Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)

Chapter 156: I Will Change

The cottage living room walls were completely filled with pictures, turning the cozy, warm space into a rich collection of visual memories from the six crazy months the girls had been living together.

There were vibrant pictures from their spontaneous skydiving trip, showing the two girls strapped tightly together and screaming at the top of their lungs as they jumped straight out of the hovering plane.

Others showed them constantly laughing and enjoying themselves in the refreshing swimming pool, including one particularly clear shot of them kissing sweet underwater, their faces pressed close together beneath the blue water.

There were plenty of silly pictures hanging up too.

Some had been taken late at night in the bathroom, featuring messy morning hair, absurd facial expressions, and absolutely zero effort or attempt to look good for the lens.

Others were random photos they had taken during their mundane everyday moments, the exact kind of pictures that made no logical sense to anyone else who walked into the house, but somehow made the two of them burst out laughing every single time they looked at them.

Coco and Percy had their own dedicated pictures scattered across the lower section of the wall.

There was even a small framed photo of the three little kittens sitting side by side together, looking almost too sweet and innocent for all the chaotic trouble they usually caused around the house.

Right beside that pet frame hung a large family picture.

Everyone had tightly squeezed together in the frame for the group photo, smiling brightly at the camera and looking far happier than any of them probably realized at the time it was taken.

But among all those cherished memories hanging on the wall, one specific frame stood out above the rest.

It was their laminated original contract.

The very same formal contract that had started this entire unexpected relationship between them had been carefully placed inside a neat frame and hung proudly on the living room wall.

It was definitely no longer just a cold piece of signed paper to either of them.

It had officially become another massive memory of the full six months they had spent building a life together.

It was a constant daily reminder of how something that had originally started as a simple, transactional agreement had slowly transformed into something deep that neither of them had ever expected to feel.

Sitting directly on the plush couch facing each other were the two girlfriends.

Both of them sat in complete silence, waiting patiently for the other to finally break the heavy tension in the air.

"I still can’t believe you suddenly don’t want to get married to me," April pouted, her lower lip sticking out as she stared across the cushion. "You literally told me earlier that you would instantly say yes if I asked you..."

"I was completely going to say yes to you," Angel said, leaning forward slightly. "But you’re the exact one who said it out loud yourself. You said you don’t want any kind of change in our life, and getting married to each other is definitely a change..."

"No, that’s completely different," April argued back softly. "Having a whole human baby is a massive, dramatic change in our daily lives. A huge one. But us getting married is just like a natural upgrade for us. Like, think about it. We started out as secret sex buddies, then we became actual girlfriends, and now we would be wives. We will officially be each other’s wife. You’ve always said you wanted to get married..."

"I do want to marry you, April," Angel answered, her crimson eyes steady. "And I also really want to be a mommy..."

"Come on, Angel," April sighed, shaking her head as she remembered their past conversations. "You used to constantly say back then that you never wanted to be a mother. You literally hated the whole thought of that....." She distinctly recalled all those times Angel had openly insisted she disliked kids and would never ever want one of her own.

Angel shifted her body a little closer to her girlfriend across the couch.

"That was back before I completely fell in love with you," Angel confessed openly.

Her voice softened into a gentle murmur.

"Right now, I am so deeply in love with you, and I spend all my time dreaming of doing every single thing with you. Getting married, having little children together, loving them with everything we have, being there for them every step of the way, and growing old together in this house. You even admitted yourself that you noticed all those tiny hints I was leaving around."

Angel slowly reached out across the gap and gently took April’s hand into her own.

"April, if you genuinely think that I am going to change after we have kids together... you’re completely right about that," Angel said quietly. "I definitely will change. But I will be your loving wife through it all. That is a major change. I will be a genuinely good mother to our children every day. That is also another major change."

She smiled softly, her thumb gently tracing the back of April’s knuckles.

"My deep love for you will also constantly change," Angel added. "It will be so much greater than it is today, because literally every single day that passes, I find myself falling in love with you more and more..."

April slowly looked down toward the fabric of the couch, her restless eyes searching for anywhere else to look except directly at her Alpha’s intense, loving face.

"I’m just so scared, Angel..." April whispered, her chest tight.

Her soft voice trembled visibly in the quiet living room.

"I’m so terrified that I’m going to end up being so much worse than my own mom was," April admitted, tears welling up in her eyes. "I’m scared that I’m not going to be able to live up to our future kids’ expectations at all, and that I’ll just end up failing them completely, just like mine failed me when I was little..."

Angel’s tough facial expression instantly softened into complete warmth.

She reached forward with her free hand and gently touched April’s chin, slowly lifting her face upward until their eyes met again.

"I’m also scared, Bambina..." Angel admitted softly.

Angel’s thumb gently brushed against her smooth cheek, wiping away the small drop of moisture forming there.

"But as long as we nurture them properly, stay present to be there for them through everything, and truly become their best friends as they grow up, they will be so proud of us," Angel reassured her. "We will love them unconditionally, no matter what happens."

She paused for a quiet moment, holding April’s tearful gaze.

"We are definitely not our parents, April," Angel said firmly. "We are us. And together, we will choose to be completely different."

April’s emerald eyes completely filled up with warm tears as she listened to those words.

"Just promise me right now that you’ll always love me," April pleaded softly. "Always. And promise you’ll never ever leave me all alone out there. We will always be right there for each other through everything..."

A warm tear finally rolled down her cheek, cutting a slow path down her skin.

Angel pulled her entire body closer, wrapping her arms around her waist.

"I promise you with everything I have, Bebe," Angel whispered against her skin. "I will never ever stop loving you, and I will always be right there to protect and provide for our family."

She pressed her warm forehead gently against April’s forehead, closing her eyes.

"I love you so much, Bambina..."

April let out a small, wet laugh and smiled brightly through her tears.

"I love you too, Papi"

The two girls finally leaned directly toward each other and shared a deep, soft, romantic kiss right there in the living room, completely surrounded by their six full months of cherished memories on the walls and the sweet promise of everything still waiting for them in the future.
