"He had no Cultivation Technique, it's just said that he borrowed similar spells from within the Immortal Sect for study, and he also concocted some medicines himself, hoping to stave off death before his time was up."

Li Xuanxuan immediately showed a look of distress, saying somewhat helplessly:

"Speaking of which, it was my family that needed him to handle matters, and the job isn't even done! Yet, he's about to die… What a waste of effort…"

Li Qinghong nodded in agreement, obviously also considering this issue, and simply replied:

"It's more than that, Xizhi said our own Li Encheng won't be able to help much with the family's affairs... all this back and forth is troublesome."

She took out a jade scroll from her sleeve, densely packed with many items listed on it, and whispered:

"They demand Precious Medicines and also Spiritual Water, claiming that after the breakthrough, they will surely repay, but who isn't aware that once he goes, he won't return, and what are the chances of a breakthrough..."

Li Xijun took the jade scroll, examined it closely—names like "Tongyuan Water" and "Changshan Spirit Stones" listed among dozens of items, all valuable, and at the end, even noted in tiny writing was:

'If a clue to the "Heavenly Pure Essence" is found, a hefty reward is guaranteed!'

Li Xuanxuan looked at the jade scroll and scoffed, saying:

"If my family had such an eminent Spiritual Water like the 'Heavenly Pure Essence,' would we ever give it to him? Ridiculous!"

Li Xijun went over it twice, and softly said:

"These items are indeed beyond what our family can afford, what do aunt and elder brother think?"

Li Qinghong replied:

"Li Encheng's younger brother Li Enxi, spite being a Foundation Establishment Cultivator, humbled himself with tearful pleas in your elder brother's Central Hall, using the favor from the Sui Origin Pill from years ago and invoking the goodwill between the Li and Weili… your brother found it hard to refuse…"

"I understand."

Li Xijun naturally put away the jade scroll, speaking softly:

"I will collect one or two of these items, as for the rest, I'll substitute them with Qi Cultivation Spiritual Objects of the same nature, and simply spend some Spirit Stones to send them to Qing Song Island."

"The Great Formation has just been built at home, we really can't afford much. I'll speak to Li Enxi, he should be able to understand."

Li Qinghong nodded slightly, whispering:

"That's all we can do."

Li Xuanxuan watching could only feel the pinch, and reminded:

"Why keep giving him benefits for nothing? Li Encheng didn't do anything for our family…"

Li Xijun understood his pain and softly said:

"Since Xige'er promised, he naturally has his plans, we just need to give our full support."

Li Xuanxuan, trusting Li Xizhi, then said:

"That makes sense, let's settle on that."

Li Qinghong nodded and went on to relay the news she had received along the way, whispering:

"There's no rush to come and go, Xijun'er, you first arrange to gather the Spiritual Objects, and we can leave in a few months."

Lijing Town.

Li Chengliao had been waiting on the mountain for a long time, growing increasingly anxious, until he finally saw Li Qinghong sending Li Zhouwei down, and he laughed:

"You haven't taken him away for long, and already you can't bear to part with your precious child?"

Li Chengliao smiled awkwardly, lifted Li Zhouwei into his arms and flew down with the wind, crossing over the lake and into the Central Hall. He looked carefully; the boy seemed exactly the same as before yet there seemed to be some transformation. He simply asked:

"Wei'er, how was the mountain?"

Li Zhouwei appeared still immersed in the experience from just before, softly saying:

"Father, there were a lot of Du Ruos on the mountain."

Li Chengliao paused, suddenly realizing his child was speaking in riddles with him. Yet, of those seated in this Central Hall, how many were there who were not complex characters? He slightly raised an eyebrow and began to think deeply.

He quickly dredged up a memory that had been buried for years. He was just six years old when he had been sent up the mountain to be tested for talent, his father Li Xihong was not by his side, and there were a few other younger siblings with him.

"Ancestral hall... cushion... Minggong... Chengyi…"

The hazy memory slowly became clear, Li Chengliao remembered being bound in all five senses, kneeling somewhere, and finally being led out having learned a Taoist Spell.

Now with far more insight than before, he looked down and uttered gravely:

"Did they take you to the ancestral hall?"

Li Zhouwei raised an eyebrow and met his gaze, his dark golden pupils stirring slightly as he spoke softly,

"Father had been there before?"

