Chapter 113: Chapter 113- The Lightning Based Classes.

Silence descended in the vault as the guardian mentioned the presence of Myth rank Inheritance.

The word carried a different level of weight for everyone present. Most of the people gathered in that vault had only ever heard "Legendary" spoken in passing—let alone actually seen someone carrying a Legendary-rank class in the flesh.

Everyone except Leo, that is, who already held a Myth-rank class himself. Possibly something even beyond that, if he was being honest with himself.

While the rest of the group sat there stunned, Elona—who understood better than most exactly how much a class rank could mean in Myth Online—was the first to find her voice, needing to hear it confirmed out loud. "There’s actually a Mythic-tier inheritance available? For real?"

"Yes."

The Guardian answered with unwavering certainty. "The General’s true successor cannot simply be selected at random. The requirements for Mythic inheritance go far beyond ordinary affinity or talent. The Legacy itself chooses who is worthy."

Leo nodded slowly at that. It echoed something he’d felt himself, back when he’d first obtained his own class—like it had chosen him, rather than the other way around.

But a new question was already forming, one that felt more urgent than the last. "If I’m not tied to this class in any way, then why did the vein react to me specifically?"

"Because you’re the one who awakened it," she said. "You met the necessary conditions. You activated the well yourself. The vein simply recognized your authority over this place."

"Your authority as founder of a functioning guild—one that completed the awakening conditions. That’s all it acknowledged. It responded to whoever turned the key. Nothing beyond that."

Leo nodded.

Something about that answer clearly didn’t sit right with the Guardian either, though. By her own understanding, only a true chosen candidate should have been able to access this place at all—and the moment she’d truly looked at Leo, she’d sensed immediately that he wasn’t the one meant to inherit anything here. And yet the vein had responded to him regardless.

She studied him more closely now, trying to probe past the surface, searching for whatever thread connected him to this place.

"Your path," she said slowly, "is strange."

Leo raised an eyebrow. "Strange how? Can you actually read it?"

The longer she looked, the more the confusion deepened in her expression. She couldn’t pin down his affinity at all—it was like staring into open, empty space where an answer should have been.

"No," she said finally.

Her words carried weight as she was an entity from past era. Older than anything Leo could determine. But even such entity couldn’t see anything about him. He once again felt how rare his class really was.

"Interesting," she said again, and offered nothing further.

She turned away from him, facing the well instead, and raised both hands, palms down. The chamber responded to the gesture instantly.

Ancient formation came to life as the lines of violet lightning coursed through the channels in the wall, all converging towards the center of the vault towards the mana pool.

The air crackled with charged particles of electricity

And, Soon notification panel chimed in before Leo’s eyes.

[Ding~]

[Lightning Legacy — Activated.]

[Guardian Authority — Restored.]

[Inheritance System — Online.]

Leo stared at the notification panel in shock. The legacy has been activated.

Which meant the Lightning Legacy wasn’t some one-time discovery to admire and move past. It was now a permanent, living resource belonging to Eternal Forge—an active system woven directly into the guild’s foundation. Every current member carried potential access to it. Every future member who joined from this point forward would carry that same chance.

"Those who prove themselves worthy," the Guardian said, "may seek the General’s path."

She raised her hands again, and the mana vein responded in kind. The violet-silver pool churned violently, something rising slowly from within it, taking shape amid flickering arcs of lightning.

A monolith slowly rose from the poll of lightning. It stood in the middle of the pool tall as the ceiling of the vault allowed.

A lightning flashed over the monolith with a thunderous boom leaving the glowing words ’The Lightning Legacy" at the top.

The pool remained calm for a moment only before it started to surge once again, and this time the whole pool churned not just center part like when the monolith appeared.

The churning intensified as a massive structure rose from the pool of lightning. The whole structured looked like it was made of raw lightning as the arcs of lightning flickered endlessly.

The structure finally finished manifesting and Leo and rest received a notification.

