Finding the gap at the car lock position, she slipped in sideways and pried it open, and with a snap, the door opened itself.

Following closely behind her, Wei Shangquan witnessed her seamless action and nearly whistled: "Yingying, you are amazing."

Xie Wanying turned her head and noticed the droplets on Student Wei’s head, momentarily confusing them with rainwater or sweat, and said: "Find a place to rest."

Wei Shangquan waved his hand; he had just arrived, and going to rest would certainly be laughable.

"Xie Wanying, I can’t pull my leg out." Seeing the door open brought hope, Zhang Wei spoke even more urgently.

"Don’t move, I’ll handle it." Xie Wanying quickly instructed the injured not to move carelessly.

When injured, it’s crucial to quietly wait for rescue personnel to assess before safely moving you; moving recklessly can cause secondary injuries.

After Xie Wanying placed her hand on Zhang Wei’s shoulder, Zhang Wei dared not move.

With the injured comforted, Xie Wanying quickly used her eyes to look for an opening; soon, with her crowbar in hand, she located the position, inserting it at the jammed point between the deformed car hood and the passenger seat, applying force again.

Bam, bam, two hits.

After the board pressing against her leg loosened, Zhang Wei, forgetting her desk mate’s instructions and in a rush to pull her leg out, released a groan from her mouth.

Upon hearing the sound, Xie Wanying immediately pressed her thigh root, preventing movement.

Surviving the ordeal, Zhang Wei turned her face, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"It’s alright, it’s alright." Xie Wanying reassured her.

Unexpectedly, hearing these words made Zhang Wei cry even harder; her hands clutched onto Xie Wanying’s shoulders, weeping like a child.

Next to them, Student Wei was startled by the scene: What happened?

"Xie Wanying, I genuinely thought I was going to die." Zhang Wei cried, holding onto her unwilling to let go, her tears soon soaking most of her clothing.

Injured accident victims experience psychological trauma, something Xie Wanying, as a doctor, understands and empathetically acknowledges. She quietly stood there for a moment without pushing the other away, allowing her to lean and vent. Of course, this couldn’t last too long because this was dangerous ground, and they had to evacuate.

"Let’s carry you out, don’t move yourself." Xie Wanying once again reminded the injured of the important points.

Zhang Wei wiped her face with the back of her hand, nodded, and repeatedly said: "Thank you, thank you."

The gratitude expressed at this moment was undoubtedly heartfelt.

"No need for thanks." Xie Wanying replied, "Have you forgotten I’m a doctor? Doctors are here to save lives."

Upon hearing her words, Zhang Wei raised her swollen, teary eyes, looking at her through her blurry vision.

Xie Wanying could read the expression in her eyes, which conveyed: Are you truly devoted to being a doctor?

To someone like Zhang Wei, skilled in calculations, the profession of a doctor isn’t appealing due to its demanding nature. Hence, it wasn’t contempt for her being a doctor but more of a lack of understanding of why she would choose such a thankless, laborious work. This indicated that deep down, Zhang Wei recognized Xie Wanying’s abilities, believing she could pursue other easier, lucrative careers instead.

Most who pursue medicine do so out of genuine interest in the field. Thus, there’s little concern over what others think. One must do what makes them happy.

It’s essential to know that life is indeed short.

Similarly, when it comes to marriage at least, choose someone you love, avoiding risking your happiness for spite.
