Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch
Chapter 338: What Should I do?
"What should I do?"
Noah lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling as he thought about the danger that might be waiting ahead.
He had no solid evidence against Ken. The young man merely seemed suspicious because of the things he had done, particularly his strange interest in meeting the Elven Queen.
But could Noah actually confront him? Could he simply ask Ken whether he was a transmigrator?
There were too many possible outcomes.
Even if Noah confronted him and discovered that Ken really was a transmigrator with knowledge of the future, what were the chances that he would not be hostile?
What if Ken refused to cooperate with him? What if he saw Noah as a threat?
Worse, what if Ken deliberately fed him false information about the future and tried to manipulate him?
Noah himself was not a bad person, nor was he some ruthless villain.
However, he had read enough NovelPhoenixs to know that transmigrated protagonists were not always kind-hearted heroes.
Many of them were villains or antiheroes—people willing to do morally questionable things, betray others, or even sacrifice innocent people if it meant surviving or achieving their goals.
To be honest, as a reader, Noah actually preferred those kinds of protagonists over the typical righteous heroes.
Villains and antiheroes were simply more interesting.
But now that he was actually living inside a game world, he desperately hoped that if Ken really was a transmigrator, he wasn’t some cold-blooded bastard who viewed everyone around him as disposable pawns.
’What a mess... Guess villains are only cool in novels, not in real life. Shit.’
There was also another possibility. Ken might not be a transmigrator at all.
Noah could simply be misunderstanding everything.
And if that was the case, confronting Ken would make things even more awkward. Noah could always dismiss his suspicions afterward, but what if Ken also had his own reasons for hiding certain things?
There was another problem.
If Ken really was a transmigrator, there was a good chance he had already realized that the current Noah was not the same person as the Noah from the original story.
After all, Noah’s personality had changed far too much.
If Ken knew the original story, he would probably have noticed it.
Noah cursed his luck.
He had been thrown into this world without any knowledge of what happened after the game’s original storyline.
He had no idea what the future held. He had no guide. Once again he felt useless.
With a tired sigh, Noah shook his head. For now, there was no reason to burden himself with endless possibilities.
The only thing he could do was observe. He shouldn’t act recklessly and expose his suspicions without enough evidence.
’I’ll just keep watching Ken for now.’
With that decision made, Noah closed his eyes.
He decided to sleep.
---
Next day.
"Hello, Ken. We haven’t really talked much since the academy started."
Noah sat beside Ken during class while their instructor continued his lecture.
Today’s lesson was about monsters and beast-related knowledge.
Instructor Liam, an elderly man with a rather serious expression, stood at the front of the classroom. A large projection covered the wall behind him, displaying images of various Rank D and Rank C monsters while he explained their characteristics, habitats, and dangerous traits.
"Yeah. Hello."
Ken replied casually, his dark-gray eyes remaining fixed on the projection. He was surprisingly attentive. He didn’t even glance at Noah.
’This guy... is really focused on studying.’
Noah also turned his attention toward the lesson. After a few seconds, however, he leaned slightly toward Ken.
"By the way, are you excited about the field trip to the Elven Kingdom?"
That finally made Ken turn toward him.
’Yeah! You must know I’m a transmigrator! Come on, Ken! Reveal yourself! Say that you need to tell me something important!’
"Yes, actually. I’m quite excited."
Ken gave him a small smile. "I’ve never been there before, so I think it will be an amazing experience."
With that, he turned his attention back toward the projection.
Noah’s lips twitched.
’Fair enough.’
He had to admit, Ken’s response was perfectly normal. There was nothing suspicious about it.
Noah leaned back in his chair and continued watching the lesson.
His thoughts briefly wandered toward his own abilities.
His sword technique, especially the one he used with his katana, allowed him to unleash an almost instantaneous slash.
The technique involved drawing the blade from its sheath and returning it before most people could even see the movement.
It was incredibly cool.
Noah couldn’t help but feel a little proud whenever he thought about it. Then, after a moment, another thought crossed his mind.
"Hey..."
Noah glanced at Ken.
"I’ve mostly seen you together with Marina. Are you two dating or something?"
Ken stiffened. It was subtle, but Noah noticed it immediately. The tips of Ken’s ears turned slightly red, and he quickly looked at Noah.
"What are you saying?!"
His usually calm expression was replaced by clear embarrassment. "We’re just good friends! There’s nothing between us!"
His voice rose slightly as he defended himself.
Noah raised an eyebrow. ’Oh? Interesting.’
Before he could ask anything else.
"YOU TWO! STAND UP!"
Both Noah and Ken flinched. They immediately stood from their seats. Instructor Liam glared at them from the front of the classroom, his expression darkening.
"You two dare to chat during my class?!"
He slammed his hand against the desk.
"Now tell me! What was the sentence I spoke immediately before I caught you two talking?"
Silence.
Noah and Ken looked at each other. Neither of them had the slightest idea.
"..."
"..."
Instructor Liam’s face twitched. "You weren’t listening?!"
He immediately launched into another furious lecture.
Meanwhile, Leonard, Damien, and Arisha watched the scene from their seats. Leonard was trying not to laugh.
Damien openly grinned. Even Arisha had a faint smile on her face as she watched Noah and Ken suffer under Instructor Liam’s wrath.
Noah could only sigh inwardly.
’Well... at least I learned one thing. Ken definitely doesn’t like being teased about Marina.’
But whether that meant anything more remained unknown.
