Chapter 210: Chapter 210: If You Can’t Get Rid of the Green Tea, Get Rid of Him Too

The atmosphere inside the tent suddenly grew awkward.

Cheng Nian and Li Wen exchanged a glance, their brows furrowing slightly. They wanted to say something, but seeing that Yun Sheng’s expression hadn’t changed at all, they held their tongues.

Zhao Qian had been about to argue with Yun Sheng, but upon Lin Yueyao’s sudden appearance and her words, she immediately swallowed whatever she was going to say.

A star-struck expression appeared on her face, and her voice softened.

"Sister Yue Yao, it’s... it’s nothing."

Lin Yueyao smiled gently and reached out to pat Zhao Qian’s shoulder. "Good, as long as it’s nothing."

Then, she turned to Yun Sheng, her gaze full of concern.

"Yun Sheng, I heard you were unconscious for a day. I was worried sick. How are you feeling now? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"

Yun Sheng looked at her, scoffing inwardly.

’Worried sick?’

’She was probably hoping I’d never wake up!’

She gave a cool nod. "Thank you for your concern. I’m fine."

Lin Yueyao seemed to let out a sigh of relief, her tone carrying a hint of feigned reproach.

"Oh, you. You just push yourself too hard. I know you want to do well in this wilderness training, but you can’t be reckless. If you hurt yourself, Mom, Dad, and I will all be worried."

Yun Sheng couldn’t be bothered to entertain her act. She lowered her gaze and said nothing, causing the atmosphere in the tent to grow even more awkward.

Cheng Nian and Li Wen exchanged another look. They both felt something was off about Lin Yueyao’s words, but they couldn’t put their finger on what it was.

As if not noticing the increasingly cold expression on Yun Sheng’s face, Lin Yueyao maintained her gentle tone. "Yun Sheng, can I speak with you alone? Just for a moment."

Yun Sheng glanced up at her and, without refusing, followed her out of the tent.

A cool night breeze washed over them.

Most of the lights in the camp were out, with only a dim, yellow glow coming from the command tent.

Lin Yueyao stood outside the tent. The moonlight fell on her face, making her delicate features appear even softer.

She looked at Yun Sheng and was about to speak...

"There’s no one else here. You can drop the act. Just say what you want to say."

Yun Sheng’s voice was neither high nor low, but it was ice-cold, like a heartless blade slicing right through the pretense of politeness.

The smile on Lin Yueyao’s face froze for an instant.

"Yun Sheng, why would you say that? I really am worried about you."

Yun Sheng looked at her without a word.

Her stare made Lin Yueyao uncomfortable. She lowered her gaze slightly, her voice dropping.

"I know you don’t like me and don’t accept me as your sister. It’s okay. Time will prove everything. I just hope you don’t blame Mom, Dad, and Xiao Hao. After all, they’re your closest family."

"Lin Yueyao, is this all you wanted to say to me?"

Yun Sheng’s tone was slightly impatient.

’Fine, say these hypocritical things in front of others, but to keep up the act when it’s just the two of us? How boring.’

Lin Yueyao was silent for a moment. The gentleness in her eyes vanished completely, replaced by a more direct, scrutinizing gaze.

"Yun Sheng, Brother Bai went to the Lin Family to call off the engagement. Did you know about this?"

Yun Sheng froze for a second, then asked in confusion, "The White War God? I’m here for training. I haven’t even seen him. How would I know he went to call off the engagement?"

Lin Yueyao stared at her, as if trying to determine whether she was telling the truth.

Yun Sheng met her gaze without flinching, even raising an eyebrow slightly. Her expression clearly said, ’Is there anything else?’

Lin Yueyao lowered her eyes, her eyelashes trembling slightly. When she looked up again, the rims of her eyes were already red.

"Yun Sheng, Brother Bai and I grew up together. I’ve known about our families’ engagement since we were children. I’m his fiancée. To keep up with him, I trained like my life depended on it..."

