Chapter 187: Chapter 187: Rising Points [@Thomasinho Golden Ticket Bonus Chapter]
Inside the private viewing chamber, where the heads and highest-ranking members of all the households of Winterfang were gathered, the excitement and tension rose even higher.
Most of the household high-ranking people stared at the screen, visibly shaken by the speed and decisiveness of the kill they had just witnessed.
Valeriana maintained a casual posture and expression, but if anyone looked closely at her eyes, the intensity there was impossible to miss.
Vespera had a small smile on her face.
"This is it! I am betting all of my remaining money on him!" Velen suddenly stood up and declared it with full volume.
Ella looked at him sharply.
"Didn’t you promise me that you wouldn’t gamble all of your money ever again?"
"That was in the past when I was young, I didn’t have any experience during those days, now I am an improved man!" Velen said it proudly, chest out, as if the statement alone proved his growth.
"I mean, he has her blood running in him, there is no way he is going to be eliminated, and currently he is in first place! Just imagine the money we could win!!!" His voice kept rising higher and higher as he already started dreaming about what he could buy with the winnings.
The volume was enough to distract several people who were trying to focus on the screen.
Ella did not really want to agree.
Velen had a long history of losing everything he owned through betting or gambling.
But he was also right about one thing.
With everything the Third Prince had shown so far, he could actually win the Proving.
"Hey Ella, didn’t you say you wanted that land near the riverfront? But they were asking for crazy prices, so if we win this we could take the whole damn area, not just a small piece of land!" Velen used the best argument he could think of in the moment.
"You..." Ella’s mouth twitched.
He was bringing that topic up right now in front of so many people.
She really wanted to teach him a lesson on the spot, but she controlled herself with visible effort and pulled him closer.
"One. Do what you want, but you will not lose all of the money."
"Two. You will shut your mouth right this instant."
"If you don’t follow, I swear even brother won’t be able to stop me right now..." She muttered the words coldly enough that only Velen could hear the full threat.
"Ahem..." Alessio cleared his throat with deliberate volume so the two of them would quiet down.
He truly did not want to deal with another headache in the middle of everything else happening on the feeds.
"Alright, alright, don’t get all serious and stuff, Ella..." Velen muttered wearily and finally sat back down, though the calculating look in his eyes had not fully disappeared.
Alex opened the [ => Live Points Rankings ] to check how many more points he had gained from the tiger.

"So I got above a thousand points from killing this one." Alex muttered as he watched the ranking update in real time.
His total had climbed from 12,700 to 13,800.
The single Level 12 tiger had been worth more than a thousand points on its own.
His eyes then moved to the name sitting directly behind him.
Kerin Vectorian’s total was still climbing, now at 11,700.
"I need to keep increasing the distance between him and me, let’s move."
Alex was already analyzing what level or stage of creature would give him the most efficient return.
"This creature was Level 12, probably in the High Awaken range, it gave around a thousand."
"Something lower than Level 10 would probably give me far less and a creature in the Peak Awaken rank like the spider before..."
He paused for a moment as he continued walking.
"...well, while I would like to fight those, I don’t think it would be a good idea right now."
"It takes too much time and killing the ones in the Early to High Awaken ranks is the fastest and safest method for me to keep increasing my points at the moment." These were still assumptions and he would only be able to confirm them properly once he had killed at least one creature from each of the three stages and compared the point returns directly.
Alex also wanted to see how many points he could gain from eliminating other participants.
"I think eliminating other participants might be the best method overall, but I would need to find them first."
"It seems that most of the others have already fled this area, or those who were here were probably eliminated either by that tiger or by me and the spider in the other part of the city." He prepared to move deeper into the quieter ruins while keeping the Eye of Flesh active.
The sharpened senses continued to feed him the flow of mana in everything within a few meters. Living or lifeless, the currents remained clear.
Even so, he still felt a slight lingering sensation of someone or something being nearby.
He could no longer lock onto it clearly.
The trace was too faint, almost as if whatever had been there had already withdrawn beyond the edge of his current perception range.
The Eye of Flesh made the absence itself noticeable.
Something had been close enough to register, and then it had slipped away before he could identify it.
Alex slowed for a few steps and swept his senses across the nearby ruins one more time.
Nothing solid remained, only the quiet, natural currents of mana in the old stone.
