Chapter 706 - 706: Battle Against the God Seeds

Erza was no happier about being underestimated.

Golden light flashed around her as she instantly Requipped into the Ink Dragon Armor.

She spun her halberd through an elegant flourish before planting it heavily against the ground.

"It's simple. We make him pay for it."

Cana summoned her black panther and Dragon Bow with her cards, then switched the bow's attribute to fire.

The crystal at its center immediately turned crimson as the black panther crouched low beside her.

Cana drew the bowstring and took aim.

"Let's go!"

Ultear held a magical crystal sphere in one hand, Purgatory Dragon flames dancing within it.

Her eyes sharpened.

"Attack!"

At her command, blue flames ignited around Black's four paws before the panther slipped into the shadows.

Erza and Mira simultaneously flew toward the Aldoron God Seed from opposite sides.

Cana's attack reached him first.

Three fire-element arrows intertwined in midair and transformed into a blazing tornado that surged toward Aldoron.

The God Seed turned one arm into a wooden sword and cut the fiery vortex apart, but Erza and Mira were already upon him.

Erza spun her halberd and brought it crashing down.

At the same time, the half-dragon armor covering Mira's right arm transformed into a flaming dragon head.

Erza's halberd slammed against one of Aldoron's arms while the fiery jaws clamped around the other.

The sheer force of Erza's strike nearly buckled him, while burning agony spread through the arm trapped inside Mira's flames.

Before Aldoron could counterattack, Black emerged from his shadow.

Flames erupted around the panther's claws.

He carved a blazing cross across Aldoron's back and sent the God Seed stumbling forward.

More than a dozen crimson magical crystal spheres appeared around him.

Mira, Erza, and Black immediately withdrew.

Then Ultear's Purgatory Dragon's Blazing Hell and Cana's Fire-Element Tornado swallowed Aldoron simultaneously.

BOOOOM!

A violent explosion tore through the chamber.

Aldoron screamed from inside the flames.

He had made a serious mistake.

Of the four women facing him, three possessed powerful fire attacks.

And the only one who did not—Erza—was wearing armor clearly designed specifically for fighting dragons.

His arm was still throbbing from her earlier strike.

Aldoron was already beginning to regret his decision.

He should have swallowed his pride and run the moment they appeared.

After only a few exchanges, he could already tell how perfectly these four coordinated with one another.

There was a very real possibility that he would not even get the chance to struggle properly.

He could sense that some of the other God Seeds had fallen into danger as well.

Having fought them once before, Wendy knew exactly how to deal with Doom.

The instant the God Seed released his spores, Wendy immediately used her cleansing Enchantment to neutralize the snowflake-like spores that embodied death.

After enhancing the three fighters around her, Wendy used her speed to toy with Doom and slipped behind him.

"Sky Dragon's Claw!"

Her heel slammed into the side of his neck.

Doom spun around and tried to grab her, but Sherria had already appeared beside him.

"Sky God's Dance!"

A vertical black tornado erupted beneath Doom and hurled him into the air.

"Archenemy: Azure Phoenix Form!"

Kagura seized the opening and drew her blade in a flash.

The phantom of an azure bird struck Doom squarely in the waist and launched him even higher.

Wendy and Sherria attacked together.

"Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Shattering Light—Sky Drill!"

"God Slayer Secret Art: Ame-no-Murakumo!"

A horizontal blue tornado and a black vortex converged.

They tore straight through Doom's chest.

Elsewhere, Gray, Juvia, Lyon, and Sherry led another group against Wolfen.

Natsu had provided the perfect answer during their previous encounter: think about Zeref while he was afflicted by Ankhseram's Curse.

Unfortunately, Wolfen had learned from that mistake.

This time, whenever he sensed someone thinking about Zeref, he simply refused to transform into him.

And Gray and Lyon certainly were not reckless enough to gamble on whether they could survive Ankhseram's Curse themselves.

So they adopted another solution.

They kept thinking about Happy and Frosch.

Gray repeatedly swung his Ice Devil Slayer blade through the manifested Frosches, shouting every time he cut one apart.

"Sorry, Frosch!!!"

Lyon finally stared at him.

"But what about Happy?"

Far away, where he was watching Natsu fight, Happy suddenly shivered.

"I just got this horrible feeling that someone betrayed me!"

Frosch nodded solemnly.

"Frosch thinks so too!"

Gray wisely chose silence.

Then he immediately changed the subject.

"Quit talking! There are still tons of these wooden things. Hurry up and deal with them!"

Fortunately, Sting and Rogue were not part of Gray's group.

If they had been forced to watch an army of Frosches getting hacked apart, neither of them would have been happy.

Happy and Frosch were both complete small fry in terms of actual combat strength, so Wolfen's copied versions posed little threat.

Gray, Juvia, Macao, and Laki soon coordinated their next attack.

Juvia and Macao focused on clearing away the wooden soldiers while raising curtains of water and walls of sand to buy Gray time and conceal his movements.

Because Juvia knew Gray so well, the Gray she shaped entirely from water looked remarkably convincing.

It successfully fooled Wolfen.

Meanwhile, the real Gray had already entered Ice Devil Slayer Mode.

Using a wooden watchtower created by Laki's Wood-Make, he took position high above the battlefield.

He drew back his weapon.

"Ice Devil Slayer Magic: Zeroth Destruction Bow!"

The charged Devil-Slaying arrow vanished from the bowstring.

A heartbeat later, it reached Wolfen.

The projectile flew straight through Wolfen's open mouth and continued into the ground behind him, pinning him in place.

Ice spread instantly across his entire body.

Lyon, Juvia, and Macao attacked together.

"Ice-Make: White Dragon!"

"Water Slicer!"

"Sand Sword!"

The white dragon, compressed water blade, and sword of sand slammed into the frozen God Seed.

Wolfen shattered into countless pieces.

All around them, the wooden soldiers he had summoned began fading away.

"We did it!"

Macao, Laki, and the others excitedly exchanged high fives.

Gray immediately cut the celebration short.

"No time for that. We need to help the others."

Ultear and Mira had already briefed them on the God Seeds beforehand.

Among the five, the most dangerous in direct combat were Gears, Metro, and Aldoron himself.

After a brief discussion, Gray made the decision.

He looked toward Lyon and Sherry.

"Juvia and I will go help against Gears. You two head for Metro."

With two God Seeds destroyed, Aldoron's overall power suddenly plummeted.

"ROOOOAR!!!"

The Wood Dragon God went berserk.

"Blade Forest!"

Sharp wooden spikes erupted wildly across Aldoron's gigantic body.

A vast storm of them filled the sky, descending like an endless rain of arrows.

Kurnugi's pupils contracted.

He immediately spread himself over the group and roared at everyone below.