"When I was about to awaken, I was so nervous I couldn’t sleep all night, terrified that my Level would be too low, that I wouldn’t be worthy of him. Later, I awakened as an S-Class Guide, but I was still worried..."

She looked at Yun Sheng, tears welling in her eyes. Her voice grew softer, laced with a pleading tone.

"Yun Sheng, I really love him. You... please don’t take him from me, okay? Anything else, whatever you want, I can give it back to you."

Yun Sheng looked at her, scoffing inwardly.

’Take him from you?’

’Lin Yueyao, the cuckoo who stole the nest, the fake daughter—what right does she have to say something like that to me?’

"Lin Yueyao, that’s a matter between you and the White War God. There’s no need to bring it to me. Besides, since I returned to the Capital Star from the Eighth Star Zone, have I taken anything from you?"

Lin Yueyao’s tears paused.

"I came back, and you’re still in the Lin Family, still playing the part of the Lin family’s precious daughter." Yun Sheng’s tone was calm and steady, but every word was a stab to the heart. "Did the love Mr. and Mrs. Lin and Lin Hao have for you diminish even one bit? No. They still treat you like their own flesh and blood. Mr. Lin even wants to give you 5% of the Lin Group’s shares! What exactly have I taken from you?"

Lin Yueyao opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but found she had no rebuttal.

"As for the White War God... if he wants to call off the engagement, that’s his business. You came to me—did you think I could order the great Star Alliance War God around? Or that a single word from me could change his mind?"

"Lin Yueyao, this is between you two. If you have a problem, you should go to him, not waste your time on me!"

Yun Sheng finished speaking, her face devoid of expression, and turned to leave without giving Lin Yueyao so much as a second glance.

The tent flap fell behind her, blocking out the sound of the night wind and Lin Yueyao’s darkening gaze.

Lin Yueyao stood rooted to the spot, her fingers clenching into a fist. Her nails dug into her palm, leaving faint crescent-shaped marks.

She stared at the closed tent flap, a cold, resentful light glinting in the depths of her eyes.

"Yun Sheng, everything was fine before you came back. You’re the one who returned and changed everything. I won’t let this go!"

...

When Yun Sheng returned to the tent, Cheng Nian and Li Wen were already lying down. The only sounds were their even breathing and the occasional chirp of insects from a distance.

She tiptoed to her bunk and lay down, pulling the covers up to her chin. After staring at the ceiling of the tent for a long while, she fished out her terminal.

The light from the screen flared in the darkness, a bit dazzling.

She squinted and opened the chat window with Bai Ye’s alternate account. Her fingertips hovered over the screen for a few seconds before she typed out a message.

F-3: Lin Yueyao is here. You made this mess, you clean it up. I don’t want her bothering me anymore.

Just as she sent the message and was about to shove the terminal back under her pillow, the screen suddenly lit up.

S-1: She went to find you?

Yun Sheng was taken aback.

’He replied so quickly?’

She glanced at the time. It was already late at night.

She had thought she would have to wait until tomorrow for a reply, or even that Bai Ye wouldn’t reply at all. After all, he was back on the Capital Star. Would he really still be carrying this terminal?

Yun Sheng lowered her gaze and typed another line.

F-3: Yeah, to provide guidance for Qi Yao.

The moment she sent the message, the screen lit up again almost simultaneously.

S-1: Sorry. I’ll handle it immediately.

’Handle it immediately?’

’Bai Ye is on the Capital Star, and Lin Yueyao is in Zone 10. How is he going to ’handle it immediately’?’

Yun Sheng stared at the line of text for a few seconds, then tossed the terminal under her pillow, rolled over, and buried her face in it.

The terminal under her pillow kept beeping, one chime after another, as if it wouldn’t stop until she replied.

She didn’t look at it. She closed her eyes and pulled the covers up over her ears, blocking out the faint sound.

Ever since she saw Lin Yueyao, a knot of frustration had been stuck in her chest, making it hard to breathe. Just thinking about it was irritating, so much so that she didn’t want to deal with Bai Ye at all.
