Chapter 419 - 253: The Wu Family of Yujing

Chapter 419: Chapter 253: The Wu Family of Yujing

As the night deepened, Fang Yue’s figure quickly vanished into the darkness.

~~~~~~
A month later, within the Wu Family estate in Yujing City.
"What? The Patriarch is dead?"
A middle-aged man turned pale with shock upon hearing the news.
He was Wu Youxin, the Second Elder of the Wu Family. He was also Wu Wende’s uncle and had long been coveting the position of Patriarch.
"Yes, Second Elder. This is the news we received from the Shui Long Bang. It’s absolutely reliable," a subordinate said in a low voice.
Upon hearing this, a flicker of joy flashed in Wu Youxin’s eyes.
But he quickly remembered that the Patriarch’s death was a devastating blow to the Wu Family.
He had no choice but to suppress his inner joy and feign a look of grief.
"The Patriarch was brilliant and powerful. How could he have died so suddenly? What in the world happened?" Wu Youxin asked in a heavy voice.
"Reportedly, the Patriarch was searching for Wind and Thunder Primordial Qi and somehow died there. They say he was killed by a young man," the subordinate said cautiously.
"A young man? What kind of young man possesses the strength to kill the Patriarch?"
Wu Youxin asked, feigning shock, but he was already secretly speculating about the young man’s identity and background.
He knew that anyone capable of killing Wu Youli was no ordinary person.
This young man was likely a disciple of some major power, or perhaps the heir to a reclusive master.
However, none of this was important.
What mattered was that the Patriarch was dead and the Wu Family was without a leader. This was the perfect opportunity for him to seize the position of Patriarch.
Of course, before that, he still had to deal with Wu Youli’s sons.
For example, he could send Wu Wende away to Gongzhou Prefecture to manage the family’s business.
Wu Youxin plotted inwardly, but his face remained impassive. He just nodded slightly, signaling for the subordinate to withdraw.
He sat alone in his study, lost in thought.
He knew this news was a bolt from the blue for the Wu Family.
As Patriarch, Wu Youli was not only immensely powerful but also ruthless. He had always been the pillar of the Wu Family.
His sudden death would inevitably plunge the Wu Family into chaos.
However, Wu Youxin wasn’t worried about any of that.
He had long desired to contend for the position of Patriarch, but had always lacked the opportunity. Now, that opportunity had finally arrived.
He was confident that with his own strength and methods, he could stabilize the Wu Family’s situation and then gradually seize complete control.
Of course, he also knew that this process would not be smooth sailing.
Wu Youli’s sons were no pushovers.
Though young, they were by no means weak, and each had his own faction and trusted subordinates.
Especially Wu Wende. As Wu Youli’s legitimate heir, he had always been seen as the undisputed successor to the position of Patriarch.
His strength and influence were what Wu Youxin feared most.
But Wu Youxin had his own advantages.
He had been maneuvering within the Wu Family for many years, establishing deep roots and a wide network of connections.
Furthermore, he possessed a secret weapon unknown to anyone else: his connection to a mysterious faction.
This mysterious faction was incredibly powerful and had been secretly backing Wu Youxin all along.
With their support, Wu Youxin was certain he could defeat all his rivals and smoothly ascend to the position of Patriarch.
A surge of ambition and pride welled up within Wu Youxin at the thought.
He stood up, walked to the window, looked at the sky outside, and took a deep breath.
"The Wu Family... will ultimately be mine!" he muttered to himself.
