"Why did you do that?" Black Rose asked in a cold tone.

"Do what?" Kaelen asked with a raised brow.

"I never asked for your help."

"Don’t get me wrong. If you hadn’t third-wheeled on my appointment with Cindra, then none of this would be happening right now.

"I have no business with you. So if you’re gonna act all tough and ungrateful, then by all means, feel free to get out of the car, and I’ll find Cindra and leave. As an SSS-ranker, I’m sure you can also cut through the crowd with a blade of grass like tofu, huh?" Kaelen said bluntly without batting an eyelid.

The cyan-haired woman was completely stunned by Kaelen’s words and simply stared at him, unable to find her voice to refute his claim.

She had become accustomed to people respecting and kissing up to her boots, even though it annoyed her, so meeting someone who genuinely didn’t care about her status or identity left her momentarily speechless.

"Put on your seatbelt," Kaelen said as he strapped his on, and without waiting for her to comply, he made the car roar ferociously, startling the reporters surrounding them, before he stepped on the gas, and they quickly began jumping out of the way.

Kaelen glanced to the side to see that Black Rose had strapped her seatbelt on.

"Do you know where we’re going?"

She remained silent for a moment, like she was contemplating giving him a reply.

"Yeah."

"Good, cause I don’t. I’m sure you don’t want to spend another minute in this car with me, so I’ll be needing you to take the lead real quick."

On hearing his words, she looked like she wanted to say something, but deliberately let it die in her throat as she stole a glance at him.

"Take the left turn."

In a few minutes, a red Koenigsegg pulled up beside a burgundy Porsche, in front of an affluent establishment.

Cindra immediately jumped out of her car and rushed towards Black Rose as she stepped out of the passenger seat.

"Rose, are you okay?"

Kaelen stepped out of the car as well and stared towards the real estate company building.

"Oh my God. Why didn’t you tell me you drive a fucking Koenigsegg?" Cindra exclaimed after making sure her friend was in the right state of mind.

"You never asked. Can we get this done already?" he said impatiently as he stared at his wristwatch.

"Sure. Let’s go—"

"I recommend giving your friend your keys to drive home safely, so we don’t get into a similar situation later," Kaelen suggested.

Cindra quickly hugged her friend’s arm. "We’ll be careful this time. You don’t have to worry—" she was saying, when Black Rose shook her arm free and held out her palm for the key.

"He’s right. If you hadn’t insisted I ’touch some grass,’ none of it would have happened."

Cindra sighed in defeat and handed over her car keys. "I’m sorry~"

"It’s fine." Black Rose had just spoken, but Kaelen was already moving towards the building.

She hesitated for a moment before she made up her mind.

"Idris?"

But the man simply ignored her as though he hadn’t heard his name and kept walking forward.

"Is he ignoring me now?" she mused to herself in a conflict of emotions as she watched his back disappear into the building with Cindra in tow.

’I was just about to thank him for today... I guess he doesn’t deserve it,’ she thought and brushed it off like it was nothing. But she couldn’t refute the fact that being ignored stung harder than she expected.

She jumped into the Porsche and sat there for a moment, the events of that day’s ordeal replaying in her mind. She was angry at freezing on the spot and having the painful flashbacks that chased her away from Stronghold One.

At that moment, her eyes caught a virtual screen replaying the same events, but focused on a particular clip where a man covered her face with his jacket and pulled her away into his car, with the headline speculating that he was her boyfriend.

She stared at it for a moment, her anger vanishing the next moment, before she scoffed in disdain.

"My boyfriend? He wishes." But remembering how she was called out earlier, and now ignored, her temper flared.

"He’s not my type, and I’m not his type either. Case dismissed."

"..."

"Idris Thomas..." she mumbled to herself as she stepped on the gas and recklessly pulled out of the driveway, almost colliding with another car, but completely ignoring it and speeding onto the highway.

Kaelen, on the other hand, had already forgotten about the fake name he’d given the cyan-haired woman, and naturally didn’t hear when she called him.

He stepped through the doors of the estate firm, and thanks to Cindra’s presence, they were led straight to a private room where they sat with the managing director of the establishment and were offered expensive tea.

"It’s great to see you again, Cindra. But don’t tell me you’re here to buy another house. It’s been barely two weeks." The manager said with such familiarity that it told Kaelen the guild captain frequented the establishment.

"I wish, but I’m broke at the moment. Which is why I’ve brought this loaded customer for a handsome commission." Cindra said with a mischievous wink that made the manager shift uncomfortably in his seat.

The manager laughed awkwardly, but for some reason, Kaelen could see pity in his eyes as he glanced at him.

The manager turned his focus to Kaelen. "What type of house would you be looking to buy, and what’s your budget?"

Kaelen raised two fingers. "It can only be a mansion or a penthouse in a serene environment. I don’t have a budget. I’ll decide what to buy when I see what I like."

"O-hoo~" Cindra exclaimed dramatically and rubbed his arm teasingly.

The manager nodded, and he took out a tablet like he was already prepared for the meeting.

"Here’s a few mansions and penthouses we have in our possession, with prices ranging from fifty million dollars to a little over five hundred million dollars."

Kaelen was impressed and immediately began sorting through the list for the most expensive properties with the largest compounds to ensure maximum privacy.

He dropped the idea of a penthouse after seeing the mansions available for sale, and at some point found it hard to choose which mansion he liked better.

He could always buy two, but unlike designer clothes, he couldn’t possibly live in two places at once. So he dropped the idea and picked the best one, in his opinion.

"You can pay an upfront fee to inspect the houses before you decide—"

"I’ll take this one," Kaelen cut him off. "I’d like to make the full payment now."

"That’s a great house, sir. You have a keen eye for properties. That mansion costs a hundred and twenty million dollars. As for how to make the payment..." The manager coughed. "You make the direct payment to the owner of the house, and we’ll get our commission from her."

Kaelen was confused, but before he could ask, he turned to see Cindra staring at him with wide eyes.

"Cash or transfer?" she asked with a grin that reached her ears.
