Chapter 138: Chapter 132: Spirit Crystal, The Fat Meat Flew Away

Congli then called over some Power Demon Sect disciples to guard the heavily injured and near-dead Luan Jian and Mingzhuang, while he himself strode toward the island.

With the members of the Demon Hunting Corps either having fled or been killed, the remaining Power Demon Sect disciples ceased their pursuit at Zuo Ling’s command.

They began searching from house to house, rounding up the Spirit Farmers hiding within and herding them to the public square.

This was a feast.

For both the living and the dead.

Terrified Spirit Farmers were crammed together in the public square. The stench of blood filled their nostrils, and the sight of the ferocious, burly men standing guard struck such terror into their hearts that they dared not make a single sound.

Dong Yao, Wu Yong, Yun Wan, and Sun Wen Yu huddled together. Two little girls, barely a meter tall, clung to their legs, their faces filled with fear.

Time slowly passed.

The number of Spirit Farmers gathered in the square continued to grow.

The smiles on the Power Demon Sect Cultivators grew ever more savage. Their gazes fell upon the Spirit Farmers like an old rancher eyeing livestock ready for slaughter, filled with the joy of a bountiful harvest.

The bodies of the fallen Power Demon Sect and Cyan Yang Sect Cultivators were also moved to the square.

None of the Spirit Farmers had ever witnessed such a scene. At least a hundred corpses were piled together, making the stench of blood in the air even thicker.

"HAHAHAHAHA..."

The surrounding Power Demon Sect Cultivators erupted into unrestrained laughter at the sight of their terrified expressions.

Zuo Ling methodically began to issue orders.

It was customary for the Power Demon Sect to retrieve the bodies of their fallen. They would be smeared with corpse oil and wrapped in Sealing Spirit Cloth to preserve the vitality of their Qi and Blood. These were excellent materials for corpse refining, which the disciples had no authority to handle; they had to be turned over to the sect.

Then, the corpses of the Cyan Yang Sect disciples were distributed one by one as rewards, based on merit. Their storage bags, of course, had disappeared the moment they died.

Once that was done, the scene that followed made the Spirit Farmers turn ashen and tremble uncontrollably.

Right before their eyes, numerous Power Demon Sect Cultivators began extracting the Qi, Blood, and Spiritual Power from the corpses.

In just a short while, dozens of desiccated corpses were casually tossed into a corner, piling up into a small mound.

Zuo Ling toyed with the glob of blood in his hand, swept his gaze over the Spirit Farmers, and said flatly, "Begin."

Ten Power Demon Sect Cultivators stepped forward and began searching the Spirit Farmers for their valuables.

The Spirit Farmers were petrified. None of them dared to resist.

Storage bag after storage bag was confiscated by the Power Demon Sect Cultivators.

But one elderly Spirit Farmer, unable to part with his belongings, hid his storage bag in his crotch, hoping to conceal it.

But to the eyes of the Power Demon Sect Cultivators, the spiritual glow from a storage bag was as obvious as a lit lantern. How could it ever be hidden?

"Ah!"

The Power Demon Sect Cultivator looked at the old man’s ingratiating smile, a savage grin spreading across his own face before he viciously kicked the man’s shin.

CRACK...

With a sharp snap, the old farmer’s shin twisted to a ninety-degree angle. A sliver of bone, stark white, pierced through his robes—a shocking and gruesome sight.

"AAAH!!"

The old farmer collapsed, screaming in agony.

The large man crouched down, fished a storage bag out of the farmer’s crotch, and snorted. "You could have just handed it over. Did you really need to suffer for it?"

Those standing nearby shivered and quickly, obediently, took out their own storage bags.

Zuo Ling nodded in satisfaction. He left the armored giant to keep watch and led the remaining Power Demon Sect Cultivators toward the Spirit Fields.

The Cultivators fanned out across the Spirit Fields, pacing back and forth and using their Qi and Blood to probe for Spiritual Vortexes.

Before long, a look of delight appeared on one of the large men’s faces. His palm, wreathed in crimson Qi and Blood, plunged down into the soil of the Spirit Field.

The man’s entire arm disappeared into the earth. He wiggled it around a few times, as if trying to catch a fish.

The next moment...

CRACK...

A sharp crack echoed as the large man slowly withdrew his arm.

The Spiritual Power contained within the Spirit Field, now seemingly without restriction, rapidly rose up and dissipated into the air.

And the Spirit Field, in just over ten breaths’ time, reverted into a Mortal Field, without a single trace of Spiritual Qi remaining.

In the large man’s palm lay a Crystal Stone, the size of a fingernail, shimmering with a seven-colored halo.

The man carefully placed it into a jade box and then walked toward the next Spirit Field.

The other Power Demon Sect Cultivators also began to pull one shimmering, seven-colored Crystal Stone after another from the Spirit Fields.

In just a short while, vast swaths of Spirit Fields had turned into mortal land.

’So many... We’ve really struck it rich this time...’

Zuo Ling collected the jade boxes containing the Spirit Crystals, unable to hide the excitement on his face.

The Crystal Stones were called Spirit Crystals, formed when a Spiritual Vortex was destroyed. The Spiritual Power they contained was purer than that of Spirit Stones and could be directly absorbed by Nascent Soul Realm Cultivators to increase their power. Each one was comparable to a Second-Order Spirit Pill.

But because the cost of creating them was so high, and because they were so easy to absorb, they were often even more precious than some Spirit Pills.

Just as he was leading his men to harvest the Spirit Crystals, Congli set foot on the Ten Thousand Serpent Lake Heart Island.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and spread his spiritual sense out in all directions.

His sense swept over the Tier Two Spirit Fields, and one by one, Dong Xing, Xu Li, and Fang Fan—all hiding in different parts of the island—appeared within his perception.

A moment later, Congli opened his eyes. A cruel, knowing smile touched his lips as he strode toward a corner of the island.

Hiding in a hollow at the foot of a mountain, Fang Fan stared out at the silent darkness with terror in his eyes.

When the Power Demon Sect attacked the Spiritual Land, he had scrambled into this inconspicuous little hole in a panic. He did his best to conceal his Spiritual Power, but as the sounds of fighting outside gradually faded, he grew even more anxious and didn’t dare to go out.

Just then, he suddenly felt his head tighten, followed by a rush of heat, and then he passed out.

"Heh heh, one..."

Congli picked up Fang Fan. Sensing the vibrant life force at the center of his brow, he chuckled and turned toward the other side of the island.

Before long, he was striding toward the mountaintop, carrying Xu Li in one hand and Fang Fan in the other.
