Chapter 163: Chapter 145: Cyan Yang, Nine Nether

"This..."

Having run a restaurant for many years, Li Cheng’an knew instantly that his wife’s words had angered Immortal Master Ma.

He felt a mix of anger and joy.

’It seems my son isn’t just some ordinary Immortal in the Immortal Realm...’

Li Cheng’an’s expression shifted for a moment before he strode to the bedside, yanked the woman up, and struck her hard across the face!

He roared, "You hussy! It’s one thing for you to be arrogant on a normal day, but how dare you insult the first wife now!"

"If you dare do so again, know that while the Li Family may be a minor household, we still have family rules to discipline you!"

The woman clearly hadn’t expected the master, who was usually so mild-tempered and treated her so well, to fly into such a rage and even strike her.

She was so stunned she didn’t dare say a word.

Li Cheng’an snorted, then turned and spoke urgently to the old man, "I must trouble Immortal Master Ma to accompany me to the rear courtyard. Changsheng’s birth mother also contracted the miasma sickness days ago, and her condition is now even more serious than my son’s."

The old man’s eyelids twitched. "Patriarch Li, please lead the way," he said hastily.

Li Cheng’an led his guests out of the room and hurried to the rear courtyard.

The moment they entered the rear courtyard, the old man’s gaze fell upon a room, and his expression changed instantly.

Before Li Cheng’an could lead the way, the old man’s figure blurred for an instant, reappearing at the doorway before he entered the room.

"Who are you!"

A shocked cry rang out from within.

The color drained from Li Cheng’an’s face as he hurried into the room with the others.

As soon as he entered the room, he was greeted by a refreshing fragrance. He looked over and saw Immortal Master Ma placing a lustrous, jade-white Elixir Pill into his wife’s mouth.

Then, he saw the Immortal Master press a finger to his wife’s brow as streams of aqua-blue light flowed from his fingertip into her skin.

Li Pan’Er sat dazedly to the side, her eyes darting to her father’s anxious face.

But upon seeing the immortal techniques being used, Li Cheng’an had no attention to spare for his daughter. He held his breath, terrified of disturbing Immortal Master Ma.

After a moment, the old man sensed the wisp of miasma coiling like a parasite around the woman’s heart. He shaped his hand into a claw and barked, "Get out!"

Streams of aqua-blue Spiritual Power swarmed forward, like countless threads wrapping around the miasma, and swiftly pulled it out from her heart.

In just a few breaths’ time, a thumb-sized, aqua-blue orb of energy was expelled from the woman’s mouth.

The old man let out a soft sigh of relief. He beckoned the orb into his palm, then took out a jade box and sealed it inside.

With the miasma gone from her body and the Nourishing Body Pill taking effect, the color returned to the woman’s face at a rate visible to the naked eye.

Li Cheng’an was overjoyed. He cupped his hands in a fist and said, "Thank you, Immortal Master Ma."

The old man waved a hand, dispersing the Spiritual Power that had bound Li Pan’Er, then smiled and said, "It was nothing more than the lift of a finger."

Hearing this, Ma An gave him a strange look.

’A high-grade Nourishing Body Pill suitable for mortals... even he would feel the sting of parting with one. He couldn’t believe his uncle didn’t feel the same...’

With tears welling in her eyes, Li Pan’Er looked at her mother, whose complexion had improved so dramatically that for a moment, she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

After checking on his wife, Li Cheng’an turned and cupped his hands. "It may have been a trivial matter for the Immortal Master, but to my wife, it was a life-saving grace..."

He said earnestly, "I wonder if there is anything the Immortal Master requires? As long as it is within my power, I will not refuse."

At these words, the old man was stunned for a second, then a wide grin spread across his face. He waved his hands dismissively. "A life-saving grace? Oh, I’m not worthy of such a title, not at all."

"It is my honor to be of service to Steward Li. Patriarch Li, please don’t mention it again."

’A life-saving grace!’ The words sent a jolt of ecstasy through the old man.

’Though Steward Ma’s letter was somewhat vague, the line "you must treat them as my own kin" was enough to tell him this Steward Li was someone extraordinary.’

’Even if this "life-saving grace" was taken at a discount, it was still a considerable favor owed to him.’

"It is only right," Li Cheng’an said, cupping his hands.

He then led the group to the main hall, where they all took their seats.

Li Cheng’an smiled warmly as he poured tea for his guests.

The old man accepted the gesture as his due, but Ma An dared not, and stood up to offer a few words of polite refusal.

Lou Anjin remained somewhat reserved. ’From their conversation,’ she guessed, ’it seems this family has produced an extraordinary Cultivator.’

After a few pleasantries, Li Cheng’an turned to the old man. "Immortal Master Ma, do you know where my son is now? And how is he?"

The old man contemplated for a moment before he began to explain.

「A short while later.」

The old man fell silent, allowing them to digest the information.

Li Cheng’an’s expression flickered between joy and worry.

’So Immortals aren’t really Immortals, they’re Cultivators. My son joined an Immortal Sect and even became an official of some rank.’

’What shocked him most was that Qingyuan Country, where he lived, was a subordinate nation to the Cyan Yang Sect.’

’By that logic, my son must be at least... a City Lord?’

Beside him, Lou Anjin’s heart was also pounding with excitement.

Having been born in a large city, she had a much clearer idea than Li Cheng’an of just how vast Qingyuan Country was. And to think such a massive nation was merely one of many under the Cyan Yang Sect’s rule.

’Is this the world of Cultivators...?’

Lou Anjin sighed inwardly, her desire to go to the Cyan Yang Sect growing ever more urgent.

Li Cheng’an snapped out of his daze and hesitated. Cupping his hands, he began, "Immortal Master Ma, about my son..."

"No problem."

The old man waved his hand dismissively and stood up.

’He just wanted to make his position clear to Li Cheng’an. Of course he had to save the boy. What if Steward Li was close to his younger brother? Not saving him would be disastrous.’

’Besides, this was a family matter. It was best not to overstep.’

"Thank you, Immortal Master..."

A look of delight crossed Li Cheng’an’s face as he rose to lead the way.

Just as they were walking out the door, the old man glanced back at the swaying door curtain. "Patriarch Li," he asked suddenly, "who is the girl in that room?"

"That is my youngest daughter," Li Cheng’an replied quickly. He paused, then asked worriedly, "Immortal Master, is there something wrong with Pan’Er?"

"Not at all."

The old man waved his hand and chuckled. "When I used my Spiritual Power to restrain her, I vaguely sensed that your daughter seems to possess a Spirit Vein."
