Chapter 2669 1467: A Thorn-Filled Path Forward (Part 2)
Upon hearing the voice, the blood-red glow in the eye sockets of the Witch Demon Leader brightened, and he exclaimed with overjoyed delight, “Understood, I shall retreat to the area where the master resides immediately!”
After speaking, the Witch Demon Leader led the remaining witch demons to burst out swiftly, disappearing quickly into the depths of the Forest White Giant City.
Rustling sounds.
At the same time as the witch demons departed, that cracked Absolute Defense Barrier also shattered, transforming into countless magical fragments suspended in midair, finally dissipating into the pervasive black fog.
“We have succeeded!”
Beneath the towering city walls, upon witnessing the successful breach of the opponent’s Absolute Defense Barrier, cheers and excitement erupted from the Human Clan’s camp.
Under the command of Loris, the assaulting generals were already prepared to scale the walls, with magical bridges extending successfully to the white giant city head.
Yet, just as Leo Ray directed our generals to advance, the tightly shut skeletal city gate suddenly began to open slowly.
Subsequently, a group of elites from the Broken Valley Alliance emerged from the gate, quickly merging with the elites in our camp.
“Your Majesty of the Humans, the witch demons originally guarding inside the city walls have retreated into the depths of the city, allowing the gate to open without obstruction.”
After some exchange, a burly commander from the Broken Valley Alliance saluted Leo Ray with a hand to his chest and reported, “Much strength to the generals.”
Leo Ray nodded to the commander, then spoke to Loris, Sina, and others, “Since the road ahead is unobstructed, let us set off.”
After saying this, Leo Ray led the vanguard into the city at full speed, followed closely by Loris, Sina, and others without hesitation.
At this moment, though everyone understood that the Witch Demon’s actions likely harbored other intentions, they had to proceed nonetheless; even if the road ahead was filled with thorns, advancing was the only path.
In the blink of an eye, Leo Ray charged through the city gate under the guidance of the Broken Valley Alliance elites.
However, as Leo Ray stepped into the city’s territory, a wave of astonishment appeared on his face, which was mirrored by Loris, Sina, and others who followed, all wide-eyed.
The scene within the city was evidently beyond what anyone had anticipated.
There was no pervasive black fog, as if an invisible barrier separated the city’s interior from the fog outside, providing a remarkably clear view.
At a glance, everywhere was filled with densely packed skeletal remains and crimson rivers, along with numerous strange, white edifices, coupled with a gloomy, heavy atmosphere, reminiscent of purgatory.
This was not the most significant, even more surprising to Leo Ray and his companions was that, although the view was wide, it seemed endless, with a central black mist pillar reaching the sky, much farther than seen from the outside.
Even the city walls behind appeared taller and extended much longer, incomparable to the sight seen from outside.
All in all, the scene viewed outside the city was evidently disproportionate to the reality inside, like entering an entirely new space.
“Have we arrived at a Barrier Area?”
Loris’s lion eyes widened as he frowned tightly.
“It’s not a Barrier Area, it must be a form of Space Folding.”
Sina pondered for a moment and nodded thoughtfully, “The opponent likely folded the space inside the city and then constructed the external walls; thus, the inner space is substantially larger than it appears from outside.”
“It’s not merely larger, it’s more like tens of times bigger.”
Old Susan’s face was full of bewilderment and wondered aloud, “But why would the opponent do this?”
Just as Old Susan finished speaking, a scream suddenly erupted from our flank.
Everyone was startled and immediately looked towards the sound, seeing a pile of dismembered limbs suspended in midair, most of them belonging to horses, presenting a shocking sight.
“Leader, Your Majesty of the Humans, it’s a Magic Trap!”
Rapid hoofbeats sounded as Thomas approached with a serious expression and said gravely, “My subordinates wanted to explore further and ended up like this!”
“Nobody make reckless moves!”
Leo Ray waved his hand, furrowing his brows tightly.
Before entering the gate, we had meticulously scanned the surrounding area for magic traps but found nothing.
Now, amidst supposed safety, a trap had been sprung, sending chills down one’s spine.
“Your Majesty of the Humans, this is no ordinary magic trap but a kind of spatial trap, which normal detection methods fail to uncover.”
Sina also furrowed her brows and told Leo Ray, “It seems after the witch demons left, the spatial traps here were fully activated.”
“Could it be due to the abundance of spatial traps that the area is so vast?”
Old Susan, appearing enlightened, exclaimed.
As Old Susan finished, everyone in our camp suddenly understood.
Increasing the area several dozen times inevitably means that our difficulty in penetrating the enemy’s core has increased similarly!
“Gather all space series elites here, they are likely the only ones who can break the spatial traps.”
Without hesitation, Leo Ray commanded.
Shortly after Leo Ray’s order, a total of five Tier 6 spatial elites and over fifty Tier 5 spatial elites appeared before Leo Ray, including members of the Broken Valley Alliance.
Though our lineup was quite impressive, space series elites are extraordinarily rare, representing all our strength; Jasper Richardson, accompanying Leo Ray, is presently advancing in rank and had to be absent.
“Your Majesty of the Humans, we have just examined carefully; this is indeed a space series magic trap and it is exceedingly advanced.”
A young water elf elite, who looked somewhat like Old Susan, stepped forward and reported to Leo Ray, “Such an advanced space magic trap and extensive magic folding would only be achievable by a Demigod Level strength.”
Earlier, Leo Ray learned this young water elf elite was Old Susan’s sister named Ellie, also the Grand Elder of the water elf race, with strength at Sixth Rank Four Stars.
Upon Ellie’s words, another stir emerged among the elites surrounding us.
In other words, there is indeed an elite above the Seventh Stage present here, an awe-inspiring existence, confirming Your Majesty of the Humans’ speculation that demons might truly lurk here.
“Elder Ellie, can anyone detect these magic traps?”
Leo Ray gathered himself and further inquired.
“With my own strength, I cannot, but if everyone present works together, we might try.”
Ellie pondered momentarily and nodded to Leo Ray.
“Understood, then please lead the way, Elder. The opponent has set up these magic traps, indicating they lack the confidence to defeat us directly.”
Leo Ray nodded slightly and simultaneously encouraged everyone.
“As you command, Your Majesty of the Humans.”
Ellie nodded and then led the other space series elites into action.
Not long after, accompanied by the surge of a space series energy wave, the surroundings had undergone a startling transformation.
Suddenly, space distortion appeared in several places, with jagged and bladed transparent outlines densely scattered everywhere, including in midair, like invisible abyss giant mouths, wide open and waiting for the arrival.
Seeing this hair-raising sight, everyone involuntarily gasped a breath of chilly air; had we not prepared, we’d likely suffer tremendous losses.
Fortunately, there were numerous gaps between most traps with considerable spacing, which would form our path forward.
“Time is tight, let’s proceed.”
After finding a safe route, just as Leo Ray was about to speak, an unforeseen anomaly suddenly occurred.
