Family Cultivation: I Become a Mirror
Chapter 652 481 Yunxiaozi_2
Li Qinghong asked,
"What kind of demon does Taoist Fellow wish to kill on this journey?"
Hui Yao simply said,
"It's just killing a Cloud Octopus, who practices the 'Cotton Jin' nature, and whose Taoist Foundation is the 'Auspicious Qi Cloud.' It's a creature that values wealth as dearly as its own life, with a Cultivation Level at the Foundation Establishment Late Stage, commanding two at the Foundation Establishment, and over a hundred Qi Cultivation minor demons."
"This damned thing, taking advantage of its ability to ride the winds and clouds, has been plundering my territory one by one. Annoyingly, because of its wretched Taoist Foundation which is greatly valued by the Dragon Prince, I want to kill it during this gap, to prevent the new Dragon Prince from giving it a higher position over me when he arrives."
Hui Yao pointed southward and said in a strange voice,
"Straight ahead in this direction, heading south, where the clouds grow denser near the cape, close to the easternmost part of the South Sea, it resides within those clouds."
Li Qinghong assessed their combined forces and felt they were slightly inferior. He asked,
"Do you have any reinforcements? Surely it's not just you, a Demon General, alone?"
Hui Yao said,
"I also have two thousand three hundred and sixty-seven bothers, named Hui'er, who is at the Middle Stage of Cultivation."
Li Qinghong was startled and sheepishly said,
"Your mother… is indeed spawning a thriving offspring."
Hui Yao, transformed into a fish head, led the way, waiting for Li Qinghong and Kongheng to catch up, muttering,
"Our kind breeds once a year, each litter yielding thirty-six thousand offspring, out of which only three become Chi Fish; the rest transform into eels, lingfish, or swamp eels... incomparable to your Human Race indeed."
Both Li Qinghong and his companion felt as if they were broadening their horizons. Hui Yao sighed and said in a low voice,
"My Chi Fish, since the third son's fifth grandson of the Chi dragon interbred with an eel, who knows how much our bloodline has degraded. It's only a thousand-year history; naturally, we carry a shabby look."
"Your Human Race ancestors started earlier; I have no idea how much of the Metal Nature's fruits they have occupied, as stable as Mount Tai, even indulging in using what you call surnames to distinguish different Metal Nature descendants... Countless methods of cultivation, how can we possibly compare with you."
"Even if one were a true descendant of a Chi... over ten thousand years, they only managed to achieve something in Water Virtue and the Twelve Ziqi. Ultimately, they cannot compare with you."
Hui Yao did not show the imposing manner of a member of the Demon Race's Dragon Kind dominating the Four Seas, but rather a sense of defeatism, shrugging as he said,
"Otherwise... why would we even need to eat humans? They're really nutritious. Steal one ten thousandth from their foundations, and there are endless benefits to enjoy."
The two listened in silence as Hui Yao quickly changed the topic, explaining,
"This Cloud Octopus practices one of the Twelve Ziqi, known as 'Cotton Jin,' also referred to as 'Auspicious Ziqi.' Its frontal combat ability is not strong; just prevent it from escaping."
As for Taoist Lineages like Water Virtue, Fire Virtue, there are many types, among which the Twelve Ziqi is one, containing twelve varieties, with several being notably famous, such as the Purple Ziqi of the Ziyun Sect, and the Jin Ziqi of the Jin Yu Sect.
The most famous of these is the commonly seen 'Lesser Pure Spiritual Energy,' which belongs to 'Pure Ziqi.' It's the easiest to collect and is mostly practiced by Loose Cultivators.
Kongheng, who has wandered far and wide, had seen many such practices, but Li Qinghong had not, and was a bit curious. They both rode the wind deeper into the south, as the sky grew increasingly dim.
Hui'er was already waiting in the mist with a group of Chi Fish. He was even uglier, with a head like a split open watermelon. He left his subordinates behind and followed without a word.
Li Qinghong estimated their strength and realized these demons could not leave them behind. They increased their distance as they went deeper into the south. Grey clouds rose around them, lingering without dissipating, swirling around everyone's Dharma Light, as their Spirit Mechanism gradually declined.
After flying for another quarter-hour, whirlpools surged upwards into the grey mist, turning into rain that poured down. The Spirit Mechanism here was still rich, as grey octopuses fell from the sky.
Some Cloud Octopuses already possessed cultivation, flying through the clouds in the air. Their large tentacles held various animals and humans. Upon seeing the group, they scattered, and some even began spewing out golden mist, hiding in the sea.
Seeing this scene, Hui Yao became overjoyed, thinking to himself,
'Heaven wants to destroy you, old thing! Bringing two helpers who are on the righteous path, letting them witness your actions, will add some unfounded hatred towards you in their hearts!'
