Everyone Can Hear My Thoughts, and Now They're Panicking
Chapter 300: Your Biggest Flaw Is Adrian Lancaster
"The rule against unauthorized contact with the lesser worlds was established because those who make contact become anchors, causing Aethelgard to be fixed in the endless flow of time."
Number 1 sighed. "I had no other choice, but I have ultimately brought a hidden danger to Aethelgard. It’s all my fault."
"The Sanctum also has a rule: if all priests vote unanimously against punishment, then the subject is granted immunity," the Black-Haired Oracle said, lowering his gaze to hide the thoughts in his eyes.
The others immediately voiced their votes against punishment.
Number 14 was startled. He had almost sabotaged the great Number 1, whom he respected most.
But then again, while he didn’t want Number 3 to complete the mission, he was even more opposed to Jane Lancaster making waves.
’How could a villain get such a high star power rating?’
He looked smugly at the control screen. It didn’t matter if Jane Lancaster was freakishly intelligent and had guessed a shred of the truth; this way, she could forget about a happy ending.
’Go to Hell, you ant who dreams of turning the tables.’
—
The Lancaster Estate.
Pauline Shaw looked at Jane Lancaster, feeling exceptionally pleased with herself.
Before receiving that information, she had been trapped in misery for a long time.
After Yara Yates left, the company became unsustainable. Pauline was not good at management, the mess was too big to handle, and Mr. Shaw refused to compromise.
On top of that, Gordon Dawson was sentenced to prison, but Mrs. Dawson brought his maternal grandparents and moved right into the Shaw family home.
Mrs. Dawson, who had once claimed to see Pauline as her own daughter, had completely changed her tune, demanding that Pauline provide for the elderly couple.
That wasn’t all. The woman also demanded that Pauline remain chaste for Gordon, saying, "My son wore you out, and you still dare to mess around? A good woman should be faithful to one man until the end."
The woman followed her to a client meeting and, upon seeing her shake the client’s hand, ran out and screamed at her, calling her a slut.
Now, Pauline Shaw had become the laughingstock of her social circle. She didn’t dare go home, letting Mrs. Dawson occupy her house.
She spent countless nights filled with regret, wondering if she had truly done something wrong to make her mother and Jane Lancaster leave her.
Then, she grew angry. In the past, no matter what mistakes she made, Jane Lancaster would get mad, but she never gave up on her. How could she just abandon her this time?
It wasn’t until she received that text message that she had an epiphany.
"How could the real Jay possibly abandon me? She’s the one who taught me everything since I was a child. Even if I did something wrong, she would discipline me, guide me, and protect me. She’s the best Jay in the world!" Pauline Shaw said, tears streaming down her face. ’Why do I only feel regret after I’ve lost her?’
She looked at Jane Lancaster, her eyes blazing with intense hatred!
"But you’re just an evil ghost! What would you know about Jay’s feelings for me! You even schemed to drive a wedge between me and Jay, making me think I hated her! You’re so vicious, trampling on our friendship like this! Give me back my Jay!"
Jasper Sterling looked at her, his face devoid of expression. "Pauline Shaw, haven’t you been weaned yet?"
Pauline Shaw was incredulous. "After all that, you’re still defending her?"
"You can only fool yourself with that nonsense!" Jasper Sterling paused. "Oh, but it seems President Lowell actually believed it?"
Caleb Lowell’s brow was furrowed, his expression as dark as the bottom of a pot. He neither confirmed nor denied it.
Chloe Dave glanced at Jane Lancaster... Right, she was holding a bloody knife. That was indeed pretty terrifying!
He shrank back a little. "Jasper Sterling, I suggest you believe Pauline. Is it possible that the method of offering for the Blood Scripture you wrote about wasn’t quite proper, and that’s why you summoned an evil ghost from Hell?"
Caleb Lowell’s pupils constricted. ’What Blood Scripture?’
’Jasper Sterling actually wrote a Blood Scripture for Jane Lancaster?’