Li Chengliao silently nodded, a contemplative look appearing in his eyes. His thoughts were incredibly quick as he spoke in a low voice,

"Naturally, I've been there. Nothing can seal your eyes... Regardless, Jun'er must know about it."

Li Zhouwei was somewhat surprised and paused before replying,

"Father asks too much."

Li Chengliao, as if awoken from a dream, found himself at a loss for words. He laughed heartily after a few moments of silence and hugged him, whispering,

"Indeed, it was my fault, I lost my composure for a moment. My child, with such a divine bearing, you won't disappoint anyone."

He sighed,

"It is all for the sake of the family..."

Li Zhouwei stared at his expression as if observing his countenance. Those dark golden pupils roamed freely, inadvertently revealing a wild fierceness akin to that of a tiger or leopard, and he took these words to heart, silently pondering:

'It is all for the sake of the family...'

He smiled radiantly and pulling Li Chengliao into the Central Hall, he picked up a long halberd nearby and exclaimed with a laugh,

"My halberd technique has improved again, let me show you a thing or two, Father!"

Eastern Shanyue.

As the rain pattered down, Yuan Fuyao had patrolled the town for a week and quickly returned to his Cave Mansion. Two attendants approached him, asking for news.

Yuan Fuyao, however, waved his hand and replied,

"The climate in the north of Yue seems to be gradually returning to normal. Who knows to what extent the two sects have fought."

He sat at a stone table and couldn't help but ask,

"How is the situation with the... second Elder at home?"

The power struggle within the Yuan Family, like the weather, was slowly coming to an end. Yuan Fuyao had scouts in his family and was not completely ignorant. His uncle, Yuan Huyuan, dared not even return home anymore, and there was no news of his father. Now, the second Elder, Yuan Hudu, controlled the situation.

Yuan Fuyao had anticipated this early on. The second Elder's backing was the Chi Family; how could he possibly lose? From the beginning to the end, it had been a meaningless struggle of a trapped beast, needlessly depleting the family's strength.

Now that the dust had settled, Yuan Hudu, who originally had a fairly good relationship with Yuan Fuyao, made him feel rather distressed:

"Why on earth did he pick the Li Family! I used to share some kinship with Yuan Hudu and owed much to his care. Now, I have become an enemy of Yuan Hudu... In this vast world, I am confined to this town!"

While he was lamenting in the courtyard, he hadn't expected the two excited attendants to come rushing up, exclaiming,

"Young Master! A letter has arrived from home!"

Yuan Fuyao eagerly took the letter and read it carefully from beginning to end, his hands trembling with the sharpness of the handwriting. Upon a closer look at the signature, it was indeed from Yuan Hudu!

Yuan Hudu treated him very courteously. He went over things repeatedly, explaining everything candidly and wrote,

"Now that I am at the helm, feigning trust from the Chi Family, I have allowed Huyuan to search for the Peak Master's whereabouts, all discussed carefully with your father, and have arranged for you to marry Miss Song. Please return home promptly."

"Your father promised long ago, and you must go. The bridal price will be hefty, which the Li Family will demand. If you have already obtained it or have some leads, do not make it known. Find an excuse to escape from Wangyue Lake and return quickly. As long as you come back safely, I will personally visit to demand its return for you... I fear if you fall into the hands of others, becoming a tool in their hands, there will never be another chance."

Yuan Hudu detailed everything to him, even clarifying which Immortal Sect faction each Elder represented. He advised,

"The Li Family is now aligned with the Ning Family. With the Ning Family's dominance over the Southern Border for many years, the Chi Family has long been dissatisfied... Your father has only you as an heir! Do not accompany them to their graves!"

Yuan Fuyao read with a sweat-soaked back, a sudden realization dawning on him. He thought to himself,

"Can it really be so?! Father had already arranged everything! The Elders were all pretending."

He pondered it over and over, and though he felt that Yuan Huyuan's expression that day was genuine, he was torn and uncertain about what to do. He then saw one of the Yuan Family attendants saying,

"Young Master... the person who delivered the letter said... at the hour of Zi tonight, he will be waiting for you in the south... This is..."

Yuan Fuyao was instantly alarmed and cursed,

"Why do you only tell me now!"

Looking at the moon in the sky, he was immediately thrown into disarray. Not being a decisive person, he was as restless as an ant on a hot pan, wanting to rush out immediately yet also wanting to wait and think things through a bit more. He just stamped his foot and said,

"What am I to do!"
