Chapter 2022: Chapter 1135: The Dim Great Hall
Grimm Kingdom hinterland, Holy City of Radiance.
The night was hazy, enveloping this ancient metropolis that constantly emitted a faint Holy Light.
On the vast Grimm Plain, the entire Radiant City is remarkably prominent.
Including the magnificent city walls, every corner of this enormous city is constructed with pure white marble, like a beacon illuminating the Black night.
Sacredness and purity are the synonyms for this Holy City and the dream destination of countless followers of the Holy Light.
Since the Blank Era, Radiant City has stood here for three thousand years, never wavering a bit, or more precisely, no Human Clan dynasty has dared to challenge its dominance.
It is said that at the city’s founding, it was built on the ruins of an Imperial City of an Ancient Human Empire destroyed during the Blank Era, even inheriting some legacy from the Ancient Human Race’s peak period.
Such a background adds a touch of mystery here, the entire city stands like a Giant among the Human World, overlooking every inch of the land.
On the clean and tidy streets of Radiant City, the rich and warm aura of healing is pervasive, with spring-like seasons all year round, even winter snowflakes cannot cover the grass and trees here.
However, contrasting sharply with the radiant city outer areas, the Inner City Area of the Holy City has been enveloped in a dense fog for a century without dispersing, making it exceedingly mysterious.
And in the core area of the fog-shrouded Inner City of the Holy City, lies the Temple of Light’s Main Temple.
Here no longer accepts worshippers nor any Princes and Nobles, like a secluded area emptied by the fog, or a stain in this enormous sacred city unnoticeable by the people, quietly spreading.
Or perhaps, the shining Holy City is merely its disguise, and this foggy, dark-sheltered area is its true nature now.
No one knows why it’s sealed off here, nor does anyone know what’s really happening inside.
Despite being so unusual, the Temple of Light is the Guardian God of the Human World, who would doubt the leading Light Sanctuary of the three Neutral Organizations?
Moonlight shone, illuminating the dense fog slowly swirling at the center of Radiant City, the outline of a grand hall faintly visible within the fog, part of the mysterious Temple of Light’s Main Temple.
In the deepest part of the grand hall, candles flickered everywhere on the ground, with small points of faint light constantly flashing in the vast hall like fireflies, making the deeply dim great hall unfathomable.
“O Supreme Master, please forgive this one’s incompetence!”
Only Black-robed Person No. 1 was seen humbly prostrate on the red carpet in the dim great hall, fearfully speaking to the figure seated in the golden throne above: “It’s my failure to annihilate the Coldflame Kingdom and tear that despicable Otherworld heretical limb from limb.”
“It’s not your fault, though I noticed something unusual about the Lion King Temple early on, I didn’t expect it to be so interesting, those Heroic Spirits’ appearance indeed wasn’t part of our plan.”
Upon hearing, the figure above was not enraged, but rather intrigued, leaning with one hand on their chin and saying: “I wonder if these Heroic Spirits can become part of the ‘Divine Plan’? The grand Feast will soon commence, it’s truly exciting.”
Despite the playfulness, the voice still carried a sense of solemnity and majesty, just like the Pope’s proclamation, making their identity obvious, it was none other than Gannon the Ninth.
Since the area where Gannon the Ninth was seated was shrouded in darkness, the figure’s outline was incredibly hazy, only a large humanoid silhouette leaning on the throne like a strange, bizarre statue.
Realizing Gannon the Ninth seemingly didn’t intend to punish, Black-robed Person No. 1 felt slightly relieved and quickly echoed: “This one is highly anticipative too, it’s the dawn of a New Era!”
On this note, Black-robed Person No. 1 snorted coldly in disdain: “If it weren’t for being preoccupied with the ‘Divine Plan’ preparations, how could that despicable Otherworld heretical be allowed to prance until now? This one would personally grind them to dust!”
“No. 1, you seem to have misunderstood something. Although I said before that you are not to blame, it’s indeed a fact that you messed things up.”
Gannon the Ninth’s voice suddenly turned sharp, sternly saying: “Since you’ve erred, naturally you must face appropriate punishment.”
Having finished speaking, accompanied by a gentle flick of Gannon the Ninth’s fingers, a tiny cluster of eerie black fog rapidly flew toward Black-robed Person No. 1.
Before Black-robed Person No. 1 could react, the small cluster of black fog suddenly expanded, enveloping him entirely.
The sound of corrosion crackled, followed by Black-robed Person No. 1’s heartbreaking screams, and a nauseating scorched stench swiftly spread across the hall.
Once Black-robed Person No. 1 was barely conscious, with a casual wave from Gannon the Ninth, a ray of Holy Light covered Black-robed Person No. 1, beginning to heal the wounds just corroded by the black fog.
Corrosion, healing, corrosion, healing…
This repeated cycle went on several times until the final Holy Light descended, the black fog finally dispersed completely, while Black-robed Person No. 1 was like a pile of sludge, almost entirely losing the ability to move, barely hanging on, looking utterly bedraggled.
