Chapter 859: Who Stole My Corpse?!_2

However, as expected, the unexpected occurred.

The invisible unmanned drone fleet had not yet reached the skies above the Second Prison when, en route, its high-definition wide-angle lens captured a sudden and violent scene on the road below.

“Captain! Something’s up!”

Xu Yingyan’s voice suddenly rose, his fingers rapidly tapping on the keyboard, quickly enlarging the image on one of the screens.

Instantly, all eyes of the team members, including Zhang Shenyi’s, focused on the screen.

The screen displayed a real-time view transmitted from the drone looking down from an angle:

On a lonely suburban highway, a black government sedan stood askew, with the front part severely caved in, the hood twisted and raised like an open monstrous mouth.

Splatters of dark red blood, not yet fully congealed, stained the windows, strikingly eye-catching against the bleak highway backdrop.

The picture seemed to freeze for a moment.

The next second!

“Bang—Boom!!”

The door on the passenger side suddenly bulged from the inside, became deformed, and then shot off spinning, slamming heavily onto the distant road, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Next, a bizarre white figure charged into view with a highly impactful posture.

The figure roughly assumed a humanoid shape, but the multiple pairs of jointed mechanical auxiliary arms extending from its back made its overall form more akin to that of a… giant spider?

Humanoid torso + spider-like mechanical arms + pure white body = a white humanoid spider?!!

The white humanoid spider’s feet stomped on a person’s chest, both flying out from the broken car as if riding on a skateboard, slamming heavily onto the asphalt and sliding a considerable distance, leaving behind a trail of blood.

The event unfolded rapidly and abruptly, such that the drone didn’t have time to adjust its focus and angle for precise tracking.

The white humanoid spider grabbed the man at its feet, whose life or death was unknown, with one hand, while the spider limbs at its back tapped the ground, displaying an astonishing jumping ability. In a few leaps, it turned into a blurry white shadow, quickly disappearing from the drone’s view.

From the anomaly being spotted to the target vanishing, the whole process took less than 3 seconds.

Throughout, Worries Relief Studio members couldn’t clearly see the white humanoid spider’s front, leaving them only with a back view, reminiscent of a steel spider.

The studio certainly wasn’t na?ve enough to think the white humanoid spider was some supernatural creature.

With just a fleeting glimpse of the silhouette, it was enough for them to determine it wasn’t a biological mutation but a well-designed, structurally complex, and powerfully dynamic full-body exoskeleton armor.

Moreover, it was a highly special design with strong biomimicry.

Generally, such highly mimetic armor isn’t mass-produced standard equipment but more likely to be custom-made personal models.

The technological capability and resources it represents are not to be underestimated.

Therefore, all Worries Relief Studio members, based on the images from the computer, could easily collectively deduce a truth.

That a cosplaying “white humanoid spider” attacked and killed the people in the car on the highway and took away one of the “corpses.”

Originally, Worries Relief Studio was not inclined to meddle.

But the problem was that the highway where the attack occurred, coincidentally, was the only way leading from the city to the Second Prison.

The crime scene was remarkably close to the Second Prison.

Close enough to inevitably provoke associations.

Given Worries Relief Studio’s cautious approach and high professionalism, it was hard for them to ignore such a murder case occurring “on their target’s doorstep,” with unclear motivations and participant identities.

It was as if another unknown hunter, also armed, suddenly barged into their meticulously arranged hunting ground.

One could hardly ensure that the purpose of the other’s actions wouldn’t intersect with their mission objectives in some way.

Potential variables must be discovered, evaluated, and included in tactical considerations as soon as possible.

As the captain, Zhang Shenyi immediately issued a series of clear orders:

“Hawkeye, first check the car’s license plate information; I need to know who it belongs to.”

“Yes!”

Xu Yingyan responded and moved into action, his hands turning into a blur over the keyboard as he hacked into the traffic management database.

“Chen Town!”

Zhang Shenyi turned to a sharp-eyed, swift team member beside him and said,

“You’re the fastest, go to the scene immediately, confirm the situation in the car, keep hidden, and avoid encountering the target.”

The named Chen Town was the team’s heavy artillery and assault member, decisive in character and incredibly action-oriented.

Without any wasted words, he nodded slightly, simply responding, “Understood!”

Upon finishing his words, he somersaulted over the outer wall like a wild cat, barely kicking up any dust as his feet touched the ground.

Without the slightest pause, he kept low and bolted toward the crime scene several kilometers away, quickly disappearing into the swaying grass waves.

Less than a minute.

When Chen Town was still on the way, Xu Yingyan already had some preliminary results. He lifted his head and rapidly reported,

“Captain, the car’s license plate information has been found; it’s registered under the name Zhao Lu.

Preliminary searches identify Zhao Lu as an insider within the Executive Government, but his specific role and affiliated department… are protected by high-level confidentiality privileges.

Our portable equipment needs more time to forcibly crack it, requiring deeper database intrusion.”

He spoke while his fingers kept moving, quickly pulling up a new window on another screen.

“I’ve simultaneously hacked into the external monitoring system of the Second Prison and found records confirming that this car stopped at the main entrance of the Second Prison about seven minutes ago.

This is the retrieved recorded footage…..”

The Executive Government’s internal system still has quite a strict firewall, unlike the Second Prison’s network system, whose firewall, in front of Xu Yingyan, is almost like paper, virtually non-existent.

A segment of surveillance footage popped up on the screen immediately, with a timestamp showing just a short while ago.

In the footage, two men dressed in the same work uniform were seen leaving the gate of the Second Prison, one of them glancing back at the camera above the gate.

His face bore a slightly gloomy look, and then the two got into the car and drove away.

Through rapid facial feature comparison, it could be confirmed that the one who turned back was the car registrant Zhao Lu.

The timeline was tightly connected; Zhao Lu and his companion had just left the Second Prison, driven not far away, when they encountered the deadly “white humanoid spider” attack on the highway.

The timing was too close, and the location was so sensitive.

Though not one hundred percent certain, logically adjudged, this bloody assault happening “on the doorstep” of the Second Prison, targeting personnel who had just left, probably had a connection to the Second Prison itself.

The action may not necessarily have been directly conducted by the Second Prison, but the motive for the attack was highly likely to be related to someone or something inside the Second Prison.

Almost simultaneously, a deep voice came through the communication channel:

“Captain, I’ve arrived at the scene, discovered no danger, currently inspecting the vehicle.”

In the flat house, everyone, through the real-time images fed back by the drone, saw Chen Town cautiously approach the wrecked car and then poke his head into the window.

The scene inside the car was bloodier and more brutal than the overhead view.

In the cramped space, the dark red blood spattered everywhere, with a strong stench of blood seemingly perceptible even through the screen.

The driver’s seat and the passenger seat seemed immersed in a pool of blood, with the leather surface in complete disarray.

Two shoulder-length broken arms and a severed hand lay on the deformed leather seat like casually discarded garbage.

The only potentially valuable intelligence object left inside the car seemed to be the male corpse in the driver’s seat…the face was beaten to a pulp, features disfigured, and missing both arms.

Observation and intelligence gathering were not Chen Town’s forte; he didn’t linger over the various details of the scene but directly unbuckled the corpse’s seatbelt, flipped it backward, and slung it over his left shoulder.

Whether the body had value or not was unknown, but he decided to bring it back for others in the team to examine.
