Chapter 298: Chapter 198: Slaying the Dragon (Part 2)
Moreover, upon meeting him, Fang Yue had personally killed County Magistrate Liu, the very man who had almost annihilated him and his brothers.
Yes, the one who had shot and killed County Magistrate Liu was Fang Yue himself. Afterwards, he had revealed himself to Fang Hu. Then, Fang Yue joined Fang Hu in leading their men to the Boundary Mountain region, hoping to find an opportunity to return to Guangfeng Prefecture.
After all, this area had been seized by the Rebel Army. And from the looks of things, the imperial army couldn’t quell the rebellion anytime soon.
The two sides were now locked in a stalemate across the river, and there was no telling how long it would last.
But no matter how they looked at it, if they stayed in Shanyang Prefecture, they would eventually be discovered by the experts within the Rebel Army and be hunted down—unless they surrendered.
Therefore, after discussing it, Fang Yue and Fang Hu decided to risk entering the Boundary Mountain to find an opportunity.
But it seemed their prospects weren’t optimistic. Several scouting missions had confirmed that all the ports were under the Rebel Army’s tight control. And in other areas, there were no boats, making it impossible to cross the vast river.
’Yeah... Is there really no way out?’
Fang Yue’s brow furrowed, his face clouded with worry.
He was a smart man and knew full well that if they were delayed here too long, it would be truly dangerous once they were discovered.
Though they were powerful Martial Artists, the great river separating Shanyang Prefecture from Guangfeng Prefecture was far too wide, spanning several miles.
The current was treacherous, and the water teemed with massive, ferocious beasts. The slightest misstep would mean death.
Fang Hu shook his head. "We’ve scouted the whole way here. Crossing the river will be extremely difficult."
"But a small stream flows through here. If we follow its course, we should be able to get around the Rebel Army’s patrol routes!"
"Mm. I understand." Fang Yue nodded slightly upon hearing this.
’I’m a little worried, but there are no other options right now.’
"Let’s go!"
At that, the group moved forward.
As it turned out, Fang Hu’s judgment was spot on.
Following the stream, the members of the Fang Family traveled east, reaching the other side of the Boundary Mountain without any trouble.
Perhaps because the terrain was too treacherous, or because it held little strategic value, there were almost no soldiers from the Rebel Army in sight.
Fang Hu and the others finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"We’re safe for the moment," Fang Hu said in a low voice, "but we need to leave as soon as possible. If the Rebel Army finds us, we’ll be in serious trouble!"
There were still Rebel Army scouts in these mountains and forests. If their trail was found, it would undoubtedly lead to disaster.
They had to get out of here as quickly as possible.
"Mm!" Fang Yue nodded.
RUMBLE!
Just then, however, dark clouds suddenly roiled across the sky. A thick darkness instantly descended, plunging everything into obscurity.
Seeing this, Fang Yue’s pupils shrank. He felt a faint, ominous premonition.
CRACK!
With a clap of thunder, a torrential downpour began.
Fang Yue and the others quickly found a cave to take shelter from the rain.
"Something is wrong with this rain. Master, you stay here. I’m going to take a look."
Fang Yue said, standing up. He could already feel the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi fluctuating abnormally in the storm.
It was an intensely oppressive sensation.
’It feels like some kind of cataclysm is about to happen.’
Moreover, he sensed the celestial phenomenon was unnatural; something earth-shattering was about to happen.
He had to find out what was going on.
"Alright. Be careful." Fang Hu didn’t try to stop him, merely nodding. ’Fang Yue’s Cultivation Realm is far beyond my own now. I can hardly call myself his master anymore.’
WHOOSH! Fang Yue took a deep breath, then leaped from the cave. He landed atop the mountain peak and gazed into the distance.
He soon discovered that under the deluge, the entire world was shrouded in a layer of gray.
A bizarre aura began to spread, making his skin crawl and his hair stand on end.
In the distance, it felt as if some enormous, malevolent creature was slowly awakening.
