Chapter 359: Chapter 225: Altar (2)

"Hmph, you little thief! Still trying to trick me!"

Fang Yue hadn’t expected Lin Wan’Er to have such a move. ’Nice skills!’ he praised her silently.

He shifted his body slightly to the side, dodging Lin Wan’Er’s attack.

At the same time, he reached out, grabbed her ankle, and pulled her toward him.

"What are you doing? Let me go!"

Pulled by Fang Yue, Lin Wan’Er stumbled and fell into his arms.

She struggled to stand up, only to find her ankle held fast in Fang Yue’s grip, completely unable to move.

"Hmph, you’re asking me what I’m doing? I should be asking you what *you’re* doing!"

Fang Yue smiled at Lin Wan’Er. "Why did you attack me? Is this how you repay your savior?"

Lin Wan’Er felt a little guilty under Fang Yue’s gaze, but she stubbornly retorted, "Wh-who was trying to hit you? I was just stretching my limbs a bit."

"Let go of the Young Miss, you scoundrel! Let her go!" The handmaiden at her side was also struggling, but without any Martial Arts, she couldn’t break free at all.

"So disobedient!"

Fang Yue smiled faintly and suddenly began to sway her back and forth.

"Wh-what are you doing?"

Being swayed by Fang Yue made Lin Wan’Er dizzy and lightheaded. She was terrified.

She had never met such a scoundrel before and, for a moment, had no idea how to react.

"Heh heh, what do you *think* I’m going to do?"

A wicked grin spread across Fang Yue’s face as he continued to sway Lin Wan’Er. ’Her fair, delicate foot feels so smooth in my hand.’

"Let me go, or I’ll scream for help!"

Lin Wan’Er’s heart was in turmoil. She felt like a lamb to the slaughter, about to be devoured by Fang Yue at any moment.

"Go ahead and scream. No one will hear you here anyway."

Fang Yue said nonchalantly.

He knew this cellar was very well hidden, and with the old man gone, no one would discover their situation anytime soon.

"Wh-what do you want?"

Lin Wan’Er knew she couldn’t escape Fang Yue’s grasp, so she could only give up struggling in resignation.

Looking at Lin Wan’Er’s helpless and terrified expression, Fang Yue found it rather amusing.

He didn’t actually plan on doing anything to Lin Wan’Er. He just wanted to tease her a little.

So, he let go of her ankle and said with a smile, "Don’t be scared. I was just joking with you."

Lin Wan’Er hadn’t expected Fang Yue to suddenly let go. For a moment, she couldn’t react.

She stared blankly at Fang Yue, a flicker of doubt and confusion in her eyes.

"You were really just joking?" Lin Wan’Er asked, finding it hard to believe.

Fang Yue nodded. "Of course. Why would I do anything to you? You’re all skin and bones. Too scrawny, too small... nothing to look at."

Hearing Fang Yue say this, Lin Wan’Er finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She knew her actions just now had been impulsive. If Fang Yue really was the old man’s accomplice, her fate would have been tragic.

"I’m sorry. I misunderstood you just now," Lin Wan’Er said apologetically.

Fang Yue waved his hand, indicating he didn’t mind.

But then, Lin Wan’Er carefully looked herself over and muttered under her breath, "Where am I scrawny? Where am I small?!"

Seeing Lin Wan’Er’s somewhat adorable appearance, Fang Yue couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

He realized he was starting to develop a bit of a fondness for this runaway young lady. Perhaps it was because she wasn’t delicate and pampered like other women from Noble Families; instead, she had a resilient, unyielding spirit.

"What are you laughing at?" Lin Wan’Er asked, confused to see Fang Yue laughing.

Fang Yue shook his head. "Nothing. I just find you interesting."

Upon hearing this, a blush crept onto Lin Wan’Er’s face, though it was unclear if it was from shyness or anger.

She shot Fang Yue a glare and said, "What’s wrong with you? You’re so strange. One minute you’re scaring me, the next you’re laughing at me. What are you trying to do?"

Fang Yue smiled. "I don’t mean anything by it. I just think you’re not like those pampered young ladies from Noble Families. You have a very special quality about you."

Hearing Fang Yue praise her like this, Lin Wan’Er couldn’t help but feel a little smug.

But she wouldn’t admit it out loud. "Wh-who’s pampered? I’ve been learning Martial Arts since I was a child!"

Fang Yue nodded. "Oh? So you know Martial Arts. That’s quite impressive."

When Lin Wan’Er heard Fang Yue praise her Martial Arts, her spirits lifted immediately. "Of course! I’ve been learning from my master since I was a child. I might not be a top-tier expert, but I’m more than capable of handling ordinary people."

Looking at Lin Wan’Er’s smug expression, Fang Yue found it rather amusing.

He knew her Martial Arts weren’t actually that great; at best, she was just a bit stronger than the average woman.

However, he didn’t expose her lie. Instead, he played along, saying, "Oh? So you’re an expert. Then I’ll have to rely on you for protection from now on."

Hearing Fang Yue say this, Lin Wan’Er became even more pleased with herself.

She puffed out her chest and said, "Don’t worry! As long as I’m here, no one will dare to bully you!"

Seeing Lin Wan’Er’s heroic, over-the-top declaration, Fang Yue couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

He found this runaway young lady to be truly interesting. Not only was she stubborn, but she also had a kind of innocent and artless charm.

"Alright, let’s stop talking for now, so we don’t get discovered," Fang Yue said in a low voice, his smile fading.

Lin Wan’Er also realized she had lost her composure and quickly shut her mouth.

However, after a moment’s thought, she said, "You’re so skilled, why were you captured too? Are we just going to wait here? Shouldn’t we just escape?"