Jasper Sterling walked right up to Jane Lancaster, took her hand, and removed the knife. He toyed with it for a moment. "She’s not the one. I’m the evil ghost from Hell."
Caleb Lowell watched him warily. "What are you doing?"
Jasper Sterling smiled, then suddenly plunged the knife into Timothy Lancaster’s heart.
He had noticed long ago that Julian Lancaster’s stab had avoided the heart’s vital point.
He stabbed with extreme force, driving the blade deep. After it was in, he twisted it, completely shredding the man’s heart.
Timothy Lancaster, who Caleb Lowell had pronounced dead, suddenly convulsed twice.
Everyone was stunned. What was this new twist?
The fact that Timothy Lancaster was still alive wasn’t entirely surprising, but wasn’t what Jasper Sterling was doing murder?
Julian Lancaster had gone mad, but had he gone mad too?
Jasper Sterling pulled out the bloody tip of the knife. He lifted his gaze, his eyes sweeping up from the floor to meet Pauline Shaw’s. His look was terrifying and cold, stained with bloodlust.
Pauline Shaw was so frightened her heart nearly stopped. She instinctively ducked behind Jane Lancaster. "Jay, save me!"
Jane Lancaster sighed. "Why are you asking an evil ghost for help?"
Pauline Shaw’s face paled. Subconsciously, she had actually seen the person before her as Jane Lancaster herself.
"Jay, don’t be afraid." Caleb Lowell rushed over, trying to shield both Jane Lancaster and Pauline Shaw behind him.
However, he was a step too late.
Jane Lancaster grabbed Jasper Sterling’s knife-wielding hand. "Wrong. You should cut here."
With that, the knife rose and fell, directly severing one of Timothy Lancaster’s fingers.
Everyone: "..."
"AHHHH!" Pauline Shaw’s hysterical scream seemed to pierce through the entire villa.
Butler Forbes, who was closest, nearly fainted from shock. "Miss, what are you doing?"
He asked in shock and confusion, but his expression froze as soon as his gaze fell upon Timothy Lancaster’s severed finger.
"Th-this, how can this be?"
Julian Lancaster lowered his eyes and gave two soft coughs, swallowing the blood that had risen in his throat. "As expected."
He looked up at the others, a pale smile touching his lips. "Do you see now? That is the Lancaster Family’s true evil ghost!"
Everyone stared in shock at Timothy Lancaster’s severed finger. A bizarre thing was happening: the finger was regenerating at a visible rate.
"Still want to play dead?" Jane Lancaster smiled. "I don’t mind taking this knife and slicing off your flesh, piece by piece."
As she spoke, Jasper Sterling’s knife rose and fell again, severing another finger.
Timothy Lancaster coughed, then suddenly opened his eyes and sat up.
There was no longer any point in pretending. He couldn’t fool the people in this room, and he certainly couldn’t fool the others.
The butler was scared senseless and instantly leaped away.
"When did you figure it out?" Timothy Lancaster frowned. He was immortal, damn it, but he couldn’t banish the pain. And it really, really hurt.
His venomous gaze fell on Julian Lancaster and Jasper Sterling before finally landing on Jane Lancaster’s face.
"That time I cut my hand, were you testing me then too?" Racking his brain, he figured that must have been when he’d exposed a flaw.
Jane Lancaster said, "A long time ago. When I began to suspect that I was the original, I started to suspect you."
"You have no memories. On what grounds did you suspect me? Was my performance not good enough?" Timothy Lancaster couldn’t resist demanding an answer.
He was too proud and conceited, believing his disguise to be flawless. He had even deceived Butler Forbes, his personal attendant. He couldn’t understand why he had met his downfall with Jane Lancaster.
Jane Lancaster replied, "I had no memories, so I wasn’t sure. I could only do everything in my power to lure you back to the country."
Timothy Lancaster tilted his head, thinking. "I didn’t show any flaws at that time, did I?"
Jane Lancaster shook her head. "Your biggest flaw is Adrian Lancaster!"
