Farming After the End of the World
Chapter 113: Super Sensory Perception Evolution
Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Super Sensory Perception Evolution
Xiaqing had long since committed this number to memory.
This number was the very reason Xiaqing had put both SIM cards into an old phone and brought it back to the Safe Zone.
She took a deep breath, tapped the message, and opened it with a solemn expression:
No need. Xu Pin’s hidden Evolutionary Ability is likely Super Sensory Perception Evolution. He can sense the goodwill or malice of humans or large animals within a radius of at least one hundred meters.
Xiaqing immediately replied with the two words, "Thank you," then deleted the message completely.
The words "No need" were obviously a reply to her query about sending grain and vegetables. The part about Xu Pin was the crucial piece of information.
This was the first time Xiaqing had ever heard of the Super Sensory Perception Evolution ability, but from the message’s content, she knew it was incredibly powerful.
The person who sent the message knew she had a grudge against the Su Feng Team, and possibly even knew about her vendetta against Tang Zhengsu. Not many people knew that her father had been thrown out by Tang Zhengsu to fend off Evolutionary Animals—or rather, not many people cared.
This person, though not entirely certain, had still told her about Xu Pin’s hidden Evolutionary Ability. They clearly didn’t want her to recklessly approach Tang Zhengsu and be detected by Xu Pin.
After her father’s death, the only time Xiaqing had been close to Tang Zhengsu inside the Safe Zone was when she went to the mission hall to collect the compensation for the families of the fallen. Xu Pin hadn’t arrived at Hui San Base or joined the Su Feng Team back then.
Since then, she had been steadily building her strength and had avoided appearing before Tang Zhengsu. Otherwise, her burning desire to tear Tang Zhengsu limb from limb would have certainly been detected by Xu Pin.
No wonder Tang Zhengsu valued Xu Pin so highly and kept him by his side just for a Level 6 Endurance Evolution. It turned out Xu Pin was a human-shaped danger alarm.
If Xu Pin’s hidden ability were made public, its warning effect would be greatly diminished, so very few people could possibly know about it. As Xiaqing walked back, she mulled over the contents of the two messages, trying to deduce the informant’s identity and purpose.
The phone number this person used had never appeared in the mission hall’s records. He knew the Su Feng Team’s core secrets, understood her very well, and so far, showed no malice toward her but clearly disliked the Su Feng Team...
’It’s very likely he had some connection to my family before the Natural Disaster, or maybe he’s a friend my father made while doing missions at Hui San Base. Who could it be?’
Inside the armored vehicle, Xie Yu saw Xiaqing’s serious expression, pulled his hat down lower, and said, "Back to the team."
The team member driving asked, puzzled, "There’s no one around now. Brother Xie, why aren’t you going over?"
"She’s thinking about something. It wouldn’t be right for me to interrupt." Xie Yu was here to thank her, not to cause trouble. Besides, Yang Jin had sent back some crucial information, and he needed to verify its authenticity as soon as possible.
As the vehicle drove past, Xiaqing merely gave it a calm glance before continuing on her way.
"Here she comes."
"Still alone. No guards with her. She’s got some nerve."
"Get the canvas bag ready."
"She’s a Lord now, so we can’t kill her. Just grab her stuff and run."
Hearing the voices from the dark alleyway ahead, Xiaqing subtly rotated her wrists and ankles. ’Bring it on. I’ve been wanting to settle the score with you guys and rack up some points for seeds anyway.’
Xiaqing reached the mouth of the alley. A black cloth bag whistled down toward her head. She raised a hand, grabbed the canvas, and with a vicious tug, lashed out with a kick.
"BANG!"
"Oof..."
"Hiss..."
After taking down two of them, Xiaqing charged directly into the dark alley and, in just a few moves, had taken down all ten of them. Zhao Jie and the helpers he’d called were all dumbfounded. ’Did Xiaqing spend the last six months farming or in special training? How did she get so strong?’
Xiaqing planted her foot on Zhao Jie’s neck and asked coldly, "Do you want to live, or do you want to die?"
Zhao Jie’s face turned beet red, but he remained defiant. "Don’t try to scare me! You dare lay a finger on me? Just try it!"
"You’re right, I don’t dare." Xiaqing lifted her foot and stomped down, breaking Zhao Jie’s right arm. Just as he was about to scream in agony, she pinned his mouth with her foot. Then, she threw her dagger, taking down a scumbag who was trying to escape. Her voice was ice-cold. "My patience is limited. I’ll ask one last time: do you want to live, or do you want to die?"
Zhao Jie’s underling, Li Dong, crawled forward, begging for mercy. "Ma’am, please spare us this time! We were blind..."
Xiaqing stated her price. "Two hundred points per person."
Li Dong’s voice shot up an octave. "Two hundred? Ma’am, even if you killed us, we wouldn’t have..."
A cold, heavy black blade pressed against Li Dong’s neck, and he immediately changed his tune. "We do, I do..."
Xiaqing took out a card reader she had prepared in advance and had Zhao Jie’s men swipe their cards one by one, letting them go after they paid. The second to last was Old Niu, the one she had kicked hard into the wall.
As Old Niu limped forward and reluctantly took out his card, Xiaqing said coldly, "Yours is three hundred."
Old Niu’s temper flared. "On what grounds?!"
"Because you’re disgustingly ugly."
Old Niu ground his teeth. "I’m not!"
Xiaqing snatched his card, saw it only had 230 points, swiped the full amount, and kicked him away. Then she stepped on Zhao Jie, who was trying to crawl away unnoticed. "You, two thousand."
Zhao Jie, despite his broken arm, tried to muster the intimidating air of an alley boss to threaten Xiaqing. "Leave some room for negotiation so we can meet again on better terms. I advise you not to push things too far."
Xiaqing hadn’t taught them a lesson before because Zhao Jie had been sucking up to a patrol officer in this area. But now that Xiaqing was no longer living in the Safe Zone, she couldn’t give a damn. The moment she applied pressure with her foot on Zhao Jie’s left arm, he immediately changed his tune. "I’ll pay, I’ll pay."
With these 3,830 points, she could buy even more things tomorrow. In high spirits, Xiaqing returned to the hotel. After finalizing the fertilizer trade volume for the next few months with Sun Zhe, she went back to her room.
She held her phone, hesitating for a long time, but ultimately decided not to dial that familiar yet unknown number.
’This is a hotel inside the Safe Zone. I’m likely under surveillance by someone. It’s better not to cause trouble for the sender.’
Xiaqing sighed. She put down her phone and was about to go wash up when she heard it vibrate.
She immediately grabbed the phone. Seeing it was a call from Hu Zifeng, she answered at once.
Hu Zifeng anxiously explained the situation. "The Sheep Leader is insisting on leaving the territory to find you! It won’t eat anything we give it and it’s throwing a tantrum. We can barely control it. You have to talk some sense into it!"
The Sheep Leader had Strength evolution and was incredibly stubborn. If it really started acting up, Hu Zifeng’s team was afraid of hurting it by restraining it with force, which was why they called Xiaqing.
"Brother Feng, put me on speaker so the Sheep Leader can hear my voice." Hearing the Sheep Leader’s heavy breathing, Xiaqing’s heart ached. She called out softly, "Leader, I’m here. Can you hear me?"
"BAA—"
The Sheep Leader heard Xiaqing’s voice and began searching for her. Hu Zifeng held the phone in front of the Sheep Leader. "Leader, here, Xia—"
Before Hu Zifeng could finish, chaos erupted on the other end. Needless to say, the Sheep Leader must have charged forward, and Hu Zifeng had dodged, taking the phone with him.
