Chapter 371: Chapter 230: Unsettled

Fang Yue frowned slightly upon hearing this news. He hadn’t expected Black Robe to make such a demand—that he come to pick up the person himself.

This Black Robe was an Expert of Shape-Shifting, their power unfathomable. He feared he was no match for them yet.

’But to save them, I can’t back down.’

Besides, with the Observatory mediating, the other party wouldn’t dare to make a move on him. To do so would be a slap in the face to the Observatory.

If that happened, even if they were an Expert of Shape-Shifting and a Tributor to the imperial court, things would not end well for them. ’Their demand for me to come in person is probably just an attempt to intimidate and warn me.’

"Elder Hui, where is Black Robe? I’ll go get the person now," Fang Yue said in a low voice.

"Black Robe is at a villa outside the city. After you leave the city, just head north and you’ll see it."

Hui Hengwu said, "You must be careful on this trip. Black Robe has a secretive personality and is ruthless. Don’t fall into their trap. However, as long as you don’t start any trouble, they won’t dare to make a move on you."

"Don’t worry, Elder Hui. I will be careful," Fang Yue said with a nod.

He then left the Observatory and headed out of the city toward the villa where Black Robe was located.

As Fang Yue left the city and traveled north, he pondered things over.

’Why would Black Robe set such a condition, demanding I come in person? Is there some kind of conspiracy behind this?’

But no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t figure it out.

After all, he knew far too little about Black Robe, only that they were an Expert of Shape-Shifting with unfathomable power.

After walking for about an hour, Fang Yue finally saw the villa.

The villa was nestled within a dense forest and looked quite serene. Fang Yue, however, didn’t dare let his guard down for a second. He knew Black Robe was inside and could attack him at any moment.

He took a deep breath and strode toward the villa.

Just as he reached the entrance, two young women came forward to greet him.

"You’re Fang Yue?" one of them asked coldly.

"That’s right, I’m Fang Yue," he replied with a nod. "Where is Black Robe? I’m here for the person."

"The master is inside. Follow me," the young woman said.

Fang Yue followed the two women into the villa. The interior was simply decorated, but every detail exuded a mysterious and eerie atmosphere. He remained inwardly vigilant, ready for any unexpected developments.

He was led into a large hall. The hall was dimly lit, and a strange fragrance filled the air, so alluring that one couldn’t help but feel entranced.

Fang Yue frowned slightly. He sensed that it wasn’t poison, but something that stimulated the body.

’This strange fragrance is probably a trick Black Robe is using to bewitch people’s minds,’ Fang Yue thought, growing more alert.

He circulated his Primordial Qi, trying his best to stay clear-headed and not be swayed by the scent.

He glanced around and saw that the hall was empty. Black Robe was nowhere to be seen.

Standing in the dim hall, Fang Yue felt a wave of inexplicable unease wash over him.

He knew that since Black Robe had set the condition for him to come in person, there had to be something fishy going on.

However, he still couldn’t guess Black Robe’s true intentions.

"Black Robe, since I’m here, come on out! Why are you hiding?" Fang Yue shouted coldly, trying to break the suffocating silence.

The moment his voice fell, a strange laugh suddenly echoed.

"My dear young gentleman, since you’re here, why be in such a rush? I am coming out now."

Following the strange laughter, a figure slowly emerged from the hall’s shadows.

Fang Yue focused his gaze and was momentarily stunned.

The person who appeared was not the Black Robe he had imagined, but a woman in a brightly colored dress.

The woman’s makeup was enchanting, and a seductive charm danced in her eyes, as if they could suck out a person’s very soul.

She walked gracefully, her body swaying with an alluring rhythm, exuding a strange yet captivating charm.

"Who are you?" Fang Yue frowned, his guard rising even higher.

He hadn’t expected Black Robe to send a woman to deal with him. ’There must be a trap.’

"My name is Matchmaker," the woman said with a delicate laugh, her voice so soft and sweet it could melt your bones.

Fang Yue looked at the woman who called herself Matchmaker, feeling a surge of doubt.

’One of Black Robe’s subordinates is a gorgeous woman like this? That’s unexpected.’

However, he didn’t lower his guard. Instead, he became even more cautious.

"Matchmaker, where is Black Robe? Tell them to come out," Fang Yue said in a low voice, trying to pry Black Robe’s location from her.

Matchmaker giggled, swaying her hips as she walked up to Fang Yue. With seductive eyes, she said, "Young gentleman, why are you in such a hurry to see the master? The master went out and hasn’t returned yet. Since there’s nothing else to do, why don’t you let me keep you company for a while?"

Fang Yue looked at Matchmaker and sneered inwardly.

’I’m not some greenhorn who can be seduced by a pretty face.’

He knew this Matchmaker must have been sent by Black Robe to test him. If he made one careless move, he could fall right into their trap.

"Stop wasting your time. Take me to your master now!" Fang Yue said.

"Hehe, alright. Since you’re so impatient, I’ll take you to my master!"

Matchmaker laughed charmingly, a cunning glint flashing in her eyes.

Swaying her hips, she led the way, guiding Fang Yue through winding corridors and deeper into the villa.

Fang Yue followed closely behind her, his internal guard on high alert.
