Chapter 574: Cave

Over the next three space years, Shen Xu and Zhen Yuan worked hard to prepare all kinds of goods including pills, weapons, talismans, formation disks, inscriptions, wines, snacks, fruits, and others.

"Ayuan, I have an idea." Shen Xu said with a mischievous smile.

"What idea?" Zhen Yuan asked.

"Why don’t we become travelling merchants." The double said and quickly continued.

"It’s not impossible but that will delay us for thousands of years." Zhen Yuan said but Shen Xu shrugged.

"It’s not like we are in a hurry to go somewhere." He said.

Shen Xu was right!

They wanted to reunite with the others, but they weren’t in a hurry to do so.

After all, they still didn’t have a way of leaving the lower heaven.

"Okay. Let’s go with your plan." Zhen Yuan agreed.

With that, Shen Xu spent ten space years to refine a carriage, and Zhen Yuan spent five space years to engrave formations and inscriptions into the carriage.

When everything was ready, the two exited the space and reunited with the puppets.

After that, they retrieved the space pendant, sent the poisonous plants to Xiaoren, properly stored the other poison resources, and listened to the puppets’ discoveries before collecting the puppets.

"What about the other?" He asked and Zhen Yuan smiled before pointing at the ground.

"Right here." He said.

"It’s buried underground?" The double asked and Zhen Yuan shook his head before speaking.

"It’s the soil. I am not sure what the soil is, but it’s great for growing poisonous weeds. Let’s send some to the space." He said.

With that, the two began digging, and sent the soil into the space until Xiaoren asked them to stop.

"Ayuan, I have just realised that I can now eat poisonous fruits without worrying about being poisoned." Shen Xu suddenly said and Zhen Yuan chuckled.

"Only a few a poisonous fruits are delicious. Most are bitter." He said but Shen Xu didn’t care.

His only thought was that he could now do something that he previously couldn’t.

After digging for half a month, the two left the area and walked south.

Two days later, they stopped at a place filled with rainbow-coloured poison mist and began looking around.

An incense stick later, Zhen Yuan saw a hidden cave and led Shen Xu towards the entrance.

"This is it." He said and narrowed his eyes.

There were no protective formations around the cave.

However, the two sensed a subtle killing intent, and knew the cave wasn’t unprotected.

"I will send a butterfly puppet." Shen Xu said and released five butterfly puppets to scout the entrance.

However, just as the butterflies approached the entrance, hidden arrows sprung from the cave and pierced the butterflies.

Instantaneously, the arrows burst into flames and destroyed the butterflies.

"How insidious." Shen Xu said and sent more puppet butterflies.

In this way, the double destroyed three hundred puppet butterflies before he and Zhen Yuan were sure that there were no more arrows.

That said, they didn’t directly enter the cave.

Instead, the released some low-level puppets and let them lead the way while they followed behind.

The cave was small; only ten square metres.

At a glance, it only had a stone bed and a clothes skeleton was lying on it.

"Poor bustard." Shen Xu said and wanted to say more but before he could, he saw a golden flash rushing towards him.

"The soul was refined into a drop of golden soul power. I will absorb it when I have time." Shen Xu said but suddenly thought of something.

"Ayuan, It’s a gold-coloured remnant soul." He excitedly said.

He and Zhen Yuan previously learned about soul colour change due to soul evolution.

However, the golden colour had nothing to do with evolution but was the soul colour of god realm cultivators.

"The person was a god realm cultivator." Shen Xu said and Zhen Yuan narrowed his eyes.

"It’s said that unknown areas are discarded fragments from the god realm. Maybe the person was in the cave when the fragment was thrown down." Zhen Yuan speculated and Shen Xu nodded.

"Maybe." He said and quickly continued.

"He was probably injured or running from an enemy. Otherwise, no god would choose to descend to the immortal realm for no reason."

"Let’s check his belongings." Zhen Yuan said and walked to the bed.

The skeleton was wearing a black robe but the clothes were damaged at different places.

"He was probably attacked." Shen Xu said and shifted his gaze to the storage ring on the skeleton’s finger.

"The ring is intact." Zhen Yuan said, and reached for it.
