San gave a small wave and followed Tan Junjie and his team away. He had already sealed up his airtight protective suit, so although everyone saw the gesture, they still couldn’t see his face, which was a great pity.

With the show over, the crowd dispersed, each going their separate way.

At the signpost for the Third Territory, Tang Huai called out to Xiaqing, who was about to enter her land, and Da Jiang, who was heading west. "You two, wait up. What’s your plan for No. 9 Territory?"

Da Jiang retorted, "What do you mean, ’what’s my plan’?"

Tang Huai lowered his voice. "No. 9 Territory is a ticking time bomb. If we don’t use this opportunity to drive them out, who knows what kind of trouble they’ll cause later."

"If they’re going to blow someone up, it’ll be your Second Territory or the Twelfth Territory. It’s not my concern." Da Jiang waved to Xiaqing and headed back to the No.1 Territory.

Tang Huai cursed under his breath and stopped Xiaqing. "Of all the territories here, you’ve benefited the most from your connection to Brother San. I just heard him say that if No. 9 Territory keeps causing trouble, he’ll wipe them out and leave. Do you want him to leave?"

Xiaqing’s expression soured. "If you can’t speak properly, then keep your mouth shut. What do you mean I’ve ’benefited from Brother San’? Every one of my dealings with Brother San has been a mutually agreed-upon trade of supplies!"

"Right, right, you’re the eloquent one. You win." Tang Huai said dismissively, then pressed, "Just answer the question. Do you want Brother San to leave or not?"

"That’s not my business." Xiaqing had been digging her cave all morning and was starving. She turned to head back.

Tang Huai chased after her. "You probably don’t know this, but Li Si is a member of the Fiery Fire Team. Five years ago, the Fiery Fire Team was the one that drove the Green Dragon Team out of Base No. 1. They’ve got bad blood. You should tell Hu Zifeng..."

Not wanting to listen, Xiaqing cut him off with a casual question, "And the Su Feng Team and the Fiery Fire Team?"

Tang Huai answered, "They mind their own business."

"Then I’m the same way with No. 9 Territory—we mind our own business." Xiaqing refused to get involved in conflicts between other territories. "The Territory Management Department will handle No. 9 Territory. It’s not my place, and I don’t have the authority."

Tang Heng grabbed Tang Huai, who looked ready to explode, and gave Xiaqing an apologetic smile. "Sister Qing, please go on ahead."

After Xiaqing passed through the Third Territory’s Wild Grass Wall, she heard Tang Huai, already on his way back to the Second Territory, muttering, "What does Hu Zifeng see in a hot-tempered woman like her?"

Tang Heng placated him quietly, "She’s just a Strength Evolver with no powerful backing, and her territory isn’t even adjacent to No. 9’s. Of course she doesn’t want to get involved. Just let it go, bro. If Dad hears you, you’re going to get an earful again."

"How would he know unless you tattle?" Tang Huai snorted. "Let’s go home to eat. And we can tell Dad about what happened with No. 9 Territory. Damn it, both of our territories border No. 9. We have the worst fucking luck. Hundreds of pounds of poison... You really believe it was for ’self-defense’?"

Tang Heng’s voice was barely a whisper. "The Fiery Fire Team tried to recruit Zhang San several times and failed. They’re probably trying to play hardball now."

Once she heard the two brothers’ voices fade into the distance, Xiaqing ruffled the wool of the Sheep Leader, who was waiting for her. "Come on, let’s go home and eat."

When she got home, Xiaqing found an uninjured wolf in her sheep pen.

It stood protectively in front of the two injured wolves. Behind it, the Brain Domain Evolution Wolf with the injured spine was also lifting its head to look out. It held its head higher than it had yesterday, and there was more life in its eyes.

The healing ability of an Evolutionary Wolf was astounding. At this rate, her two esteemed guests would probably be leaving in another ten days or so.

’Honestly, Xiaqing wished they would stay a few days longer. After all, the rent the Wolf Group paid was more than generous. Hopefully the Head Wolf would bring a live rabbit tomorrow morning.’

Xiaqing took off her Protective Suit and washed her hands meticulously before she started making lunch. She had used a lot of energy digging the cave today, so of course, she had to eat well.

Mixed-grain noodles were on the menu.

Even by the time Xiaqing had cooked her noodles and sat down to eat, not a single person had spoken on the Lord channel. Everyone was clearly treading carefully around Li Si, who was still in the chat, afraid that one harsh word might set her off.

After the evening weather forecast and farming knowledge broadcast, a time that was usually the liveliest on the Lord channel, there was still only silence. Everyone was waiting for the Territory Management Department to release its verdict on No. 9 Territory.

「Two days later」

Zhong Tao and Zheng Kui came by to deliver worm castings and brought news of the latest developments. "The Fiery Fire Team sent people to our Safe Zone; they went straight to Tang Zhengrong’s office. My guess is this will all end with a fine and the loss of some privileges. They can’t possibly expel them. After all, they’re legitimate Lords."

Xiaqing nodded. She had spent the last two days poring over the Lord Law and had predicted as much. For someone like Li Si, who wasn’t lacking for money, a punishment like this was a mere slap on the wrist. It wouldn’t serve as a warning at all.

’Still,’ Xiaqing thought, ’after going to all this trouble and making such a big scene, the petty Zhang San would never let Li Si off so easily.’
