Third Person

It turned out that Ms. January recognized Angel from the major surfing competition held in Kanoe years ago.

She eagerly began telling everyone at the dining table about the thrilling adventures of the event and how Angel dominated the water to win first place.

"So you have actually been to Kanoe before?" April asked, turning her head to look directly at her girlfriend with a quiet curiosity in her eyes.

"Yeah," Angel nodded casually, taking a small bite of her food. "That was the exact competition I was talking about earlier..."

Hearing that honest answer straight from Angel, April couldn’t help but wonder if, by some wild chance, Angel was actually the mysterious, quiet girl she had met on that rainy day back in high school.

She decided not to ask any further about it right now while everyone was eating.

After they all finished dinner, the girls prepared to say their goodbyes and head back out on the road, but the moment they stood up, little June started crying loudly, holding onto her big sister’s shirt and begging her to stay just a little bit longer.

Seeing the small girl so heartbroken, April and Angel quickly decided to stay at the house for one more day before officially leaving for Mexico.

The house happened to be a two-bedroom apartment, so Angel decided to sleep on the living room couch while April stayed inside the bedroom with her small sister.

While Angel was trying her best to get comfortable on the couch, constantly moving her body from one awkward position to another, she opened her eyes into the dim room.

She suddenly saw April quietly crouching down right beside the edge of the couch, her bright emerald eyes wide open as she stared straight at the Alpha in the dark.

"How long have you been crouching there staring at me?" Angel asked, raising an eyebrow as she looked back at her.

"I just really can’t sleep right now," April murmured, resting her chin on the cushion. "Are you sleeping?"

Angel paused for a brief moment before answering.

Because why on earth will you ask someone who is awake that question..

"Well, I’m wide awake now..."

"I have been having this persistent thought in my head ever since dinner," April began softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "There was this specific rainy day when I was still attending high school. I was standing under a small shade, patiently waiting for the rain to stop before going back home, and there was someone standing right there with me. They ended up giving me a quick ride and even let me hold their surfboard. I didn’t get to see their face properly back then because of the rain and my eyes. I was just wondering if that mystery person was actually you..."

Angel lay there and thought deeply about it, trying hard to remember the details of when that whole thing happened.

"So you were that weird school girl drinking the falling rainwater and straight up romancing my surfboard," Angel said, a small smirk forming on her lips in the dark.

"Really?" April gasped quietly, her cheeks flushing red. "I was definitely not romancing your board..."

"So you were trying to seduce my board then?" Angel teased.

"No, I was just admiring it," April countered, pouting slightly. "There were so many normal fun things I didn’t get to do as a child, and when I saw someone holding that cool board, I just really wanted to know what it actually felt like to hold one..."

Angel smiled genuinely into the dim room.

"See? We actually met way before that mansion... You were honestly kind of weird back then, asking a complete stranger for a ride. What if I had kidnapped you right then and there?"

"You did not kidnap me," April said plainly.

"I honestly had thought of doing that for a second," Angel admitted with a dry chuckle, "but then I thought to myself, if we happened to meet another day in the future, then I definitely would."

"I’m totally sure you saw my face back then," April said, looking closely at Angel’s eyes.

"I did see it," Angel said, resting her arm behind her head. "But you had no glasses on back then, and it was a pretty tragic day for me to properly remember some random girl I had only glanced at for a few seconds. So tell me, where is my surfboard now? I want it back."

"Huhhh..." April confessed, her voice dropping as she looked down at the floor. "My mom burnt it in the yard."

"What a sick bitch..." Angel muttered, shaking her head in total disbelief. "Okay then, good night. Go back to bed." Angel turned her body around to face the back cushions of the couch.

Just when Angel fully thought April was going to stand up and leave for the bedroom, she didn’t move away at all.

April carefully squeezed her body onto the narrow couch, pulling herself in close and cuddling tightly with the Alpha.

"I want to stay right here with you..." April murmured softly against Angel’s shoulder, getting completely comfortable. "I really can’t sleep at all without you by my side."

Angel wrapped her arm firmly around April’s waist and kissed her soft forehead.

"Good night..."

April muttered quietly as she drifted off to sleep...

The couch that had felt so uncomfortable to Angel just moments ago suddenly didn’t feel uncomfortable anymore. Somehow, having her Omega resting safely beside her made all the difference.

Angel leaned back against the couch, her body finally relaxing as she glanced down at her. A small smile slowly appeared on her face. All she cared about was having her Omega close to her. The warmth beside her made the whole place feel different. Even though there wasn’t much space for them to move around, Angel didn’t mind. As long as her Omega was safe and comfortable beside her, she was perfectly fine staying there.

And down by the bottom of the couch, Coco and Percy also found themselves tightly cuddled together on the very same couch right beside their mommies.