[Ding~]

[Lightning Legacy Temple — Manifestation Complete.]

Everyone in the room flinched back a step, stunned.

Cindy who was in the game for fun and had never left the town was sacred silly, Her hands shook in fear as she grabbed Rook’s sleeve, eyes wide with horror as the lightning booms sounded in the air.

"G...Gramps...?"

"Stay behind me," Rook said, planting himself slightly in front of her.

The formation lines that were previously invisible now flared open. concentric circles made of runes surrounded the well as pillars started to rise from the ground.

The whole vault shook, they felt like an earthquake had hit the vault.

Pillars rose one after another until 8 pillars rose in a circular sequence.

Violet lightning arced between them, connecting pillar to pillar until an enormous circular platform encircled the Mana Well completely, the eight pillars standing sentinel around it in perfect symmetry.

Elly’s voice cut through the tension. "Master, I believe these structures are part of the Legacy’s original inheritance system."

Leo nodded slowly, eyes tracking the arcs of light jumping between pillars.

The Guardian stepped forward. "The Legacy doesn’t search for candidates based on appearance, level, or reputation. It searches for compatibility."

"These eight pillars measure the strength of your affinity. They also carry secrets the General left behind, generations ago—but for now, think of them simply as a test of aptitude."

Realization spread across the group.

Ben stepped forward first, hesitant but curious. "So—can any of us actually get tested?"

"Yes. That is what the pillars are for."

She gestured Ben to step into the space between two of the pillars, directly in front of the temple’s entrance. A small circular formation was carved there. As soon as Ben stepped on it, The formation lit up and a platform rose.

"Place both hands on the platform. Pour every bit of mana you have into it."

Ben did exactly as instructed.

[Ding!]

[Lightning Legacy Temple — Activated.]

[Affinity Evaluation System — Online.]

[Eight Pillars of Lightning — Awakened.]

[Ding!]

[Candidate Detected.]

[Name: Ben]

[Current Class: Blade Tactician]

[Beginning Lightning Affinity Evaluation.]

One pillar flared to life.

[Ding!]

[Lightning Affinity — Detected.]

[First Pillar — Awakened.]

"Only one pillar," the Guardian said, a note of mild disappointment coloring her voice. "Mediocre affinity, at best. Still—you qualify for a Rare-rank inheritance."

"Step into the temple to receive it."

Right as she said it, a fresh notification blinked into Leo’s vision.

Ben stepped through the temple’s entrance, and while he was inside, the Guardian continued explaining, addressing the group at large now.

"One pillar signifies the Legacy recognizing the very beginning of a path."

The first pillar brightened, as if in demonstration.

"Four pillars mean the candidate carries enough compatibility to challenge the higher branches of inheritance."

The fourth pillar pulsed briefly on its own.

"Six pillars, and the Legacy recognizes genuinely extraordinary potential."

The sixth pillar lit in turn.

Then her gaze shifted to the final two, and something in her posture changed.

"And if all eight answer at once..."

She paused, letting the silence stretch. The whole chamber seemed to grow quieter around her words.

"...then the Legacy will acknowledge a candidate capable of competing for my master’s complete inheritance."

The moment she finished, another notification rolled in for Leo.

[Ding~]

[Guild Class Change Facility Added.]

[Legacy Compatibility Evaluation]

[0 Pillars — No Lightning Inheritance Available.]

[1–3 Pillars — Rare-Rank Class Exchange Available.]

[4–5 Pillars — Epic Lightning Trial for Epic-Rank Class Change Available.]

[6–7 Pillars — Legendary Lightning Trial for Legendary-Rank Class Change Available.]

[8 Pillars — Mythic Legacy Qualification for Mythic-Rank Class Change Available.]

[Note: Rare-rank class exchange has no cap—any candidate who lights at least one pillar qualifies. Epic and Legendary tiers are limited to a handful of slots, with Epic allowing somewhat more. The Mythic-rank class has exactly one available slot, total.]

