Chapter 202: It’s Time

This didn’t mean that the Beast Emperor was going to give up, though. It turned around and exchanged a brief glance with Liora, and after it got her nod of approval, it smiled cruelly.

Then, it shot forward and streaked through the sky, flying towards the capital.

Since the Founding Emperor was not going to come out, it would play with its subordinates first.

If it had a chance, it would kill this man and wait to see the Founding Emperor’s powerless expression.

Imagining this scene, the Beast Emperor couldn’t help but let out an eerie chuckle.

When Liora glanced at the Beast Emperor and saw its creepy expression, she began to wonder if it was truly a smart idea to ally with it.

But considering that things had come to this point, she shook her head and pushed that thought aside.

Her focus shifted back to reality.

With the Beast Emperor’s departure, she was the only one standing above the Ancient Beast Wilderness.

From such a height, she had a panoramic view of the war between humans and the beasts and could act as she wished.

As long as she wanted to, Liora could do the same as the Beast Emperor and try to kill these King of Knights humans.

But given her temperament and the lack of benefit, she would, of course, not choose to do so.

“But for the Beast Emperor, the death of the beasts under his command, especially the strong ones, is a massive blow.”, Liora pondered, and unbeknownst to anyone, strands of demonic energy shot out of her body.

They transformed into invisible threads that wrapped around the strongest beasts, stunning them for just a brief second. But this time was enough.

Though the Kings of Knights could not understand what was going on, they took the opportunity to slaughter these helpless beasts.

A smile appeared on Liora’s face as she watched this happen.

Secretly, she waved her hand, and the souls of the fallen gathered in her palm before flowing into her body and transforming into Evolution Points.

“That’s good! That’s good! Go on! Kill each other! Fight!”, she shouted inwardly, watching the points on the System Panel skyrocket with a happy smile.

She felt that no matter what happened later and whether they won or not, just the Evolution Points she had accumulated here were enough to make everything worth it.

“Of course, it would be better if things advanced in a good direction.”

The moment that thought arose, Liora’s body shuddered.

Countless overlapping murmurings rang directly within her ears and reached her soul, warning her of the incoming danger.

Instinctively, she kicked her feet against the air, pushing herself backwards.

The next second, the reason why her intuition warned her became apparent.

A translucent figure adorned in a dark cloak appeared beside her, and the dark dagger in its hand struck the position where she had just stood.

Many writhing lines squirmed on the blade’s sharp edge, as if there were living snakes embedded within it.

Clearly, this was not an ordinary dagger, but a supreme weapon similar to the Blessed Weapons created by the Holy Church.

Fortunately, Liora’s reaction was quick. Otherwise, even with her extraordinary defense, such an unexpected attack would have severely injured her.

“The methods of the Necronomicon Sect…”

Though this cloaked person only attacked once and did not show their face, the familiar assassination methods used by them caught Liora’s attention.

Having interrogated Diana and having been assassinated using such methods before, she immediately recognized them.

The identity of the person in front of her was obvious. It was the Cult Leader of the Necronomicon Sect, a person even more infamous than the Pope of the Holy Church.

Immediately, countless thoughts raced through Liora’s mind.

“If the interference of the Holy Church can be explained, then the interference of the Necronomicon Sect is truly unexpected.”, she thought, and her suspicions that there was something wrong grew stronger.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have the time to ponder this for long. The Cult Leader would not give her the chance to think.

Remaining silent just like the Pope had done before him, the Cult Leader adjusted his body and slashed at Liora once again.

His movements were quick, precise, and contained boundless murderous intent.

Any other King of Knights would have been stunned by his momentum and would have been rendered unable to fend off his attacks.

But Liora was not an ordinary King of Knights.

Facing the dagger coming in her direction, she didn’t choose to parry.

Instead, her mind moved, and a pair of shadowy wings appeared behind her back, which flapped twice and pushed her forward.

Despite the urgency, her movements were elegant, and she succeeded in evading the attack.

Seeing the dagger pass a few centimeters away from her chest, Liora decided to no longer stay in the sky.

With her opponent’s mobility and ruthless methods, such an environment did more harm than good to her.

After she cast a final glance at the battlefield below and collected a last batch of sweet-looking souls, Liora rushed towards the Ancient Beast Wilderness.

The Cult Leader only paused for a brief moment before following her footsteps.

Liora did not flee for long.

Less than a minute later, the wings behind her back flapped for the last time, pushing her towards the ground.

With a bang, her figure landed on the earth like a falling meteor.

Immediately, her mind moved, and a sword of darkness materialized in her hand as she readied to meet the next attack.

She believed that the Cult Leader would not miss such a great opportunity to strike at her apparent display of weakness.

However, the Cult Leader’s actions went beyond common sense.

He didn’t attack or remain floating in the sky, but rather landed on the ground not far away from her.

The dagger in his hand vanished, and he lifted his head, revealing the silver mask hidden beneath the dark hood.

“It’s finally time…”
