Upon receiving news that his youngest son had been poisoned, Timothy Lancaster had no choice but to end his workday and rush to the hospital.

Outside the emergency room late at night, Julian Lancaster wore a heavy, grief-stricken expression.

Hearing footsteps, he looked up slightly and called out in a hoarse voice, "Dad."

Timothy Lancaster’s gaze swept the area. "How is he now?"

"They’re still trying to save him," Julian Lancaster said.

Timothy Lancaster nodded. "Where’s Jay?"

His gaze paused when he saw Jane Lancaster sitting on the other side of the hallway, and he hurried over.

"Jay!" His face was filled with concern. "How are you? Are you hurt? I heard there was an assailant with a knife. Thank God you’re okay! You scared your father to death!"

Adrian Lancaster’s manager and assistant both stared at Timothy Lancaster in astonishment, not quite understanding how Adrian’s father could be like this.

His son’s life was hanging in the balance as doctors fought to save him in the emergency room, yet he didn’t seem worried at all. Instead, he was concerned about whether his daughter was hurt.

Besides, Jane Lancaster looked completely unharmed... Such a look of relief was truly inappropriate for the occasion.

Jane Lancaster glanced at Timothy Lancaster, her face a little pale, but said nothing.

Timothy Lancaster just assumed she was frightened, so he sat down beside her and patted her shoulder. "Don’t worry, your Third Brother will definitely be fine."

He sensed a gaze on him and looked up.

"Uncle Lancaster," Jasper Sterling greeted politely.

Timothy Lancaster nodded slightly and got straight to the point. "What exactly happened? Why does Jay look so shaken up?"

Meanwhile, Julian Lancaster hung his head, staring at his palms.

He had lost his mother at a very young age and understood the meaning of death.

Later, when the Lancaster Family went bankrupt, his father decided to send him and his younger brother back to their old hometown to live. At that moment, he truly thought he had lost his home.

The house in the city wasn’t his home; it belonged to his father and sister. The three brothers had been excluded.

During countless dark nights in the countryside, he would return from work to find his two younger brothers still waiting for him, and in those moments, he felt like he had a home again.

Wherever his two younger brothers were, that was his home.

He knew, of course, that the child he had raised himself was emotionally distant, but so what? As long as he was alive and well, nothing else mattered.

He had sworn to protect his two younger brothers his whole life, but Alvin Lancaster had gone mad, and now it seemed he couldn’t even protect Adrian Lancaster.

The three Lancaster brothers, pushed by fate, were walking step-by-step toward a foretold destiny.

A dull ache started in his stomach, and only then did he remember that he had been running around all night without a single bite to eat.

He hunched over in pain, his arm accidentally bumping the armrest of the chair with a CLATTER.

Timothy Lancaster heard the noise and glanced at him from a distance, but he quickly looked away with a cold expression, clearly having no intention of asking what was wrong.

’Yes, when it comes to being emotionally distant, who in the Lancaster Family could possibly compare to their own father?’

’He was capable of abandoning his three sons in the countryside to fend for themselves, and in the many years that followed, he remained utterly cold toward them.’

’Adrian Lancaster lacked a father’s love growing up, which is why he tried to compete with Jane Lancaster for favor. But after all that struggle, what did he get?’

’Did their father even spare a thought for his youngest son, who was still fighting for his life?’

Julian Lancaster rose slowly and walked toward Timothy Lancaster.

Timothy Lancaster didn’t notice Julian Lancaster’s approach. He was looking at Jane Lancaster’s pale face. "Jay, there’s no telling when this will be over. You should go home and rest first."

"Father. Jay." Julian Lancaster stopped a few meters away.

Timothy Lancaster lifted his gaze. "What is it? Do you need something?"

Julian Lancaster spoke, his voice hoarse. "I want to ask Jay, did you know Chase was going to be poisoned tonight?"

Jane Lancaster looked up. Their eyes met, but she didn’t answer.

Timothy Lancaster, however, flared up. "What are you trying to say? How would your sister know Chase was going to be poisoned? That’s ridiculous!"

But Julian Lancaster stared sharply at Jane Lancaster. "Why didn’t you stop it?"

Jane Lancaster still didn’t answer.

Timothy Lancaster flew into a rage. "Are you blaming your sister now? What is this tone? Are you interrogating a criminal?"

A chill spread through Julian Lancaster’s heart. He found his answer in Jane Lancaster’s silence.

"So your family’s lives don’t matter to you at all, is that right?"

"Because we like Luna more, because we aren’t completely devoted to you, you feel you have to frantically retaliate against every single one of us, even wish we were all dead, right?"

He suddenly roared, "Answer me!"

The roar stunned everyone present.

Timothy Lancaster’s assistant and driver were even more shocked. They had never seen the eldest young master raise his voice to their employer before. How dare he today?

The key thing was that his presence was so overpowering that it momentarily suppressed Timothy Lancaster.

Timothy Lancaster realized this as well. He had actually been startled by his own son. How outrageous!

"Insolent! Do you still have any respect for me, your old man, or for your sister?!" Timothy Lancaster’s face was ashen.

Julian Lancaster looked at him indifferently, not backing down an inch.

"Jay, let’s go. We’re going home right now. Dad will protect you." Timothy Lancaster didn’t want to stay a second longer.

Jane Lancaster said, "...I don’t want to go. I want to stay with Third Brother."

Timothy Lancaster snorted. "What’s there to stay for? If you keep staying, he’ll start holding me accountable too!"

Jane Lancaster looked up at him. "Dad, Third Brother is your son, too."

Timothy Lancaster’s expression froze for a moment. "But Dad is worried about you..."

The doors to the emergency room suddenly opened, and a doctor walked out. "He’s out of immediate danger for now, but he needs to remain under observation. We’re not sure when he’ll wake up. Fortunately, we identified the chemical agent he was poisoned with right away, or it would have been critical."

Watching as Adrian Lancaster was wheeled to the ICU, the family breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Timothy Lancaster said with a blank expression, "Chase is fine now. Shouldn’t you apologize to your sister?"

Julian Lancaster clenched his fists and refused to apologize.

Timothy Lancaster took a step forward. "I heard that Chase even tried to strangle Jay. Is that any way to treat his sister?"

Jane Lancaster gave Timothy Lancaster a surprised look.

’He even found out about that detail? I also thought Adrian Lancaster’s reaction at the time was very strange.’

’Could it be that he wasn’t poisoned by someone else this time, but that he’s turning the tables on me, using this trick to frame me?’

’If I go to jail, the share transfer will definitely be called off, and all the shares of The Lancaster Group will be firmly back in the hands of Julian Lancaster and Timothy Lancaster.’

’Did Adrian Lancaster really go this far just to harm me?’

A flash of rage crossed Julian Lancaster’s eyes, his cold hatred peaking at that moment.

’Even now, she’s still trying to shift the blame, pinning everything on Adrian Lancaster?’

[BEEP. WARNING, WARNING. Julian Lancaster’s favorability is about to hit zero...]

In any case, the chaotic night was not without its rewards.

After Julian Lancaster’s favorability was cleared, the only person left for her to win over was Caleb Lowell.

The next day, Jane Lancaster was in a good mood. She ate two servings of breakfast, stuffing herself full.

Timothy Lancaster said, "Your eldest brother isn’t coming home, so now it’s just the two of us here. It’s almost like when you were a little girl."
