Chapter 178: Chapter 177: Mandate of Heaven Mission Triggered
"A Harley-Davidson T800 - Black Venerable." The four underlings were practically drooling. They shuffled closer in a daze, salivating as they exclaimed over the motorcycle. "A real eight-cylinder engine! Look at these eight massive exhaust pipes, arranged like a throne. It’s just so unbelievably dominant!"
"Curb weight of 355kg, top designed speed of 385 km/h. This thing’s a real beast."
"I really want to take it for a spin..."
"Forget it. With your scrawny frame? You could never handle a beast like this."
The underlings grumbled, their faces full of envy, but Shi Tiexin saw much more.
His driving interface appeared automatically. The shockingly large heavy motorcycle before him flashed brightly in the interface, then its various parts lit up one by one, each with a floating bubble annotating its detailed information, like a robot from an old movie extracting and displaying data from its archives.
The Harley-Davidson T800 Black Venerable truly was a man’s dream machine. Its ruggedly dominant design, those eight ferocious exhaust pipes, the big tires, big frame, big horsepower, and a weight of nearly eight hundred pounds—there were probably only a few like it in the entire world.
Forget riding it; if the bike fell over, most people wouldn’t even be able to lift it back up.
It wasn’t that there weren’t faster or better-made motorcycles out there. In terms of practicality and general usability, this bike was actually terrible—it was hardly something made for human use. But for a two-meter-tall little giant like Shi Tiexin, it was the perfect fit.
This was an absolutely hardcore muscle bike.
The first moment he saw it, Shi Tiexin could picture himself riding it, racing freely across a boundless wilderness. He could almost imagine the coarse grit and sand striking his face. He could almost imagine the massive roar of the engine, a thrill to his eardrums.
It wouldn’t be comfortable in the slightest.
But as far as his eyes could see, nothing could reach the horizon faster than him.
Shi Tiexin couldn’t tell if this vision had been a spontaneous creation of his own mind or if he was being influenced by the other ’him’ from this world line. But he was suddenly and completely captivated by it, because the scene he had witnessed seemed to be the legendary—Freedom.
As the thought arose, a vortex suddenly swirled within the chaos of his consciousness. A powerful beam of light shot out from the very depths of the vortex, shining upon his soul, reflecting in his vision system, and finally coalescing into a few familiar lines of text.
[Activation, Destiny Mission!]
[Destiny Mission 1: The Wind of Freedom.]
[Description: I charge with the storm, ruling all that I see!]
[Completion Condition: To be discovered through exploration]
[Completion Reward: To be discovered through exploration]
A Destiny Mission!
It had actually activated a Destiny Mission here?
Shi Tiexin was a bit surprised and a bit excited. After all, the benefits of completing a Destiny Mission were immense—arguably the greatest reward one could obtain across all world lines, even more precious than the Celestial Golden Light. As long as there was the slightest possibility, Shi Tiexin would never pass up a Destiny Mission.
Back with the Champion Scholar Stone, he had already completed Destiny Mission 1 and was partway through Mission 2. Yet, the mission activated this time was also a ’Mission 1.’ It seemed that the Destiny Missions for each world line were calculated separately, not just numbered sequentially one after another.
So, what was the key to this "Wind of Freedom" mission?
Shi Tiexin looked at the motorcycle before him. ’It must have something to do with this bike,’ he thought.
"Boss, why are you still wearing that Police Headquarters uniform? Hurry and change into your battle gear!" Ah Fei said excitedly. "Tonight is the Black Venerable’s Show_Time!"
"What? What? Did he say something’s... sour?"
"That guy’s speaking his foreign gibberish again."
"You heard him wrong! He said it’s time to pack up."
"Pack up? But we haven’t even eaten yet."
"Wrong, wrong! Given the context, he must’ve meant ’burn tires’!"
The four underlings started arguing again, but Shi Tiexin finally asserted his authority as their leader, putting a stop to the pointless squabble. "First, we eat. Then, we pack up. And finally, we burn tires."
"Yeah! It’s a plan!"
"AWOOOO! Get the boys together, it’s time to get wild!"
The four top henchmen shot out like four wolf pups, howling as they went. Watching them roughhousing, Shi Tiexin suddenly felt a surge of interest himself. ’When in Rome...’ he thought. Retiring from the life could wait. Since the Destiny Mission had activated here, he might as well see if he could complete it here.
’I charge with the storm, ruling all that I see!’?
Heh, that didn’t sound half bad.
"Boss, your battle gear is here!"
His underlings swarmed around him.
Ten minutes later, Shi Tiexin had shed the Police Headquarters uniform he wore as a disguise and changed into his clothes for this world line. A tight black tank top outlined his powerful muscles, and a chain hung from his black leather pants. His shiny, oversized belt was styled like a championship boxing belt, giving him an air that screamed ’don’t mess with me.’ He also wore oversized, thick-soled, high-top leather boots that made the ground tremble with a THUD THUD THUD with every step.
As his underlings eagerly assisted, he slipped his arms into the sleeves of a black leather jacket. With a shrug of his shoulders, the leather jacket fell perfectly into place with a SNAP. Combined with the spiky hair on his head that stood up like steel needles, Shi Tiexin radiated a powerful, heavy-metal aura.
’Hmm, not bad.’
’Wait, something seems to be missing.’
’A helmet?’
’Right, right, you should definitely wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle. It’s not safe otherwise. But I’m the leader of a Biker Gang right now. Wouldn’t sticking a helmet on my head be a bit out of character? Forget it, I won’t wear one today. I’ll worry about it later.’
’Today, I’ll wear sunglasses.’
’Wearing sunglasses on a dark night—aren’t I afraid of crashing?’
’Nope, not afraid. I have my driving technique. Bends, potholes, and other vehicles are all highlighted in my vision. Plus, with sunglasses, I won’t have to worry about high-beam jerks. It’s perfect.’
His expression was hard and cold. He swept a fierce glare over them, and all his underlings bowed their heads respectfully.
This feeling... it was pretty damn good.
He strode over to the Black Venerable and mounted it. He stomped down hard on the kick-starter, and the engine roared to life with a RUMBLE. It wasn’t that it lacked an electric starter, but at this moment, Shi Tiexin just preferred this hardcore, old-fashioned starting method. The feeling of the entire frame shuddering up and down as he stomped his foot gave him a true sense of command.
It made you feel like—’This is my goddamn bike, and I’ll ride it wherever the hell I want!’
"Let’s ride!"
VROOOM VROOOM VROOOM! The engine roared, and Shi Tiexin shot out in the lead. Behind him, more than forty motorcycles of various models followed close behind. His underlings were howling, and the roar of their engines merged into a single, deafening sound.
Night fell. The lights of Tokyo City were dim.
The distant city center was still brightly lit, but the slightly more remote areas were already sparsely illuminated. There weren’t many pedestrians on the road, lending the scene a desolate and cold air.
But these desolate Tokyo streets were now filled with the roar of motorcycles.
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH! Shi Tiexin led the charge, swaggering through the city with his forty-plus underlings. Everyone they passed scurried out of their way. No one dared to block their path.