Leo stared at the notification, then up at the ancient spirit, genuinely stunned.

"My guild just got a class-change facility? Just like that?" he muttered under his breath. He had Elly broadcast the notification to the whole group, and a collective gasp rippled through the room as everyone processed it in real time.

More detail followed shortly after.

[Ding]

[Rare-rank class outcomes depend on the candidate’s original class.]

[Warriors receive Lightning Warrior.]

[Mages receive Lightning Mage.]

[Assassins receive Lightning Assassin...]

[Note: Even two Warriors both receiving Lightning Warrior will manifest unique, individualized versions of that class.]

The Guardian elaborated further.

"The path forward holds no ceiling for those strong enough to walk it. But the Legacy does not force any candidate onto an unfamiliar road."

The class names on the panel shifted slightly as she spoke, as if responding to her words directly.

"A warrior remains a warrior."

[Warrior → Lightning Warrior]

"A mage remains a mage."

[Mage → Lightning Mage]

"The Legacy transforms the path already walked. It does not replace it with something foreign."

...

Inside the temple, Ben had reached the center of the structure, and a fresh notification appeared for both Leo and Ben the moment he stepped through.

[Ding!]

[Compatible Rare-Rank Inheritance Detected.]

[Current Class: Sword Tactician]

[Available Class Exchange:]

[Lightning Swordsman — Rare Rank]

[Class Compatibility — Confirmed.]

[Legacy Compatibility — Confirmed.]

[Class Exchange Available.]

Ben stared at the prompt in front of him, momentarily frozen.

Then he selected Yes.

[Ding!]

[Class Exchange Requirements]

[Candidate Compatibility — Confirmed.]

[Lightning Essence — Required.]

[Conversion Source: 22 Gold.]

His face fell instantly. "Twenty-two gold? I don’t have anywhere near that much—"

He’d already half-turned to walk away in defeat when a message came through from Leo.

"I’ll cover it. Keep going."

Ben froze, genuinely caught off guard by the gesture.

Leo paid the gold without a second thought.

[Ding!]

[Gold will be converted into Lightning Essence.]

[Ding!]

[Confirmation Received.]

[Beginning Class Conversion.]

[Candidate Gold: 22]

[Converting Gold into Lightning Essence.]

...

The pillar that had lit up for Ben flared brilliantly, releasing a wave of pure lightning essence that surged directly into the temple, striking him where he stood.

[Ding!]

[Gold Conversion — Complete.]

[Lightning Essence — Supplied.]

[Class Transformation — Beginning.]

The mana well pulsed in rhythm with the process.

Violent arcs of lightning erupted and wrapped completely around Ben, engulfing him. His entire mana structure began shifting under the pressure, the lightning affinity buried inside him unlocking fully and refining itself in real time, threading through his body and reshaping something fundamental in how he carried his own energy.

Pain shot through every nerve he had. Ben gritted his teeth and forced himself to hold still through it.

Eventually, a new notification appeared.

[Ding!]

[Class Transformation — Complete.]

[Previous Class: Sword Tactician.]

[New Class: Lightning Swordsman.]

[Rare-Rank Lightning Inheritance — Acquired.]

[Lightning Magic Compatibility — Unlocked.]

The surge of lightning dissipated as quickly as it had come.

Everyone outside waited, holding their breath, watching the temple entrance.

Ben finally stepped back out, faint arcs of electricity still flickering intermittently across his skin. His eyes had taken on a new sharpness, something harder and more focused than before.

"I feel—" He flexed his fingers, staring down at his own hand. "This is a huge difference. I feel genuinely powerful right now."

He raised his palm, and thin threads of lightning danced obediently across it, responding to his will like they’d always belonged there.

The Guardian lifted her head, sweeping her gaze slowly across the rest of the group.

"Now. Who’s next?"
