Everyone Can Hear My Thoughts, and Now They're Panicking
Chapter 289: He’s the One Who Kidnapped You in the End
Julian Lancaster clenched his fists. He glanced at the driver in the front seat.
The driver, likely worried the siblings would fight, kept glancing at them in the rearview mirror.
Perhaps because Timothy Lancaster was already on a plane, Julian Lancaster dropped his pretense. His voice was icy as he said, "These cheap tricks won’t be enough to frame Luna."
Just as Jane Lancaster had guessed, he didn’t believe a single word of the accusations the Lucas couple had made against Luna Morgan.
Jane Lancaster thought for a moment. "That might not be the case."
’To attack Luna Morgan, this level of slander is, of course, not enough. I need to drag more people into the fray.’
’She’s kind and resilient, delicate yet magnanimous, always willing to lend a helping hand and repay malice with kindness. That’s why far too many men love and adore her.’
’That point alone is more than enough to work with—’
Julian Lancaster’s expression darkened. "What are you planning?"
Actually, the question shouldn’t be what she was planning to do, but what she had already done.
By the time the car arrived at the Lancaster Courtyard, the internet had already exploded.
A post from a few days ago had been shared across all major social media platforms and was now a trending topic.
It contained countless photos and "evidence" proving how promiscuous Luna Morgan was, how many men she had seduced, and how she was a shameless woman corrupting social morals.
The original poster shared numerous photos of her with different men—in luxury cars, entering and exiting hotels, and even staying in someone else’s mansion. If that didn’t make her a gold digger, what did?
Not only that, but the most explosive accusations were that she had seduced the superstar Adrian and stolen someone else’s fiancé.
This so-called fiancé was Caleb Lowell, which tied back to that bungled kidnapping incident.
The moment the car stopped, the butler respectfully stepped forward and opened the door. "Miss Lancaster, you’re back."
As soon as Jane Lancaster got out of the car, she immediately felt several hateful glares on her.
She vaguely heard a man’s voice roaring in anger, "Miss Morgan isn’t that kind of person at all!"
The butler frowned, subtly moving to block her view of that direction. "Miss Lancaster, it’s windy and cold out here. Please, hurry inside and warm up."
Jane Lancaster had no desire to stand in the cold wind either, but just as she was about to go inside, someone stopped her.
"Miss Lancaster, is your conscience bothering you? Are you too afraid to even hear what the staff has to think?"
Several cars had driven into the courtyard, and someone had lowered a window to speak to her before they even came to a stop.
A few people got out of the cars one after another. Leading the group were two of the Lancaster family’s uncles, but the one who had spoken was Assistant Grant.
"Miss Lancaster, we meet again so soon," he said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. His gaze, fixed on Jane Lancaster, was as if laced with poison.
Leo Grant had grown up without a mother. When he was ten, his biological father’s youngest son was born, and using the excuse that there was no room in the house, he was kicked out to sleep in the hallway in the dead of winter.
It was an old residential building. The dilapidated hallway was cluttered with junk, had no windows, and the wind howled right through it.
On the seventh night, the temperature plummeted, and snow fell for most of the night. He thought he was going to die, but then Sean Grant opened his door and saved him.
After that, he left that family, changed his surname to Grant, and followed Sean Grant, clawing his way up to his current position.
Since Jane Lancaster had dared to make a move against Sean Grant, she had to be prepared for his retaliation.
He had just been there at the school to stir up trouble. As Jane Lancaster had said, he had no evidence.
Although he had received a mysterious text message tipping him off, he’d checked the number and found it was out of service. The trail had gone cold.
But it didn’t matter. He didn’t need evidence.
Jane Lancaster was far too naive. Did she think they were some kind of law-abiding model students? Without evidence, he still had a thousand ways to kill her.
The butler turned pale with shock. "How did you get in? Security! Where’s security? Why wasn’t I notified!"
Leo Grant: "We were, of course, invited by the two uncles to be guests."
The two uncles: "..."
At first, they had thought Leo Grant was inviting them over to mediate, and they’d planned to put on airs. But they quickly discovered his attitude was so aggressive that he didn’t even bother to hide it.
Not only was his attitude toward them poor, but just now at the gatehouse, they had been planning to use their status to negotiate entry. Instead, a few of his men had jumped out, rushed directly into the security booth, opened the gate, and let the cars in.
The two uncles were quite frightened. They had never seen such thuggish behavior!
But they didn’t dare to object. They could only resent Jane Lancaster for being too audacious, for daring to provoke just anyone!
"Jane Lancaster, what is wrong with you? Hurry up and confess! Did you attack President Grant?!" one of the uncles scolded with a stern face.
"It’s all Timothy Lancaster’s fault for spoiling you and cultivating this lawless personality of yours! Come clean, what’s this about Adrian?" the other one pressed anxiously.
Julian Lancaster, who had been silent until now, paled slightly at the mention of this and shot a sharp glare at the butler.
The butler frantically waved his hands, signaling that he hadn’t revealed a thing!
Jane Lancaster was a little suspicious. "What does this have to do with my Third Brother?"
"Still not admitting it! We’ve already caught the person..."
"No need to rush. Let’s first talk about what’s going on here." Leo Grant raised a hand, interrupting their conversation.
He turned to the Lancaster family’s servants and said with a smile, "Who was the brave soul just now? Come on out and tell us why you think Miss Morgan isn’t that kind of person."
He paused, then raised his voice. "Anyone willing to come forward and speak will be rewarded with ten thousand."
He gave a signal, and one of his subordinates immediately opened a metal briefcase, revealing stacks of cash inside.
Jane Lancaster was a little disappointed. The cash was all bundled up.
’What a shame. Otherwise, with a wind this strong, it would surely be sent flying everywhere...’
Julian Lancaster gave her a speechless look. At a time like this, what on earth was going through her head?
But in the next second, a powerful gust of wind swept through. Two bundles of cash fell to the ground, and bills instantly scattered into the air!
Jane Lancaster: "..."
Leo Grant: "..."
Julian Lancaster: "..."
’Sys, was that you?’ Jane Lancaster asked uncertainly in her mind.
In Aethelgard, the Black-Haired Oracle hummed softly in assent.
’Thanks, Sys! Nice one!’ Jane Lancaster replied with a laugh in her mind.
The Black-Haired Oracle lowered his gaze. To his former self, this would have seemed a pointless act—a waste of Divine Power with no real benefit.
But seeing the way Leo Grant was staring at Jane Lancaster made him feel uneasy.
It was the look of a viper eyeing its prey—cold and vicious.
Without Sean Grant’s restraint, the current Leo Grant was a completely enraged beast, his calm exterior hiding a madness bent on destroying everything.
Worried that Jane Lancaster didn’t understand the danger, the Black-Haired Oracle reminded her in a low voice: ’He’s the one who kidnaps you at the end of the original story.’
Jane Lancaster chuckled.
’So it’s him. I see. Thanks for the heads-up.’
The Black-Haired Oracle’s lips tightened. He didn’t relax. ’...You need to be careful of him.’
Jane Lancaster sensed there was a hidden meaning in his words. She flipped through to the story’s ending and finally found the reason.
’So my ending wasn’t just getting kidnapped, then getting hit by a car and dying while escaping.’
’It was getting hit by a car and dying while trying to escape being gang-raped after the kidnapping.’
