Sitting with Feimei in his arms, Kian closed his eyes.

A cold, blue panel snapped open in front of Kian’s eyes, cutting through the warm haze of Feimei’s lips.

The panel wasn’t just a notification. It expanded like a sheet of ice across his vision, every line neat and glowing. Kian focused, and the numbers locked into place.

Kian’s gaze lingered on the line for Twin Heart. The word "Grey" sat where "Black" used to be, dull and new.

He dismissed the panel with a blink. Feimei was still close, her red eyes half-lidded and her body still draped over his.

Her fingers traced lazy circles on the back of his neck, and the scent of her—copper and warm silk—pulled him right back into the room.

Whatever the Grey rank unlocked, it could wait until Feimei was done with him.

"Want another kiss?" she asked, her voice soft and rough at the edges.

"Oh I do," Kian said. He slid a hand up her back, fingers finding the base of her skull and tangling in her hair. "I want to do a lot more, but let’s first do the important things."

Feimei nodded and pulled away. "Come, let’s go check the island once more."

She didn’t need the map anymore. The island lay inside her now, a second pulse behind her ribs.

She closed her eyes, and the room folded sideways with a soft pop, the walls peeling back into black sand and open sky.

Kian landed on his feet beside her, the fatty left behind in the courtyard house.

The hut waited below, its door already swinging open on its own.

Feimei walked first now, confident, and Kian followed close enough to catch her just in case the place turned on them.

The grass bent away from her bare feet.

The black sand had not touched her, and the island’s air tasted like iron and burnt sugar.

Inside the hut, the round water tank had not changed.

But Feimei went upto it and gave it a small knock.

The wooden lid split down the middle, and the crack leaked a faint crimson glow.

Feimei stopped in front of it and pressed her palm to the wood. The tank’s surface shifted, the lid folding aside like petals, and a pool of thick, dark blood glimmered below.

It smelled sweet.

Kian stepped to the edge and looked down. A system panel snapped open.

[Found pure Blood Demon original bloodline source. Do you want to absorb it to become a pure blood demon?]

He shook his head firmly.

He didn’t need it to reach supreme. And he could borrow Feimei’s abilities anyway.

The prompt faded. And for Kian, it also proved that there was no trap here. No trick. This pool was meant for her.

A bloodline gift.

He turned to Feimei and smiled. "It’s all yours. Get in."

She held his eyes for a beat, then let her robe slide from her shoulders and pool at her feet.

Kian looked at her admiringly.

She smiled.

The crimson light from the tank painted her skin in shifting shades of rose. Feimei stepped over the rim and lowered herself into the blood. The liquid closed around her waist, then her chest, and she gasped as it began to burn.

"Kian, baby, it will take a few hours. You can walk around the island if you want, or go back."

"How do I come back here?"

"When I was sucking your blood, I left some of my own blood in you. It’s a ticket to enter here. You can enter with your thoughts, just like I can. But you have to be a meter or so away from me, or the place I entered the map from."

"Okay, don’t waste the opportunity."

"I know, my child. Go do your own thing."

Kian nodded once, stepped back from the pool, and let Feimei’s beautiful sight sink into him.

He closed his eyes, thought of the courtyard house, and the black sand dropped away.

Cold floorboards met his feet, and the fatty stood exactly where he’d left it, blank-faced and waiting.

Kian ignored it, crossed to his room, and shut the door.

The pouch of spirit stones sat on the bed, heavy and untouched.

He poured the contents across the blanket. Low-grade stones clattered in a pale heap, and a smaller scatter of mid-grade stones shone with a deeper, bluish light.

He sat down. Got ready.

Kian picked up two of the pales ones first. He pressed them between his palms and pulled. Twin Heart answered differently now.

The two stones melted into a soft grey thread that braided itself into one. A mid-grade stone dropped into his open hand.

He did it again on the mid grade ones. He could do that even with Black level Twin Hearts, now, it was even easier.

Two mid-grade stones became a high-grade stone in under a breath. The high-grade stone glowed, sharp and dense, humming with enough Qi to make the air tremble.

Kian rolled it across his knuckles and smiled. The old limit had been high-grade. He had never been able to push past it before. Now, what if he could fuse two high grades?

Kian had enough of waiting. He pressed them together and focused. Twin Heart resisted for half a second, then snapped taut. The two gold lights collapsed into a single point, flared white-hot between his fingers, and cooled into a stone the color of pale honey.

He almost felt his body screaming to absorb it right away!

A peak-grade spirit stone.

Its edges threw tiny rainbows across the wall.

He held it up.

The Qi inside felt almost liquid, dense enough to break his teeth if he bit down. Kian’s grin spread wide.

Who knew how many Qi Sparks he would get after he absorbs these?

This was a tool that could change everything. He reached for two more high-grade stones and fused them into a second peak-grade stone. Then, he tried to fuse two peaks together.

It...

Failed.

Kian let the two peak-grade stones fall back to the blanket. That was fine. Even the old Twin Heart had limits, and now he had already pushed past the one he thought was absolute.

Two peak-grade stones in his hands were still a fortune most disciples would never see in ten lifetimes.

Kian was sure their value would be ginormous in the market compared to low grades.

He picked one peak stone again and settled cross-legged on the bed.

’Let’s meditate.’

The moment he closed his eyes and pulled, the stone didn’t resist. It opened like a dam breaking. Qi slammed into his meridians, hot and blinding, and his Qi Sparks count jumped before he could even register the first breath of the process.

99812. 99890. 99960. 100000.

’Too fast!’

The breakthrough hit him like a fist to the spine. His dantian flexed, then swelled, the walls standing in his cultivation path cracking outward in one violent, silent snap.

Kian’s eyes flew open. The room tilted, then steadied. He looked down at the stone in his palm. It still glowed, full and warm, not even a fraction of its light dimmed.

He had broken through, just like that!

"All that for a single heartbeat," he whispered, and the wild grin on his face refused to leave.

Were peak stones this good?

He closed his eyes again and pulled on the stone before the room could settle. The peak-grade stone didn’t roar this time. It bled Qi in a long, steady current, hot enough to make his teeth ache.

His dantian drank it down and kept drinking.

The count climbed in clean leaps. 102,000. 103,400. 104,800. The stone dimmed by fractions, its honey-colored light pulsing with each pull until it crumbled into pale dust between his fingers.

By the time it was gone, he had pulled another 5,900 Qi Sparks into his core.

When Kian opened his eyes, the air around him crackled.

A blue screen hung in the dark, waiting.

Kian exhaled and did the math behind closed eyes. A low-grade spirit stone had been barely a trickle, enough to nudge a Qi Spark or two in the early days. A mid-grade stone had given him something like thirty. A high-grade stone, was it ninety?

But this pale honey thing in his palm had just dumped over six thousand Sparks into his dantian in one sitting.

Low, mid, high—all of it started to feel like leftover coins compared to a treasure vault. One peak-grade stone was worth more than entire pouches of the stones he used to hoard.

He opened his eyes and stared at the pale dust smeared across his fingers.

Kian laughed, short and sharp, the sound swallowed by the quiet room.

No wonder cultivators killed for resources. This kind of stone didn’t build a foundation—it detonated one!

His gaze slid to the second peak-grade stone. The excitement curled through him like a living thing, tightening his throat and settling warm in his stomach.

Time to transform all his low grade stones to peaks!

But before that, he wanted to test his new cultivation growth benefits.
