Chapter 67: So I Can Lie Now?

  • Next Chapter

Long Feng froze. His body stiffened slightly. As he slowly turned his head to look behind and find two more people sitting behind him.

He hadn’t sensed either of them, not even the slightest trace.

’What the hell?

Do old people who live for too long develop a habit of suddenly appearing behind young people just to scare them?’

He desperately wanted to complain, but his face remained completely calm.

These people were clearly existences he couldn’t afford to offend.

"Greetings, Elders." Long Feng immediately cupped his fists again.

His gaze briefly passed over the two men. One was extremely old. His face was covered in wrinkles, and his white hair was sparse, making him look as though he had lived for countless years. Yet there was something strangely peaceful about him.

The other was completely different. He was a middle-aged man with a robust physique.

His broad shoulders and muscular body made him look more like a battle-hardened warrior than an elder of the sect.

However, the invisible pressure coming from his body was far more frightening than his appearance suggested.

"You have some courage." The middle-aged man’s eyes narrowed as he snorted. His voice suddenly became cold.

"Enough with the nonsense. How dare you spread lies within the sect while being an inner disciple?"

Long Feng’s expression changed slightly. At the same time, an invisible pressure descended upon him.

Boom!

His body felt as though an enormous mountain had suddenly been placed on his shoulders.

It was a pressure similar to the one the red-robed elder had released before. It was clearly meant to scare him into telling the truth so he couldn’t lie.

But then, he felt something, that he couldn’t felt.

The nervousness he had experienced before was gone. The feeling of being unable to lie under the elder’s pressure, it had completely disappeared.

This made him stunned.

If he was feeling it, why wasn’t it working? Was this old man just acting tough but actually turned out to be a weakling?

’Could it be...’

His thoughts immediately turned toward the Myriad Illusion Demon Emperor’s Will. A surge of happiness flashed through his heart.

’System, you aren’t completely useless after all.’

Of course, he didn’t allow any of that happiness to appear on his face. Instead, he deliberately lowered his head and put on a slightly frightened expression.

"Elder... this disciple wasn’t lying."

The middle-aged man’s expression became even colder.

"You dare say that?"

"I... I truly didn’t lie about anything." Long Feng swallowed nervously.

The middle-aged man’s eyes remained fixed on him. The pressure increased slightly, yet Long Feng remained perfectly calm inside and continued acting.

The middle-aged man’s expression gradually became more displeased. But just as he was about to speak, the extremely old man sitting quietly on the side suddenly raised his hand.

"That’s enough, Elder Tianshan."

His voice was calm, but contained a strange pressure. "At least look at his condition first."

The moment those words fell, the pressure surrounding Long Feng disappeared. Elder Tianshan snorted displeased but didn’t continue.

With their cultivation, they could clearly see through this kid’s physical condition. Although he looked almost fine on the outside, his internal injuries were still considerable.

Several bones were cracked, his internal organs had suffered damage. His meridians were also not in perfect condition.

Putting pressure on him like this in this situation does not suit their position.

But this allowed Long Feng to understand something as well. His gaze unconsciously fell upon the extremely old man.

This frail looking old geezer seems to be the highest authority here.

Even Elder Tianshan, who clearly possessed terrifying cultivation, had immediately stopped when this old man spoke. The red-robed elder also remained silent.

The old man looked at Long Feng, before pointed his one finger towards him.

The next moment, a pale-green flame suddenly appeared above his finger. Then he casually waved his hand and pale-green flame flew toward Long Feng.

Before Long Feng could process anything, the flame entered in his body.

’You walk into my room, fine. You grab me without asking, fine. But this is my body, at least spare me this.’

He wanted to curse, but didn’t dare. Surviving this fire was still possible, but if he muttered anything offensive to these elders, they would wipe the floor with him right then and there.

But instead of the burning sensation he expected, a warm sensation spread throughout his entire body.

Long Feng’s pupils contracted. The flame didn’t contain any scorching heat. Instead, it radiated an astonishing vitality.

It was as though countless streams of life force were flowing through his flesh and bones.

His cracked bones rapidly repaired themselves. His damaged organs recovered. His meridians were nourished. Even the hidden injuries deep within his body began disappearing at an incredible speed.

Long Feng’s eyes widened.

What kind of healing technique is this?