Kongheng closed his eyes slightly and did not speak. Vague shouts came from the sky, and Li Qinghong frowned, feeling they had been rash. Hui Yao, however, stepped forward, pulling out a golden scroll.
He gently unrolled it, pretending to glance at it, and called out,
"Cloud Octopus, the esteemed Dragon Prince has arrived at Zhu Lu. Hurry up and accompany me to welcome him!"
Upon saying this, the entire grey fog trembled, and a large grey octopus emerged, tentacles weaving through the clouds, its skin crawling with marine beetles of all sizes. Its eyes were big and dark, like window panes, staring straight ahead.
The cloud octopus swiftly transformed into a human shape; it was an old man with a saddle nose and a collapsing bridge, leaning on a wooden cane, his expression showing suspicion as he said,
"What is this? Where is the item of proof!"
Hui Yao cursed,
"You're so blind with your bubble eyes and still dare to look for the proof?"
He revealed a cold smile, grabbed Hui'er standing next to him, and said,
"We're leaving, we're leaving! Don't blame me for not warning you!"
So, they rode the wind and fled, the cloud octopus could no longer sit idly by, not daring to gamble, he hurriedly chased after them through the clouds, saying,
"I was merely joking!"
He rode the wind for several miles, barely catching up with everyone, and Li Qinghong thought to himself,
"This demon has improved, its scheming is quite substantial, good enough to deal with other demons."
Hui Yao shook his head and swaggered, showing a very domineering attitude, obviously well-planned in advance, he sneered and said,
"The Dragon Kind regards me highly, letting me personally receive the guests, you should show some respect."
The cloud octopus looked Li Qinghong and Kongheng up and down, as Hui Yao introduced,
"This is a disciple of the Immortal Sect..."
The cloud octopus reluctantly stepped forward, but after taking a few steps, the four people in front of him burst into action all at once. Thunderbolt, flame, Dharma Light, and demonic power were unleashed onto him, creating a tremendous roar.
"Rumble!"
The cloud octopus let out a sharp shriek, his body exploding in a cloud of golden mist, instantly filling the area for ten miles around, as loud collisions and explosions resounded, and he vanished from the spot.
Hui Yao burst out with a hearty laugh, took a bell out from his bosom that glowed with a green luster, raised it into the air, blew on it, and gently shook it.
"Ding ding ding..."
The dense bell ringing resonated, and the tumultuous waves that had just begun to surge underfoot suddenly calmed, becoming like a gray mirror, or neatly carved stone, silent and serene.
The sea surface, stirred like windblown grass and trees, rustled as the golden mist dispersed in no time; several Spiritual Senses that had been blocked swept over the sea and chased toward the south together.
"You… you've borrowed a Magic Artifact!"
The cloud octopus appeared somewhat disheveled, with a charred face, showing a look of panic but soon saw a streak of Purple Light hurtling towards him, a Spear aimed directly at his back.
"Thunder Dharma!"
The cloud octopus exclaimed, and since he had been spotted, the human form was no longer useful for concealment, the eight tentacles burst forth under his robe, lips turning into sharp, purplish-black hooks like a bird's beak, hiding within the rapidly tumbling and vast flesh.
An enormous eight-tentacled creature appeared in the gray cloud sea, and although Li Qinghong was slightly less advanced in Cultivation Level, she showed no fear, swept her Spear horizontally, and thunder rained down abundantly like a storm.
The purple Mysterious Pattern Bottle at her waist floated up, slowly aiming at the monster's eyes, gathering strands of Purple Lightning; the sky instantly became covered with dark clouds, flashing with thunder.
Li Qinghong merely made a slight move, not using the profound Mysterious Thunder from the Thunder Pool, but it was enough to terrify the creature. It kept saying,
"Taoist Fellow... what enmity do we have between us!"
"Rumble!"
The Thunderbolt was quicker than his words, a column of lightning sprayed out from the purple bottle's mouth, a mix of purple and white, striking his body, charring it, tearing skin and flesh. He let out a scream akin to a howl, his eight tentacles flailed in anger toward the sky.
"Clang!"
But there was the thin-eyed monk, surrounded by a brilliant golden radiance, seated cross-legged in mid-air, eyes wide open in mighty silence without anger, extending one hand, the golden light cascading down, forcefully pushing back all of the tentacles.
Kongheng's years of Qi Cultivation had not been in vain, no longer just a novice Mage, exerting an imposing presence, the gold light scorched intensely, causing all of the cloud octopus's tentacles to shrink back, hurriedly avoiding the heat.
Hui Yao and Hui'er finally arrived late, the two demon fish exchanged looks, both seeing confusion and fear in each other's eyes.
'Damn it... what's the need for us two now!'
