Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch
Chapter 327: Browsing Information [1]
"Well, let’s meet again later. I’m exhausted and need to get some rest."
Ken’s voice reached Noah from the other side of the wall.
’They’re leaving!’
Noah immediately stopped listening. He didn’t want to risk being discovered.
"Yes, of course. Let’s go."
The two of them began walking.
Noah carefully slipped away from the area.
He moved through the bushes without making a sound and only relaxed once he had reached a considerable distance from the dormitory.
He finally let out a quiet breath.
"Okay..."
Noah rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Ken is definitely hiding something."
He hadn’t known Ken particularly well before, but what he had witnessed today was enough to make him suspicious.
Ken had secretly met Marina behind the dormitory, handed her an extremely rare potion, and in exchange, asked her to arrange a meeting with the Elven Queen.
And whatever he wanted to discuss with the queen was apparently so important that he wasn’t even willing to tell Marina about it.
Noah thought about it for a moment.
’He gave Marina that Everbloom Draught...’
His eyes narrowed.
’What exactly does that potion do?’
If it was valuable enough for Ken to go through considerable trouble to obtain it during his vacation, there had to be more to it.
’I should find out.’
Noah decided to return to his dormitory.
’I can search for information about it on the internet. There should be something about a potion that rare.’
Back inside his dormitory, Noah lay comfortably on his bed with his phone in hand.
Nancy was curled up beside him, peacefully sleeping.
Noah, however, was far too curious to rest. He opened his browser and began searching. He was lucky that the information about this potion existed there, not hidden like some ancient treasure.
"Everbloom Draught..."
He scrolled through one page after another.
The potion was more known to world that he thought. No wonder it’s information existed online.
There were articles about rare potions, alchemical records, medical references, historical documents, and discussions written by adventurers and scholars.
Noah continued reading.
"Hmm..."
His expression gradually became more serious.
"It’s really rare..."
According to several sources, the Everbloom Draught was an exceptionally difficult potion to produce. Even among high-level healing potions, it was considered a precious item because of the number of severe conditions it could treat.
Noah continued scrolling.
"It can cure several dangerous diseases..."
He paused.
"But which one is considered the most dangerous?"
His eyes moved down the page. Then he stopped. "Bloodmoon Rot..."
The name immediately caught his attention.
Noah clicked on the article and began reading carefully.
Bloodmoon Rot was one of the rarest blood-related disease that gradually corrupted the victim’s bloodstream.
As the disease progressed, crimson-colored veins would begin spreading across the victim’s body. The victim would experience an intense and unnatural thirst, recurring high fever, severe weakness, and eventually the failure of vital organs.
Ordinary medicine and conventional antidotes were completely ineffective against it.
Once the disease reached an advanced stage, death was almost inevitable.
Then Noah noticed the treatment.
Treatment: Everbloom Draught
The potion could completely purify the corrupted blood and eliminate the disease from the victim’s body.
Noah’s eyes narrowed.
"This is..."
He continued reading.
Then he reached the section describing the origin of the disease.
Known Cause: Vampires.
According to historical and medical records, certain highborn vampires from House Bloodwyn possessed a rare ability to infect their enemies with Bloodmoon Rot. Rather than killing their victims immediately, they could cause their blood to slowly deteriorate, allowing the disease to consume the victim over time.
Noah stared at the screen.
His expression slowly changed.
’Vampires...’
That single word caught his attention far more than anything else on the page.
’If Marina’s sister has this disease...’
His thoughts began connecting the pieces.
’That would mean she was infected by a highborn vampire.’
Noah frowned.
’But that doesn’t make sense.’
Vampires had been extinct for a century. At least, that was what history claimed.
Noah changed the tab of his browser and search for history about vampires. He does know few things from old Noah’s memory. Still he decided to read it again.
The Kingdom of Vespermark had once existed on an island near the Demon Continent.
It had been a small kingdom compared to the major human and elven nations, but the vampires who lived there were notoriously powerful.
Their natural regenerative abilities were extraordinary, and consuming blood allowed them to recover from injuries at an astonishing rate.
Even among supernatural races, vampires were feared for their physical resilience.
But their relationship with humanity and the elves had always been hostile.
Vampires particularly favored the blood of humans and elves, with the blood of high elves being considered especially valuable.
That hostility eventually led to a devastating war.
Humanity and the Elven Kingdom eventually joined forces against Vespermark.
The vampire kingdom was simply too small to withstand two major powers attacking it simultaneously.
Noah continued reading historical records about the conflict.
The war had ended with the complete destruction of Vespermark. The vampires had been hunted down and exterminated. Be it women, children or old people.
According to the historical records, neither side had shown mercy.
Noah’s fingers slowly tightened around his phone.
’They really wiped out the entire race...’
He imagined what that must have looked like.
An entire kingdom surrounded by two powerful nations. There was no realistic way for a small island kingdom to survive such an attack.
It wasn’t really a war anymore. It had become a complete defeat followed by the destruction of an entire people.
A shiver ran down Noah’s spine.
"That’s... brutal."
’There has to be more to this history.’
Noah leaned back against the headboard.
’If vampires really went extinct nearly a hundred years ago, then how could Bloodmoon Rot still be appearing? Maybe Marina’s sister wasn’t suffering from Bloodmoon Rot at all or maybe some vampires from House Bloodwyn had survived.’
Noah’s eyes narrowed.
’If even one highborn vampire survived the destruction of Vespermark, then this changes everything.’
He immediately shook his head.
"Don’t jump to conclusions."
He reminded himself.
’I don’t even know if Marina’s sister has Bloodmoon Rot.’
For all he knew, her illness could be completely unrelated.
Still, the coincidence was too strange to ignore.
Ken had gone through great trouble to obtain an Everbloom Draught.
Marina had said the potion could allow her sister to run around again.
Noah stared at the ceiling.
"There’s definitely something going on. Let’s see where this potion could be found."
He went back to tab of potion’s information. "The fuck!!" He couldn’t help but curse after reading more information.
It was written that to make Everbloom Draught potion it needs blood of a highborn vampire who posses that ability to spread disease. It is essential ingredient.
Because of this in current time if there exist this potions in world, then they were extremely rare, biggest chance to found them were within dungeons made by vampires.
