Chapter 486 459: Great Transformation of the Demon Country, a Shock to the World

  • Next Chapter

In the Capital, within Taiji Hall, the entire imperial court had been silent all night.

And at almost the same time, in the Nine Celestial Demon Countries, Supreme Profound Heaven, Tang Valley, Qingqiu, Shituo Ridge, Peacock Mountain...

As the Ten Thousand Spirits Celestial Pride List spread and the four words "Ancient God's Word Spirit" were read by more and more living beings, both the Golden Crow Demon Saint and that ancient, nine-tailed figure deep within the boundless clouds of Qingqiu couldn't help but feel a strange premonition.

In the center of Tang Valley, atop the Fusang Tree.

The Golden Crow Demon Saint suddenly beat its wings and took flight, its body transforming into a fiercely burning sun. It circled the massive Fusang Tree, crying out without pause.

The Demon Saint's cries caused the entirety of Tang Valley to tremble. Throughout the region, for ten thousand li around, the earth quaked as mountain ranges like Fire Dragons suddenly arched up from below.

Plains became peaks, and peaks turned into valleys... The heavens shook and the earth moved. The landscape itself was being reshaped—a world-shattering transformation!

As if the Fire Dragon-like mountain ranges rising from the ground wasn't enough, the terrain continued to shift more violently until, at a certain moment, a volcano erupted!

The first, the second, the third...

As more and more volcanoes erupted, the entire region for ten thousand li around Tang Valley was transformed into a world of fire.

Fire crows took flight over a land scorched for thousands of miles.

...

On Shituo Ridge, a giant lion roared, "Has that Firebird from Tang Valley gone mad?"

The roar shook the clouds, startling countless Little Demons. They scattered through the forest like flashes of lightning, as birds and beasts fled in panic.

In Qingqiu, deep within the boundless, misty haze.

The Nine-tailed Fox's ears twitched slightly. Of the nine enormous Fox Tails spread out behind her, one suddenly seemed to gain a will of its own and rose into the air. Three strands of fur flew from it, spontaneously bursting into flame in mid-air.

The Nine-tailed Fox, who had kept her eyes shut in a deep slumber to resist the erosion of time, suddenly snapped them open. Her pupils reflected the flicker of fire.

The fox spoke in a human tongue, her voice a mixture of shock and dismay. 'A great calamity upon heaven and earth... Even hiding like this, I still can't escape it...?'

Meanwhile, in the Demon Saint Palace, a bell lay buried deep underground.

This bell was named the Chaos Bell. It was long since dilapidated and decayed, its body incomplete. It had not rung in eight thousand years, as if it had become a mere mortal thing.

Yet for some unknown reason, at a certain moment on this very day, the giant bell began to hum.

DONG—

DONG—

DONG—

The moment the toll of the Chaos Bell sounded from beneath the earth, the entire Demon Saint Palace began to tremble.

The Demon Saint guarding the palace was the Ancient Demon Bai Ze, who had been injured for many years and had remained in a state of semi-seclusion.

Bai Ze had the form of a white lion, with deer antlers on its head and a long beard flowing from its chin.

But unlike the magnificent and spirited Demon Saint of myth and legend, the Bai Ze of this moment had mottled fur, a half-broken antler, and a sparse beard. He looked utterly decrepit, on the verge of death.

As the Demon Saint Palace trembled, Bai Ze lay prostrate in a deep space that resembled a reflection of the starry sky. He merely lifted his head slightly, his eyelids half-open, completely ignoring the tremors.

The bell tolled three times. Throughout the Demon Saint Palace, the many Great Demons and Little Demons either staggered and fell or froze in place like statues of clay and wood, their minds reeling from the shock. A few with weak Cultivation let out a sudden scream as their entire bodies simply disintegrated on the spot!

Yes, their bodies disintegrated.

It was as if they had been sliced by some strange force, or had collapsed from the inside out. CRACK CRACK CRACK. The bodies of these Little Demons simply fell to pieces.

The dilapidated giant bell rose from the ground, stirring a hurricane that sucked away innumerable bits of flesh and blood. Then, at a moment when none of the demons could react, with a tremendous BOOM—

—the giant bell shattered into a thousand pieces in mid-air, right before the demons' eyes!

VMMMMMM—

At that moment, across the Nine Celestial Demon Countries, countless members of the Demon Race felt as if a shrill and profound wail of sorrow echoed in their ears.

Beneath the sound of that wail, regardless of whether one was a Great Demon or Little Demon, an Ancient Demon or a modern one, old or young, strong or weak... every member of the Demon Race, every living creature, was overcome with infinite grief and boundless sorrow.

Not a single demon had time to intervene.

And so the shattered Chaos Bell, broken into innumerable pieces, shot through the void in every direction, flying to the very ends of the earth.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

Piece after piece of the ancient bell's fragments leaped through the Void, vanishing into the great beyond.

In that instant, under the bright daylight sky, it was as if a Daytime Star Appearance had occurred. A meteor shower rained down over the entire Demon Country.

But it wasn't just over the Demon Country. More fragments, at some unknown moment, suddenly broke through the barrier between the Human and Demon Realms, bypassed the Four Great Demon Passes, and appeared in the skies above the Nine Provinces.

On that day, a meteor shower rained down over the Nine Provinces as well!

Countless fragments landed on the earth.

Some landed on crowded city streets, drawing innumerable gasps and curious onlookers.

Some landed in remote forests, where they were covered by leaves, swallowed by insects and snakes, or pursued by birds, beasts, and all living creatures.

Some landed in secluded places, caught by unsuspecting people who suddenly found themselves blessed with a great opportunity.

...

And there were many, many more incidents, too numerous to describe.

Meteors also fell over the Capital. However, the Emperor had just collapsed after vomiting blood, and the nation's highest-ranking rulers were all trapped inside Taiji Hall, unable to pay any mind to the phenomenon of stars falling in broad daylight.

Many other meteors fell within the grounds of the Major Sects. Some who picked up the fragments experienced an immediate epiphany and a breakthrough in their Cultivation.

For the sake of the fragments, some people began to hunt and kill one another, while Sects fell into conflict and waged great battles...

In a single day, the world was turned upside down.

The prosperous mortal world had been irrevocably disturbed.

But was all of this truly set in motion by those four words, "Ancient God's Word Spirit"?
