Extreme Spirit Chaos Technique
Chapter 580 - 568: Yuzi Technique
Chapter 580: Chapter 568: Yuzi Technique
"Absolutely not!" Mu Chen refused on the spot, without hesitation.
"Why not?!" Lei Yun’Er was furious. She felt she had already been incredibly humble, yet he still rejected her so decisively!
"Why?" Mu Chen chuckled. "You can go back and ask the ancestors of your Thunder God Hall when they obtained the Furious Thunder Force, and whether or not it was complete at the time. If they tell you it was already incomplete when they found it, then you naturally have no right to demand I return it to you. But if they claim the Furious Thunder Force was complete when your Thunder God Hall acquired it and was only stolen later... well, I’d just have to smile and stay silent. I don’t waste my breath on shameless people."
"How dare you call our ancestors shameless!" SLAM! Lei Yun’Er slammed her hand on the table and shot to her feet. Her large, golden eyes were fixed on Mu Chen, glaring as if she could kill him with her gaze alone.
Mu Chen shrugged nonchalantly. "I never said that," he stated calmly. "Don’t jump to conclusions. I said *if* they were to tell a bald-faced lie... *that* would be shameless."
"You’re still saying it!" Lei Yun’Er finally snapped. She grabbed Mu Chen’s arm, opened her mouth, and bit down hard!
"Hiss..." Mu Chen sucked in a sharp breath. Even though his physical fortitude had reached the Eighth Ring Emperor Realm, he still felt a sharp sting of pain from Lei Yun’Er’s surprise attack. Moreover, the little brat had really dared to bite down with all her might; she’d definitely used the full force of an Eighth-Ring Martial Emperor.
"Are you part dog or something?" A storm cloud gathered over Mu Chen’s head as he forcefully yanked his arm out of her mouth and growled.
Lei Yun’Er spat. "That’s right, I am! What are you gonna do about it?" she huffed. "Ptooey, ptooey! Your arm is like a block of iron. I can barely even leave a mark!"
Mu Chen broke out in a cold sweat. He glanced at Lei Yue’er, with her wide, blinking eyes, then back at Lei Yun’Er, who looked like an enraged lioness. He felt utterly helpless.
"What are you thinking?" Lei Yun’Er seemed to sense his thoughts, glaring at him.
"You really want to know?"
"Spit it out!"
Mu Chen threw up his hands helplessly. "How can two kids from the same parents, who even look identical, have such drastically different personalities?"
This time, however, Lei Yun’Er didn’t get angry. It was as if she was used to comments like this. She glanced at Lei Yue’er. "Yue’Er is so gentle. If I were gentle too, we’d get bullied to death. For my sister’s safety, I had to sacrifice being a lady and become a tomboy. But still... you really can’t just write down a copy of the Furious Thunder Force for me?"
"Hm?" Mu Chen was a little surprised by her expression, but he still nodded resolutely. "The Furious Thunder Force is the Combat Skill I use most frequently. It’s my core technique, and it’s fair to say it’s currently one of a kind on the Extreme Martial Continent. Until I’ve fulfilled my destiny and honored my promise, I can’t share it with anyone. It’s one of my greatest advantages, so please understand."
"So you’re saying... once you’ve fulfilled your destiny and honored your promise, you can share the Furious Thunder Force with me?" Lei Yun’Er’s disappointed expression vanished, replaced by a brilliant smile.
Mu Chen paused to think. "I suppose so," he said. "By then, sharing the Furious Thunder Force with you wouldn’t be an issue."
"Then it’s a deal!" Lei Yun’Er beamed. As a Direct Lineage Princess of the Thunder God Hall, she had actually known for a long time that the Furious Thunder Force hadn’t originated with them. A very, very long time ago, the first patriarch of the Thunder God Hall had obtained it through a fortunate coincidence. And while the Furious Thunder Force was powerful, it wasn’t the foundation upon which the Thunder God Hall was built. The desire to reclaim it was simply to fulfill an ancestral wish. Now that she had finally found someone who possessed the other part of the technique, she had naturally been a little too eager, which explained her aggressive behavior earlier.
But Mu Chen hadn’t caved to her aggressive tactics. Instead, he’d given her a reason that actually softened her heart. And while she had no idea what this destiny and promise of his were, she simply wanted to believe him.
With this thought, Lei Yun’Er sighed softly and took a brand-new Scroll from her Storage Ring. A tempestuous Thunder Attribute Elemental Power began to circulate madly, and countless characters suddenly materialized on the scroll—an inscription written with Primordial Power.
In moments, the new scroll was filled with countless characters. After reading it over carefully, Lei Yun’Er gently rolled the scroll shut and pushed it toward Mu Chen.
Mu Chen stared at the scroll, then looked up at Lei Yun’Er. "What’s this?" he asked, puzzled.
Lei Yun’Er pursed her lips. "What do you think? It’s the defensive method of the Furious Thunder Force, the Yuzi Technique."
"Hm?" Mu Chen grunted, not reaching for the scroll. Instead, his expression turned serious. "What do you mean by this?"
Lei Yun’Er shrugged nonchalantly. "It doesn’t mean anything. It’s exactly what it looks like. I’m giving you the defensive method of the Furious Thunder Force."
"It’s that simple?"
Mu Chen couldn’t believe his eyes. ’One minute this girl is screaming at me and biting me, and the next she pulls a stunt like this? There’s no such thing as a free lunch.’
"Believe it or not, that’s up to you. I’m leaving the Yuzi Technique right here. If you don’t want it, feel free to throw it away."
Lei Yun’Er was furious. ’I may only be sixteen, but I’m just as sharp as he is! Of course I can see the suspicion on his face. How dare he mistake my good intentions for ill will!’
"Give me a reason."
Mu Chen picked up the scroll, held it for a moment, then set it back down. He didn’t doubt the authenticity of the Yuzi Technique; now that they were on the serious topic of the Furious Thunder Force, there was no reason for Lei Yun’Er to lie. He just didn’t want to accept a favor for no reason. Even if he were to accept, he needed a justification. Otherwise, he would feel indebted.
Seeing his serious expression and hearing his grave tone, Lei Yun’Er knew Mu Chen would never accept the Yuzi Technique without a proper reason. She sighed in resignation. "Alright, I do have my own selfish reasons for giving you the Yuzi Technique," she admitted. "First off, this defensive method is useless to me. Never mind that it’s the least important part of the Thunderstorm Three Techniques; the cultivation restrictions alone mean that my sister and I are fated to never learn it."
Mu Chen was, of course, aware of this. The cultivation of Furious Thunder Force had three restrictions: first, it could only be cultivated by men; second, one had to be a virgin; and third, one needed an exceptionally powerful physique. Leaving aside the second point, the first and third restrictions alone meant that Lei Yun’Er and Lei Yue’er could never cultivate it.
Of course, the current Mu Chen was no longer a virgin either. However, he had already reached Minor Achievement with the Furious Thunder Force back when he was, so it didn’t hinder his later progress. As for the defensive method, that was a different story. It was the only part that didn’t require one to be a virgin to learn, and it could even resolve the cultivation restriction for those who weren’t.
"Furthermore, the Furious Thunder Force is inherently a trinity of techniques. Only by cultivating all three together can its true power be unleashed. The Thunder God Hall possesses only the defensive method. Rather than letting it collect dust, unseen by the world, it’s better to give it to you so that you can reveal its complete power. And yes, there are selfish reasons. As you know, although no one in the Thunder God Hall has ever used the Furious Thunder Force, its legend has spread far and wide. Throughout the Central State, almost everyone knows that our Thunder God Hall possesses a Celestial Rank Middle Grade Combat Skill."
At this, Lei Yun’Er winked at Mu Chen. "If one day your strength is enough to stand at the peak of the continent, or let’s say, you earn the recognition of the Nine Hidden Families, then the existence of the Furious Thunder Force will bring you and the Thunder God Hall closer. A Martial Artist who can defeat a Nine-Ring Peak Martial Emperor as a Seventh-Ring Martial Sect... I can’t imagine any reason why someone like that wouldn’t make a name for himself on the Extreme Martial Continent. Besides," she added, "if I give you the defensive method now, you’ll owe the Thunder God Hall a favor. A favor from an expert with limitless potential is worth far more than a single Celestial Tier Combat Skill. And on top of that, you already said you’d share the complete Furious Thunder Force with me after you’ve fulfilled your destiny and promise. So no matter how you slice it, I come out ahead."
Hearing her out, Mu Chen was profoundly shaken. He stared intently at the lovely sixteen-year-old girl before him, finding it impossible to reconcile the logic and tone of her words with her appearance. It was no wonder they had been so patient while waiting in line earlier, despite clearly possessing the power of Eighth-Ring Martial Emperors. ’To have their background and their Martial Arts Talent, yet not a shred of arrogance or imperiousness. Such intelligence, such character.’ Mu Chen suddenly felt a wave of relief. He was fortunate that these two girls weren’t his enemies.
"You’re feeling relieved, aren’t you?" Lei Yun’Er suddenly asked.
Mu Chen nodded gravely. "Yes, I am. I’m relieved you aren’t standing against me. Because if you were, I would have to kill you. Right here, right now."
Both Chu Aoqing and Mu Junwu were startled by Mu Chen’s words, but their expressions quickly returned to normal. They had listened to the entire exchange between Lei Yun’Er and Mu Chen as silent observers, never once interjecting. Even though the conversation touched upon Mu Chen’s private matters, neither Chu Aoqing nor Mu Junwu minded in the slightest. In their hearts, they already saw Mu Chen as their companion for life. This was true for Chu Aoqing, and as his official fiancée, Mu Junwu felt even less reason to be embarrassed.
Seeing Mu Chen’s serious expression, the corner of Lei Yun’Er’s mouth twitched. She could tell from his eyes that he was being dead serious. If they were on opposing sides, he really would kill them.
Quickly turning her head away, Lei Yun’Er said, "Can I ask you a question? I think I already know the answer, but I’d rather be certain."
"Go ahead," Mu Chen said with a smile. The coldness in his voice vanished, replaced by an indescribable warmth.
Lei Yun’Er bit her lip. "I want to know," she said, "is the part of the Furious Thunder Force you have the Instant Body Technique, the Attack Technique, or both?"