"What is..."
Suddenly, Fang Yue’s eyes locked onto a Black Shadow in the distance, and his heart trembled.
"That... That’s..."
As he watched the Black Shadow’s outline gradually become clearer, a storm of shock raged within him.
In the distant sky, Fang Yue saw a dragon shimmering with cyan light. It rose and fell within the churning black clouds, inhaling and exhaling the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi to strengthen itself.
What chilled Fang Yue to the bone was that this Cyan Dragon was gradually drawing closer, finally stopping in the sky several dozen miles from his mountain peak.
A Demon Dragon!
’So Demons actually exist in this world!’
For a moment, Fang Yue was so stunned his mind went blank.
But he quickly came to his senses. ’If a Demon Dragon can appear in the mortal world, then the so-called Demon Realm must be real, too!’
Just as Fang Yue’s mind was reeling, a world-shaking roar echoed through the sky.
"ROAR!"
The sound spread in all directions, deafening all who heard it.
And with that earth-shattering roar, a figure burst through the thick black clouds in the distant sky, rapidly closing in on the Cyan Dragon. In the blink of an eye, they collided.
RUMBLE!
A sound like the sky falling and the earth shattering erupted as the two began a ferocious battle.
The Cyan Dragon was a true Demon of incredible power. Every one of its attacks wielded the might of Heaven and Earth.
A single blow seemed powerful enough to turn the world upside down.
The being fighting the Cyan Dragon was massive, like a Demon God, and reeked of blood.
The man’s cultivation was unfathomable; his every move held the terrifying power to sunder the heavens and shatter the earth.
Every punch he threw seemed to shatter the very void, making the world itself tremble.
BOOM!
The two fought fiercely, until finally, the Cyan Dragon was swatted out of the sky. It crashed to the ground, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
PTHOO!
At the same time, the blood-soaked being also spat out a mouthful of blood.
Clearly, he had not escaped the exchange unscathed.
"ROAR!"
The Cyan Dragon let out a low moan, then roared and charged once more.
The area where they fought had become a scene of apocalyptic destruction.
Thankfully, the man and the Demon were fighting in the sky. If the battle had been on the ground, a hundred-mile radius would have likely been reduced to a barren wasteland.
’Who are they, this man and this Demon? How can they possess such terrifying power?!’
Fang Yue’s face was grim as he stared fixedly at the man and Demon in the sky, his heart pounding wildly.
He could feel an overwhelming aura of death emanating from the man.
Soon, the tide of battle turned. The Cyan Dragon was losing.
After all, it was only borrowing the Power of Heaven and Earth, not truly commanding it. The Magical Techniques and Divine Powers it unleashed were far inferior to those of the blood-soaked expert.
This made it harder and harder for the dragon to hold on. Its body swelled, and its injuries worsened. Soon, the blood-colored figure’s claw tore into its body, ripping out a huge chunk of flesh and revealing the stark white bone beneath.
"AOOO~"
The Cyan Dragon howled at the sky in agony, but it was utterly helpless.
"Hmph!"
The blood-colored figure sneered and stomped down again, aiming straight for the Cyan Dragon’s head, clearly intending to finish it off.
But just in the nick of time, another figure came flying in from the distance.
"Prince Wucheng, why the rush? This Demon Dragon was born of heaven and earth. It is a Spirit Seed; it would be a shame to kill it."
The newcomer was a white-haired old man with an elegant bearing, standing poised against the wind.
At his appearance, Prince Wucheng actually stopped his attack.
The three sides faced off, and for a moment, the only sound in the sky was the roar of wind, rain, and thunder.
~~~~~~~
"Prince Wucheng?!"
Hearing this, Fang Yue was utterly stunned. He couldn’t help but stare at the blood-colored figure. ’That man... is Prince Wucheng!’
’Prince Wucheng has such power? He can fly, he can fight an impossibly powerful Demon Dragon, and he can even win.’
’No wonder he dared to rebel and cause such a stir. So this is the source of his power!’
