Chapter 3147 A Flicker
Chapter 3147 A Flicker
It didn’t take long for Pearl to realize that he was alone. The one he had been protecting had left him when it was his time to protect. A spiteful feeling burned within him, one he couldn’t make use of now.
He was unable to make use of much at this moment.
The female bear was completely down but conscious. Her eyes remained on Pearl the entire time, which led Pearl to believe that whatever her technique was, it was something she had to actively use.
Could he get her to release him from this if he managed to break her concentration somehow? What would he have to do exactly?
Pearl’s gaze landed on the other bear that moved toward him. He wondered for a second if the bear was going to run past him and go for the wolf. At this point, Pearl wouldn’t even think of stopping him.
However, it was clear that the bear had other ideas.
“You’re a White Tiger, right?” he asked. “What sort of treasures do you hold?”
Pearl knew this was going to happen.
He pushed against his spear, holding himself up. While he couldn’t control much, he could control some of himself.
His body wasn’t entirely out of his control just yet, and his mind was somewhat in control as well. It was his Qi that was completely out of his grasp, making him unable to use any techniques.
The bear slammed its paw onto the ground, and rock spikes jutted out of the ground in a cone before it, making their way toward Pearl.
Pearl took in a deep breath and waited for the last moment. With a push, he lifted himself off the ground and high up into the air where he dodged the rock spikes.
While he did dodge it, he couldn’t fly at the moment and had no ability to maneuver himself mid-air. The bear lunged forward, its claws covered in earth aura.
Pearl barely managed to stab in retaliation, and the two attacks clashed, with Pearl coming out worse. Pearl slammed onto the rock spikes that grew out of the ground, his body crashing onto it, creating a crater.
Tremendous pain filled him, and he worried if he was bleeding by any chance. He doubted that was the case, but he couldn’t trust anything at the moment since he could barely use his spiritual sense either.
Pearl had barely moved himself out of the crater when the bear came slamming down toward him. Pearl didn’t even have the chance to stab back when the bear slammed its paws onto his face.
The force threw up a dust cloud that stopped visibility in all directions. Pain flared even more than before in Pearl, making him realize that there was perhaps no point in holding back.
He thought of transforming back, becoming a Tiger. Maybe he could do something then. However, that ability was something Pearl no longer had at the moment. His thought of using his Dao to teleport away was also out of the question.
Pearl only had a few other choices in that moment, and he wasn’t sure if he liked using any of it. He either had to show off his bloodline, use his blood essence, or give up on the trial.
‘No,’ he told himself, pulling himself out of the crater again. This time, he was definitely certain that he was bleeding.
The bear came for him again, but Pearl attacked before it reached him. His spear clashed with its paws, and Pearl pushed his Spear Aura into it. He could produce barely any spear aura at all, but what he produced did help him keep the bear’s attack at bay.
The bear fell back in surprise, staring at Pearl in awe. Even though it was trying to kill him, it couldn’t help but be amazed by Pearl’s ability to fight back against its family’s secret art.
Considering the difference in cultivation between Pearl and the bear’s sister, Pearl should’ve been immobile from the start. Most beasts were immobile even when there was no difference. And yet, somehow, despite being so many realms weaker than its sister, Pearl was still more or less in control of his body.
His speed and strength had massively dwarfed from before, but that was enough to keep him alive.
‘Just how strong is its bloodline?’ the bear thought, understanding that the longer he took, the more strain its sister would be in. It knew this had to end soon.
With newfound motivation, it charged for Pearl once again.
Pearl stood, barely holding himself up. The bear stood around doing nothing, giving him the ample few seconds he needed to think. Thoughts were difficult, like trying to see through a fog, but he could make out the silhouettes. He could see the outlines.
‘I can’t use Daos, but I can use Spear Intent,’ Pearl thought. ‘It’s like I’m momentarily cut off from the heaven.’
Even without heaven, Dao should’ve worked, but Pearl didn’t have enough control over his mind to use his Intent over a distance. He could barely apply it to the spear he directly held in his hand.
‘I can only use my Spear Intent,’ Pearl thought. ‘That is all I can rely on.’
He took a deep breath as he realized that in the end, there was only one option left for him. And with the bear charging for him now, he didn’t even have the time to consider it thoroughly.
He just had to do it.
Spear Aura filled his spear again and he struck back at the charging bear. He never attacked in offense, only keeping his attacks to a minimum of when it was needed to protect himself.
He couldn’t afford to use it too much.
It wasn’t that Pearl was worried he didn’t have access to more—he did—but that he needed it for something else entirely. His eyes narrowed, focusing on the bear before him.
He envisioned his spear, the swirling energy around it that would tear through everything. He envisioned it attacking the bear.
He willed it to attack the bear.
A flicker of light appeared just then, barely enough to give the bear pause. But Pearl was far from done yet.
Now that one had formed, he would form many more.