He could clearly feel the astonishing vitality contained within that flame. In merely a few breaths, all of his injuries disappeared.

Not only that, his body felt even better than before the battle. There wasn’t even a trace of the previous damage.

Long Feng was stunned. He looked at his own hands, then at the old man.

For perhaps the first time since arriving in this world, he was genuinely speechless. Is this something a normal human being could do?

He stared at him, feeling a sudden wave of guilt.

This old man! God knows how many motherfucking curses he had thrown his way, but he turned out a total saint.

The old man noticed his reaction. A faint trace of approval appeared in his eyes.

"Your composure isn’t bad."

Long Feng immediately came back to his senses. He respectfully cupped his fists.

"Thank you, Elder."

The old man nodded but his expression became serious. "Now, tell us what happened in the back mountains."

Long Feng’s eyes flickered.

This time, he didn’t feel the slightest nervousness. The Myriad Illusion Demon Emperor’s Will had already merged into his Soul Dominating Mark.

The pressure that had once prevented him from lying was no longer a problem.

Since you want to know...

A sincere and fearful expression appeared on Long Feng’s face.

"Elders, everything began when Ye Wuxie attacked my friend in the back mountains."

He lowered his head slightly.

"Ye Wuxie has always been ruthless. Before this incident, I already suspected that something was wrong with him because of several strange things that had happened around him."

He carefully mixed truth with lies.

"He killed my friend and several others who happened to be there."

Long Feng’s expression became solemn.

"When I arrived, I tried to stop him. But I never expected that his strength would be so terrifying."

The three elders listened silently.

"Although he was only at the sixth level of the True Spirit Realm, his combat experience was completely unlike that of a young cultivator."

Long Feng deliberately emphasized this point.

"He fought as though he had experienced countless battles. He also possessed techniques I had never seen before."

"His control over spiritual energy was extremely precise, and his reactions were far beyond what someone of his age should possess."

Long Feng continued calmly. "He even used a strange power that gave me a feeling of absolute helplessness."

He paused. "At that moment, I genuinely thought I was going to die."

His voice trembled slightly. The acting was flawless. But he wasn’t going to get an award for it anyway.

"He was simply too strong."

Long Feng continued describing the battle, carefully twisting truths and adding details that supported his conclusion.

He didn’t directly say that Ye Wuxie was a reincarnated expert, actually, he didn’t need to.

He merely placed the evidence in front of them.

If you already suspect something is wrong with him... I’ll just give you more reasons to suspect him.

When Long Feng finally finished speaking, the hall fell silent. The three elders stared at him in both surprise and some kind of conclusion.

After several breaths, the red-robed elder finally spoke. He looked toward the extremely old man.

"Grand Elder." I believe that boy, Ye Wuxie, truly has a problem."

His expression became solemn. "We cannot leave such a dangerous existence inside the sect."

Elder Tianshan immediately frowned.

"Impossible."

He looked toward the red-robed elder.

"Ye Wuxie has already been tested by the Azure Sky Pillar. How could the pillar fail to detect something like this?"

The red-robed elder sighed.

"Elder Tianshan, the evidence is already standing before you."

He gestured toward Long Feng. "Perhaps your precious Azure Sky Pillar has developed a defect."

The expression of Elder Tianshan instantly changed. He shot to his feet. His voice thundered through the hall.

"Elder Zixia! How dare you defile the credibility of our Azure Sky Pillar?!"

But Elder Zixia remained seated.

"Don’t be so serious. I merely offered a possibility."

"Possibility?"

Elder Tianshan’s face darkened.

"You know very well that the Azure Sky Pillar has existed for countless years! It has done way more for this sect than you ever have, so watch your mouth!"

Long Feng quietly stood to the side. His eyes flickered. So that was the reason why these elders still not acted against Ye Wuxie.

Ye Wuxie had already been tested by the pillar. And the pillar hadn’t detected anything abnormal, that shows he had no abnormality.

Long Feng’s mind quickly turned.

That pillar isn’t simply measuring cultivation talent. It seemed to be examining something deeper, perhaps even the disciple himself.

That meant the Inner Disciple Ranking Tournament held every three years wasn’t merely a competition to determine rankings.

It was also an opportunity for the sect to examine its disciples.

What a clever move!
