Family Cultivation: I Become a Mirror
Chapter 683 498: The Fight
When Chen Yan spoke these words, his mind was filled with possible actions that the boy in front of him might take, but believing he had said nothing wrong and with a higher cultivation level, he slightly bowed his head, feigning humility.
'I'm not breaking any rules? What can you do about it?'
But as he waited for a reply that never came, his gaze quickly settled on Li Zhouwei's face, his black pupils shifting towards the narrow corners of his eyes, a dark, ponderous hue emerging, not bowing or paying homage, even carrying a sense of looking down from a high position.
As soon as he peered, his eyes directly met those of the princely heir in front of him, causing an emptiness in his heart. It was as if his malicious pride was seen through completely, and he thought to himself:
"Damn it."
In a blink, Li Zhouwei suddenly stepped forward, and Chen Yan felt a tightness in his throat as a pair of hands, quick as lightning, abruptly clasped onto his neck from below.
"You!"
He never expected Li Zhouwei to suddenly lash out, attacking like a ferocious beast with overwhelming force, unbalancing him and pushing him to the ground with a thud.
"Bang!"
Chen Yan's head violently struck the stone floor, seeing stars from the impact. Had it not been for his Fetal Breathing Level Four cultivation, he surely would have lost consciousness from such a blow.
Rage surged in his chest, reaching his throat, his hands clawing at the air as various spells came to mind, barely containing his shock and anger, only to find the other party already straddling him, pressing down on his chest, pinning his hands to either side, leaving him unable to form any spells.
Chen Yan, unable to breathe and with his spellcasting posture controlled, panicked. However, he was no pushover and quickly tried to pry the other's hands away.
"His cultivation is far lower than mine. If I invoke my mana, I can immediately subdue him!"
No sooner had this thought arisen than Li Zhouwei decisively released his grip, freeing his hands to grab the inkstone from the desk and smash it onto Chen Yan's head. The black ink spread, darkening his vision and his eyebrows furrowed in anger.
"To hell with this."
The blow caused his hands to loosen, and although Chen Yan was at Fetal Breathing Level Four, the initial daze quickly faded, and the suppressed scorn and fury were unleashed. He grasped Li Zhouwei's clothes, intent on pulling him up.
Chen Yan was no ordinary child; with the Chen Family's centuries of swordsmanship and techniques, his abilities at Fetal Breathing Level were not inferior, and his hand already began to glow with a blue light.
"Clang."
But Li Zhouwei surprised him yet again, with a cold clang of iron, as he kicked over the desk and drew a long halberd hidden beneath it.
Chen Yan's blue light halted in his hands as the sharp edge of the halberd, glistening with cold light, pressed directly against his neck. The chilly metal made his hair stand on end, and his roaring hostility quickly died away.
'Damn it… Who keeps a long halberd under a desk! It's not a personal sword! Is he always on guard against assassins or what!'
But there was no time for further thought as a sharp pain in his throat made Chen Yan step back with caution, meeting the dark golden eyes that betrayed no emotion, leaving only the sound of their boots scraping against the ground in the courtyard.
Li Zhouwei, silent, with calm eyes, backed him into a corner before speaking his first words:
"Don't look at me with those eyes."
Chen Yan paused, quickly concealing his facial expression, adeptly masking himself, hiding all the cunning, disdain, and strategic behavior.
Yet he felt Li Zhouwei's grip tightening, the halberd pressed forward with force, and Chen Yan couldn't believe it, his mind racing:
"Has he lost his mind!"
"Thud."
The long halberd was thrust hard into the wooden wall behind him, and a sense of overwhelming fear finally rose within Chen Yan like a landslide. Sweat poured down his face, his legs lost strength, and he collapsed to his knees, bowing his head, only to be forced to look up as the person in front lifted his chin.
He found himself staring into the deep golden eyes, where rings seemed to constrict and relax as if floating in Jinshui, unpredictable as sinking and floating rings.
Li Zhouwei, seeing the fear he hoped for in Chen Yan's eyes, silently let go, allowing Chen Yan to slump in front of him. Chen Yan, barely holding himself up, vaguely saw three people standing quietly in the courtyard.
One in black-gold armor, with broad shoulders, another in fluttering white clothes, with a sword on his back, all silent, simply watching, except for an old man who quickly approached, straightened the desk, and asked:
"What has happened here!"
Blood mingled with the ink dripped from Li Chengwei's forearm as the boy bowed and answered:
"My lord, it was just some roughhousing."
Li Xuanxuan sighed, waved for the White Ape waiting outside the courtyard to come in, and whispered:
"Take him away first and use the Calming Incantation to soothe him; the child has been frightened and likely needs a good rest."
Chen Yan was lifted by the White Ape and quickly carried out of the courtyard. Li Xuanxuan frowned at the mess and casually performed a few spells, using his mana to tidy up the objects before settling down.
Waiting for Li Xuanfeng to be seated, Li Xijun smiled as he sat down to make tea, softly saying:
"That Chen Family boy… is quite interesting."
Li Xuanfeng observed Li Zhouwei closely and casually remarked:
"Somewhat fierce."
Li Xuanxuan remained silent, but Li Xijun, without any sign of worry, laughed and said:
