Extreme Almightiest Young Master
Chapter 2785 - 2761: Invite Him In
Chapter 2785: Chapter 2761: Invite Him In
In this small city of Fengcheng, encountering ascenders is already quite strange, and the woman before him seemed to be doing quite well. He couldn’t understand why, nor how she had come from Holy City to this small city. Questions filled his mind.
Xing Meng naturally understood the implication in Lin Feng’s words. She then lifted her charming eyes to look at Lin Feng and said, "To tell the truth, when I first arrived at the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm, I was very miserable. But I was quite fortunate to meet a benefactor, my husband. Unfortunately, he passed away not long ago."
At this, her tears naturally began to fall. Not only did she think of her late husband, but also the hardships she faced at the beginning of her journey in the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm. Only she knew how difficult it had been to come this far.
Seeing Xing Meng like this, Lin Feng felt awkward about asking about her sad past, so he said, "Don’t be sad, what brings you to Fengcheng?"
"I met my husband in Holy City. We were very much in love and lived well. My husband’s family was quite wealthy, which is why I say I was fortunate. But good times didn’t last long. We were pursued by enemies, and my husband was killed protecting me. I dared not return to Holy City alone, so I settled in this small city. The wealth my husband left is enough for my cultivation," Xing Meng said, wiping her tears with a handkerchief, feeling pained whenever she thought of the past.
Hearing Xing Meng’s story, Lin Feng sighed deeply. He never expected to come across an ascender in Fengcheng. Then he asked, "Are there other ascenders in this town?"
He thought other ascenders might not be as fortunate as Xing Meng. Her beauty garnered sympathy, while others had to rely on their own efforts. He sensed Xing Meng’s strength had reached about the Middle Stage of the Myriad Laws Realm, which surprised him.
"Just me," Xing Meng replied. In truth, she wasn’t entirely sure, but she had been in Fengcheng for a while and had not encountered other ascenders.
Lin Feng nodded. He intended to gather all ascenders but was unsure if Xing Meng would join his Sect. After all, everyone has their own choices. Xing Meng was not lacking for anything and was cultivating well. If she was unwilling, he wouldn’t force her. Then he asked, "I’m establishing a Sect for ascenders. Would you like to join?"
"I can’t leave right now," Xing Meng replied, looking at Lin Feng.
"Why?" Lin Feng was puzzled as Xing Meng didn’t agree but also didn’t refuse, instead saying she couldn’t leave at the moment.
With a faint smile, Xing Meng said, "In a few days, my daughter’s wedding will take place."
Upon hearing this, Lin Feng was momentarily stunned, contemplating. This woman had ascended for many years. Though she looked very young, she was actually an old monster thousands of years old. How could she have a daughter, let alone one getting married?
Xing Meng saw Lin Feng standing there, looking serious, and guessed he might have misunderstood. Her race was different from ordinary people. How could she have a daughter? So she explained, "Oh, you’re overthinking it; she’s my adopted daughter."
Lin Feng finally understood and said to Xing Meng, "Then would it be alright if I joined the wedding?"
He thought there’s no rush to do anything else now, and he wanted to explore Fengcheng further to see if there were other ascenders.
"Of course, you’re very welcome," Xing Meng said with a smile. "Once the wedding is over, I’ll go with you to the Sect. Seven days later, just find me at the largest inn in Fengcheng."
She hadn’t expected Lin Feng to willingly attend her daughter’s wedding, which made her happy. With this completed, she would have no regrets and could return to the Sect with Lin Feng. In truth, she longed for a safe place to cultivate, and Lin Feng could provide such a place. The thought of being with other ascenders filled her heart with anticipation; at least she would no longer be alone.
"Alright," Lin Feng agreed immediately. After thinking it over, he asked, "Is there anything special in the town?"
Xing Meng pondered and said, "I’m not really sure. I usually stay at home to cultivate and don’t go out much."
Lin Feng nodded, then glanced at Tangyuan and Xiao Jiu, who were voraciously eating, and smiled wryly, feeling embarrassed as if they hadn’t eaten in ages. It would give others the impression he mistreated them.
"Sect Master Lin, I’ll take my leave now. See you in seven days," Xing Meng said, standing up, nodding to Lin Feng, and handed some Yuan Stones to the shop assistant before gracefully leaving the teahouse.
Watching Xing Meng’s departing figure, Lin Feng mused that this woman was certainly no ordinary character; perhaps she could be of help with the Sect matters in the future.
Faced with the remnants of the meal, Lin Feng asked Tangyuan and Xiao Jiu, "Are you full? If you are, let’s go."
Tangyuan and Xiao Jiu, still savoring the recent delicacies, didn’t expect the tea house snacks in this small city to taste so good. They happily left the teahouse with Lin Feng.
A man and two beasts wandered aimlessly around the city. At this time, Lin Feng had no particular goal, considering there was still a long time until the seven-day deadline. He wanted to find a quiet place to cultivate, and with this thought, the man and the two beasts headed out of the city.
But when they reached the edge of Fengcheng, Lin Feng saw a very peculiar large mansion. This mansion was extremely luxurious, built of unknown stone, emanating a faint green light. From afar, it looked like a building surrounded by greenery, and it was three stories high, making it particularly conspicuous at the edge of Fengcheng. Not only that, he also sensed a powerful formation aura. Although the formation was very subtle, he still managed to detect it.
Suddenly, Lin Feng soared into the air, flying to a height where he could overlook the entire mansion. As he expected, the entire mansion was enveloped by a powerful formation, its layers interwoven with a unique setup. He felt that the level of the person who had set up the formation was absolutely on par with his own.
With this realization, he became very curious, as there was actually such a deeply skilled formation master in this small city. Instantly intrigued, he flew to the mansion’s entrance and gently knocked on the door.
"Knock knock knock!"
Lin Feng gently knocked on the door. Shortly after, an elderly woman looking about seventy or eighty years old opened the door.
"Ma’am, is the master at home?" Lin Feng regarded the elderly woman’s simple attire, assuming she was the household servant, and politely inquired.
The elderly woman raised her eyes to look at Lin Feng, then glanced at Xiao Jiu and Tangyuan, and subsequently asked, "What is your business with our head of the house?"
She was quite puzzled, as she had never seen this young man before, and her master never interacted with outsiders. How could someone be visiting now?
Seeing the elderly woman’s guarded demeanor, Lin Feng faintly smiled and replied, "I noticed the unique formation at your residence and came specifically to seek guidance. I hope you will inform the master."
The moment Lin Feng finished speaking, a voice was heard from afar: "Invite him in."
Upon hearing this, the elderly woman opened the door, allowing Lin Feng, Tangyuan, and Xiao Jiu to enter the mansion.
Along the way, Lin Feng kept observing his surroundings. He discovered that the mansion was filled with formations everywhere; each courtyard area was protected by layer upon layer of formations. It appeared that the owner of the house was someone passionate about formations, using his home as an experimental ground, even setting up a faint barrier in the mansion’s airspace. Anyone attempting to breach this mansion would definitely face a challenge.
Before long, Lin Feng saw an elderly man clad in a brown brocade robe sitting in the main hall. He appeared to be no more than sixty years old, but was energetic and spirited, possessing an aura unlike any other.
"Please, have a seat." Yuan Su gestured for Lin Feng to sit down and instructed the elderly woman to bring tea.
Once seated, Lin Feng respectfully addressed the old man, "I am Lin Feng, and I was drawn here upon noticing your remarkable formations. I ventured forth hopefully, and I trust I am not disturbing you."
He carefully observed the old man, noting that the aura emanating from him was unlike anyone Lin Feng had ever seen before. Although his strength wasn’t formidable, Lin Feng thought that anyone who could arrange such formations must possess exceptional formation secrets and have an inhuman knack for formations.
Yuan Su listened to Lin Feng’s intentions and didn’t react, saying afterward, "It’s merely a personal hobby."
He didn’t understand what this young man intended to do. No one had ever visited his mansion before, and he was someone who ignored worldly affairs, focusing solely on formations. However, a trace of doubt arose in his mind, as there were basically no strong contenders in this Fengcheng capable of seeing through his formation. He wondered how this person could recognize his layered formations. Could he also be an array master?
But upon noticing Lin Feng’s age, he immediately dismissed this thought. Setting up formations requires not only talent but also years of insightful accumulation, and this young man couldn’t be older than his thirties. How could he possibly possess such advanced formation prowess? Yuan Su was already considered the youngest among formation masters.
Seeing Yuan Su’s attitude, Lin Feng realized he wasn’t particularly welcomed. This elder seemed to have an eccentric personality, likely seldom interacting with the outside world. Yet, having encountered such a skilled formation practitioner, he genuinely hoped to enlist the old man into his sect to manage the sect’s formation center.
Considering the many places within the sect requiring formations in the future, especially in case the sect ever contends with the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm, having an array master would be indispensable. He couldn’t always remain stationed at the sect, so having someone like this within the sect was nonetheless essential.
Looking at the elder before him, profound, stable, and transcendent, perfect for the role of an array master, Lin Feng truly desired a recluse master not affiliated with any faction. He wasn’t one for beating around the bush, so he straightforwardly proposed: "I wish to invite you to serve as the array master for my sect."
Upon hearing this, Yuan Su paused briefly, surprised by Lin Feng’s directness. However, he calmly smiled at Lin Feng and replied, "I’m afraid Young Master Lin will be disappointed. I do not serve any sect or faction. Young Master, please leave."
